I got a lump in my throat in the third quarter. South Side had a much better inside game than in the first two quarters. Their defense was everything I heard it would be after the half. I bet the coach gave them a good talking to at halftime. Overall, an exciting game to watch on TV. Congratulations to both teams for 100% effort and for good sportsmanship. We can look to next year's tournament for a rematch. Maybe even sooner?

Congratulations to Greeneville on a hard fought win. SS came out flat and didn’t hit there free throws and it cost them. Great sportsmanship on both sides I think both teams will be back to the glass house next year !

Greeneville Wins 47-46!!! First State Boys basketball Championship for Greeneville and Greene County! 3 Starters returning next year and almost the same team as last year that qualified for State.

That was a terrific ball game even though we were on the losing end. Two very good teams that night. The 2 best in the state that year for sure.

I think they think you are mocking them. Because you said that the coaches have really turned the CD and W Greene programs around this year, and they didn’t, become CD won 4 and WG won 1 game this year. So it sounds like your making fun of them.

Do you have proof that he stole county property? See what people forgot, no charges were pressed, no theft was found. What did happen is money was spent on GC's as a thank you for assistant coaches, his wife's vehicle was filled up to take the training staff (all girls btw( to the game so they were not on a dark bus with the players, Not to mention his wife made sure those trainers paid attention during the games. Nobody yelled water ever. Finally don't be mistaken booster funds are not county monies. Those are both public and private donations for the sole use of the benefit of the football program and controlled by the booster program. The only reason the GC's are an issue is because of taxes.

If they don’t hire Jonesy they are a complete moron and should be flogged and neutered. This should be an easy decision.

Overton will never return...lol... Just kidding. The issue is multifaceted to say the least. The privates are harvesting the best players from all over the area. Take for example Turntine who played at Ensworth. He was getting recruited as a 7th grader at Rockvale to come play. RuCo doesn't have near the challenges as metro schools, primarily due to funding and opportunities. But a young man with a ton of talent getting looks and being pushed academically as well as athletically is not going to be the same in Metro as it is in privates. The teachers are going to be higher paid, the facilities are typically going to be better and it becomes an issue of have and have nots, Don't get me wrong kids from public metro schools get recruited all the time. But they have to be really special players, Look at those kids that are good to a little better than average, those kids going to Austin Peay, TennTech, William Lindsey, and a million other schools. They get picked up on a full ride to play, when a kid down the street playing his tail off with a little more hear and talent doesn't get the look because the program itself is not strong. Parents have learned to put their kids in the best possible position (when they can) to get the next level, be it education or playing ball or both. I hope to see Overton make some noise again because there is enough talent there to do so. The real thing is going to be bringing parents, players and school together to get them all to invest in the future of the program ,
