  2. No, you’re right. Still can make things interesting. You still control your season. Make the needed adjustments and hopefully we will see you all in the third round like last year. Keeping everyone safe and healthy is just as much a game planning as anything else right now. Even with our teams winning or losing football games, we are truly thankful to be playing and having a football season this year.

  3. So true 5:8 next few years will be more like the Greene machine that most are use to. Still, this young team can make plays and has loads of talent.

  4. Stewart boy is an absolute BEAST! But Huntland’s Coach should be ashamed of himself the kid went down early in the 3rd and was visibly shaken up the rest of the game and was doubled over after every play for 1qt and a half it was clearly visible to everyone in the stadium yet they still rode him all the way to 2 turnovers directly caused by it. I’m sure the kid wanted to play and the sport needs more kids like him but less Coaches like Robertson! Sometimes grownups need to be just that!!

  5. Yall are clicking right now and I will be pulling for ya in the playoffs. I think y’all got a good chance to make it to cookeville this year. i didn’t think that earlier in the season.

  7. Play calling was terrible the last drive (really the whole game). Don't know what's going on with Mills not starting or Dudley Jr. not getting in more, but when they line up and hand them the ball, they move it!!!!!!! Yes, they have been injured, but they were healthy to play last night. Huff has done a good job, but he can only do so much! Liam does a great job and I've thought all along that if they could mix in a short pass or two for him to throw, it would keep the defense honest. But you put in a pass where he throws it (supposedly down the field 20 or 30 yds.) that went straight up in the air, so the defense knows not to worry about a pass from him and they load the box. We had two time outs left and were moving down the field. Halls wasn't going to stop them. Why throw it up for grabs??????????? Give Halls all the credit.......they beat a team they had no business beating! We have had a ton of injuries that are slowly coming back. Please fix this crap before playoff time! Coaches, please get your act together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Shut the front door on this thread! It's Friday, in October, in the South - young men are waking up - already thinking about tonight's game. A little nervous at breakfast while Mom's telling them to eat. Pulling on that jersey they earned - heading out the door toward tonight. Stop the mess and enjoy.

  10. Would like to once again remind everyone how great this game was. It’s also worth remarking that 7 years ago Meigs was in a battle with Cannon County to see who wouldn’t finish the season winless. 7 years later here we are, 2 regular season losses in 5 years and playing for our 4th consecutive district title. I know South Pitt fans are used to that kind of success but it’s still hard to comprehend around here sometimes.

  12. Do you think MJ Golden Bears will renew the 2 year contract to play us home and home for the next 2 years? We hope so. Trip to MJ was the most fun road game of the year last season. MJ loses a ton of seniors. I don't think they want anymore of Oak Ridge.

  13. Good win tonight. Proud of our defense tonight. Shouldn't have been that close. The penalties, turnovers, and special teams breakdowns will get you beat this time of year. We will have to put together 48 min. of winning football to beat Plow.

  14. hahahaaha ! I thought about that when I was leaving and looking at the playoff picture for this region. We kinda screwed up Milan because now yall have to host Covington.... Yikes!!! I do not care if it is week 1 or the playoffs... NOBODY wants to see Covington on the schedule.... Especially after you have already beat them 1 time....... Thanks for the love my man. SGC is looking pretty good.

  15. I hate to say yes because that sounds like an excuse and we still had chances to win and just didn’t get it done. But to answer your question, I do think it makes a big difference...very similar to the difference in how we played with and without them against Cornersville But I don’t want to take anything away from Gordonsville. They are a good team and flat out played better than us. Congrats on the win and good luck the rest of the way. Their RB #10 is really good player. As the game went on, we had a very difficult time containing him and our offense couldn’t do much of anything. That could be because Gordonsville did such a good job getting in our backfield.

  16. Stewart had a monster game. Kid is the toughest player I've ever seen come through Huntland. Great hard nosed game.

  17. I liked the offensive plan (the play action and the run game). I liked the mix of run and pass. I loved the defense. And I loved the win!

  19. DB needs to get Trent Cody back on the field for this one. Science Hill has a good QB and several good receivers. I think it will look a lot like that second half at Farragut unless DB can figure something out. They did look pretty good tonight but it was MW not SH.

  22. Proud of the improvement Oak Ridge made. They are finally realizing we are gonna have to pass it to beat a good defense.K.Jackson was the man tonight.Anybody on here that doubted if he was D1 or not got their answer tonight. He would make something outta nothing and when he had any room at all busted it for big yards.MT J had a really impressive Dline and plenty of them. That Oak Ridge d played good again and I bet MTJ didnt have 150 yards of offense.Only negative I will say is we had to have close to 100 yards of penalties. And the kicking game missing XP and chip shot FGs.Oak Ridge shouldve put that game away but instead let MTJ stay in the game.Good win RWR

  29. This season started out strange and got strangier. The constant is murvil has improved every week. That trend needs to continue for this team to be playing at the end. They have a very good defense who trust each other which makes D alot easier. Offensively, they have several weapons and will ultimately need them all. First thing's first... MURVIL IS THE WINNING TEAM! ALS ARE THE LOSING TEAM! TRACK MEET FOR THE REFEREES! 49-14 IS THE SCOREBOARD! Stay safe and enjoy the kids!

  30. We’ve had some bad years as well. The early 80’s weren’t kind to SP. As well as 88-92, 2000-2002, 2004-2006, 2014-2015. Those were all some rough years if you look back through the archives. It happens to everyone at this level.

  32. Sounds like battles for years to come! Harpeth graduated 5 seniors last year (two playing college this year). Only 2 seniors this year. 5 juniors, 3 sophomores and 3 freshman that dressed & contributed through the year on varsity. A boatload of JV Indian sophomores and freshmen ready for their turn as well! Exciting!

  35. Dearest Mother- I hope this letter finds you and poppa doing well. As for me, your youngest son, who is of sound mind and strong body, has had a week he will never forget. Unfortunately, our campaign against the Tiger King didn't go as planned. We made so many blunders throughout and from the outset we dug too big of a hole from which we could not escape. Tiger King Fitz and his Tiger men were primed for the campaign from the moment we stepped onto their battlefield. Captain Victory and his Band of Pirates fought valiantly and courageously, but in the end our deficit was too much to overcome. Which brings me to the week I have had. Captain Victory has put double duty on everyone this week. He was none too pleased with our lack of battle readiness. So, we have refocused our heart, body, mind and soul on preparedness, endurance and discipline this week. Let's just say when Captain Victory says jump we bark in unison, 'how high'. I have walked from the confines of The Beene to the Crossroads of our next campaign. The walk did me good, as I was able to build up my endurance and retrain my mind for the task that lies ahead. Here at the Crossroads I find another Tiger waiting to do battle with Captain Victory. This time we have waiting for us, the Red Tiger, which is led by none other than Jake the Tiger Snake himself. He is an upstart, who would love nothing more than to lay a trap and sink Captain Victory's Battleship. But I've got news for Jake the Tiger Snake, his Tigers, and anyone else that dares to wage battle against our Captain and his Band of Pirates. Yes, I have news, and that news carries a warning to any and all. Woe Unto Thee. Yes, Woe Unto Thee Red Tigers. Woe Unto Thee Creek Panthers. Woe Unto Thee Copper Cougars. For Captain Victory has hardened and reshaped his Battleship along with his Band of Pirates. Yes, the Pirate Battleship has been hardened with the finest Pittsburg steel known to man. Yes, this Band of Pirates is ready for any and all who would stand in their way. Every hand is on deck, battle ready, determined and mindful of the plans the Captain has put forth. Everyone onboard is faithful, loyal and true. This Pirate Battleship is fully operational and Captain Victory is at the helm. Sweet Mother of mine, send more provisions for the men, as we have several more campaigns in which to carry out. And let the word go forth. Yes, let the word go forth that we have been renewed this week. We are ready. We are prepared. And for all those out there watching, for all those out there waiting, for all those out there hoping and praying for our demise, I say unto you, Now witness the Firepower of this fully operational Pirate BattleShip. Love to all- Sgt Southtowner

  36. I’m really not to sure about that yet.. I’m not completely bought in to region 3’s top two teams being that good. If I look at their schedules I don’t really see any wins other than Marion’s against Fayetteville that stand out to me. Our 3 and 4 may play their 1 and 2 competitively, but like BCB said who knows. They may boat race everyone in our region!

  37. You sound plum nutty. Who is hating on Whitwell? Whitwell had their time in 2017-2018. That time is now past and they are down again. There is no hate there. That’s just the reality.

  38. How is winning a game Choking? Greeneville Choked in the first game of the season and Boone was actually the one choked by missing a FG to win it against Betsy. It's football with high school kids and a lot of factors go into a game and each team matches up differently. Ex. Boone beat Greeneville. Tennessee High Beats Boone. Greeneville beats Tennessee High. Betsy is still the favorite in 4a until proven otherwise

  40. This is hilarious! It’s time to move on from not getting to play the Marion game. Both teams should have bigger goals for this season. It’s a new week and time for new games. Good luck to Meigs tonight on securing a region championship. Good luck SP tonight in a inter county rivalry game. Good luck to Marion on another region win tonight.

  41. Dude you're reading too much into one game. Elizabethton last year barely beat Sullivan South 14-13 and ended up running the table and winning a gold ball. You also need to educate yourself about 4a football in the State of TN and you will see the East has dominated 4a football. Since 2009 Middle Tennessee has 1 4a gold ball, West TN has 1 4a gold ball, and East Tn has 9 Gold Ball with Greeneville and Betsy combining for the last 3

  42. In 1992, we had three champions in Tennessee. Total. No public/private split. You had to fight to have a good enough record to make it into the postseason. In just five years, the TSSAA jumped from three to seven state champions. And now we have nine. If they were to move private back to two classes, I wonder how BGA would feel if CPA and Lipscomb were moving up and they weren't. But I'll go with the hypothetical laid out in this thread. It's doable with the 16 schools and a seven-game region schedule. Split it into four sections: West, Middle4, Middle3 with Z, and East. What is Z? A rotating school from the East. For the purposes of this explanation, I have Knoxville Webb in the Z spot. Rotate the Z school out every two years and you're in theory set for a decade. The split for the middle seven is a bit tricky. MBA is the toughest if you want to protect them for Ensworth and FRHS and BA. My idea: Div. II-Large, Seven-Game Schedule West: CBHS, MUS, Briarcrest, St. Benedict Mid4: MBA, Ensworth, FRHS, JP2 Mid3+Z: Lipscomb, CPA, BA, (Webb) East: McCallie, Baylor, CCS, Catholic Non-region division games West- 2 Mid3, 1 Mid4, 1 East Mid4- 2 Mid3, 1 West, 1 East Mid3- 2 Mid4, 2 West Z---- 4 East East- 2 Mid4, 1 West, Z This way, the Memphis teams all play, Nashville teams face four of the six local schools, and the Knoxville/Chattanooga schools all play one another. Protect MBA/BA for the first two years. Flip BA and JP2 and protect JP2/Ryan for the next two years, etc. This is purely hypothetical of course, so that element is less important. And then the playoffs are however you want them to be. Top three in each region get in, region winner gets a first-round bye. Or any other number of possibilities.

  43. Our guys have the next man up mentality and I do think we have other kids who can play. We will find out if they can play as well as the 5 guys they are replacing. When you want to be a great team, you have to be able to handle adversity and tough situations. I don’t think we can pretend it won’t have an impact missing those 5. They were all 5 defensive starters. They accounted for 12 offensive TDs. One was our punter. One was our primary return guy. But it’s an opportunity for some other guys to step up and see what kind of depth we have. To be honest, I don’t know what to expect. We really struggled without them in the back half of the Cornersville game but I hear they found guys to fill those spots. Everyone on our side will need to bring their A game. Hoping for a good game and a good atmosphere.
