  1. Should be exciting in the play off's for sure this year adding South Doyle in the loop with Betsy, Greeneville, and AC. SD dropped to 4a and was a very good 5a team that lost to Oak Ridge in the Semi's. They are lead by Shawn Gary their 6'1 185lb RB that rushed for 1,757 yards and 18 TD's last year and didn't even start until week 4. They return their O line along with some starters on D with a Levi Herald leading the way at DE and had 11 sacks and 91 tackles last season.

  5. West Ridge should roll. This will be a good confidence booster to get them started in the right direction.

  7. Times ain't changed. The Mustangs have been a thorn in yalls butt for almost a century and that's not changing. Our youth programs are loaded and can't wait to get their hands on some Bulldogs!

  9. Scrimmaged Betsy last week and scrimmaging Greeneville tomorrow. No doubt two of the best teams in this area so they should know where they stand real quick. West Ridge scored several times against Betsy and held their own on D. BUT Betsy play calling was very limited (to protect health of Betsy QB I assume). I do like the fact they are scrimmaging top competition so the kids will not be shell shocked by 6A speed. Greeneville is probably the cream of the crop in NET this year so this scrimmage will be great experience for this team.

  13. The freshman. Even he is coming from a Middle school team that won the championship. With 15 games, even 2's and 3's get tons of playing time. That's the reason Alcoa reloads not rebuilds. You should have watched this "young inexperienced" Alcoa team show D2 A3 Champs, Mccallie how public schools play football last week!

  15. The scrimmage starts at 5:30 Friday. DB has a long way to travel and so the scrimmage time was moved up to 5:30. The Mavs traveled to Stone Memorial Tuesday. I wasn't able to attend, but after talking with those that did attend, it sounded like the Mavericks had their way again on offense and defense. The did not use the ten play format that many early scrimmages use. It was down and distance from the start. Martinez put on a light show throwing balls to 8 different receivers. Gavin Noe and Moog split time at the RB position, and both ran the ball well as I understand. The Maverick first team got 4 possessions and drove the 80 yards each time to score. Defensively, the Mavericks did not allow a score in four drives with the first team on the field. The kicker punched all 4 FGs through. The Mavs used the rest of the day to get their JV and Freshman in the game. They scored 3 and allowed 2 with that group on 4 possessions. There will be a bigger test on Friday at Maverick stadium as DB rolls into town. I look forward to a big night, and hopefully no injuries.

  16. If upperman has not improved over last year then it's a really winnable game, however I think if they are the heavy favorite to win their region then they have for sure improved, us and watertown both have some holes to fill. It will be an interesting year

  17. Yep. Like I said, the TSSAA doesn't sanction JV or freshman teams. To them they don't exist. For those who believe otherwise, let me know when the JV and Freshman team state playoffs begin.

  18. Are you talking 4 hours on the field or 4 hours from when they walk in to the locker room until they leave, including on the field, meetings, and weight room? Huge difference there. 4 hours on the field is unusual. 4 hours total is not.

  19. AC has been high scoring the past couple of year just not against tougher competition. Depth hasn't been your problem Mavs in Flight and size and strength hasn't either, It's been SPEED. You have had the strength and game plan to play with Greeneville but not the Speed. Last year alone 3 out of the 4 TD's in the Playoffs were one missed tackle and it was off to the races and not even a close foot race at that. All those Speed merchants return for Greeneville including Gudger lol

  27. Let’s all just forgive and forget. I’m pretty sure quite a few of us here (I’m pretty sure WW & Nole both are, correct me if I’m wrong) are followers of Christ and all members of his body. Let’s all lead the way and be a shining example of that, including myself first and foremost! Much love, fellow Ridgers.

  29. FWIW, I don’t think CPA’s starting QB played at all. The Jackets had trouble with the Lions’ passing game but looked good against the run. Crenshaw #14 looked a little rusty. He alternated series at QB with Robinson #2. Keyshawn looked good when he was in. He played QB his freshman year before moving to receiver. Our skill guys looked good both running and receiving. I agree with Big Dawg’s take in that the freshmen looked good on offense.

  30. Not gonna be good for Volunteer. Several coaches on the staff for West Ridge that beat 5A Volunteer when they coached 2A football and Several that beat volunteer when they coached a 4A team.
