  1. I could never imagine in a lifetime a player coming to my school (Maryville) and calling the shots like the big recruit that has joined Powell. I wonder how that works out with the other kids on the team that set back and watch this circus go on around them with grown men constantly running all over the place chasing this kid like a pack of hungry dogs asking the same stupid questions over and over. Then the worse part is his recruiting visits take priority over practicing and even games someone close to the situation told me. The distraction this will cause will be very interesting to see. Can you imagine a new employee coming to work and all this going on around them. It would be like a bomb waiting to go off not to mention letting two off the hook so easy for something most schools wouldn't tolerate which is another bomb in itself. We had two birds like that a half a dozen years ago at Maryville and I was pretty vocal about it and made a lot of people mad at me. One was on probation when he came and the other was no better. They were arrested in a big sting operation by Maryville Police and made all headlines on tv and the newspapers. That gave Maryville the biggest black eye of a lifetime. One was forgiven and worked his way back on the team the following year and the other went on his merry way and I noticed his obituary in the paper this past spring at 21 years old. My advise to Matt Lowe is your carrying a dangerous cargo buddy along with a circus to boot, I wouldn't want to be you or Powell High School if this train ride jumps off the tracks.

  2. So SP has the 3A Sequatchie Co. Indians this week. I just realized the other day that you guys aren’t playing 2A neighbor Jasper. Why is that? I thought was a big rivalry?? Seems odd you would play a 3A neighbor but not a 2A.

  3. You're in every thread discussed about Sp. I find it pretty hard to believe you missed that one.

  4. @ghostofthepast wow you really do have a target on the TC program to put information out there like this, to fact check you, yes a teacher was convicted for inappropriate conduct with a student, he was not a football coach, and yes there was an altercation at a practice but I would not call it assault and evidently everyone else agrees that it wasn’t assault, and for those wondering, the altercation was very similar to Jeremy Pruitt getting after Guarantano in the Alabama game, there you happy, now everyone knows, everybody everywhere has issues but you for some reason have a bullet with TCs name on it, but guess what, time and time again TC’s football program and community has proven we can’t be put down! #MoveAlongTroll

  5. I'm sure covid will have a lot of wins this season. Wish the State would mandate masks, it can't hurt anyone and I've always heard ,an once of prevention is with a pound of cure.

  6. I felt SD would take this game until I saw the Knox jamboree Friday night. Either Coach Duncan wasn't trying to show his hand or SD isn't what I thought they would be. Gary is one of the best RB's in the state, but if Martin doesn't reel that arm in, they won't have a chance in this first game. Play calling wasn't too smart. Running QB keepers in a jamboree with a QB that has been injured a good part of his career.

  7. Your guess is as good as mine. I do believe the Indians are a much better team than people have given them credit for going into this season just because of last year's results. There was no excuse for the record they had last season and was a much better team than the record indicated I think three players went down with season ending injuries in one game and I think five for the season. They should have beaten East Ridge if I remember they were dominate early up 14-0 in the 3rd (I think) driving the ball inside the 15 and one of Sequatchie's kids gets injured taken away on an ambulance (all momentum/energy drained away) they end up not scoring on that drive and ER rolls off 21 unanswered. They lost to Smith Co. & Grundy by a combined 14 points. Had they won those two even with the Upperman game getting canceled (Covid) they would have finished 2nd or 3rd in the region (I think). Not sure if they would have been allowed a playoff game or not. All that even though I think they had a HC that had checked out long before the season kicked off. IMO I believe that was part of the injuries problem they were not conditioned before the season started. Numerous people who have seen the team more than me have said for weeks the players are in better physical (I also think mentally as well) condition than at any point the last two years. Why he waited so long to make it official that he wasn't coming back I have no idea although I now think how it worked out will be better for Sequatchie in the long run.

  8. They are a really solid team on both sides. Lot of freshman got playing time last year and it is paying off. Got some good seniors in key spots and think the Panthers will have a good year this season. Will definitely be a contender for top spot in the district

  9. I agree. They cannot give the amount of financial aide that the major privates can give either. They will most always behind others in the same Division because of that.

  10. Since Dustin took over he is 7-2 against the Cats. Losing the first two seasons 21-7 and 54-27....the Jackets have won the last 7 meetings dating back to 2014.... 33-29 41-6 14-0 28-14 49-13 43-0 17-0

  11. Not to mention there is protocol for donning and doffing masks as well as minimum standards for a situation. N95 is the bare minimum to really do any good. Most of the rabid folks out there however using them like face diapers for all day or a week or even a month. They touch them with their booger hooks. The stand behind a piece of plexiglass at the checkout while the cashier and bag person handles every item that they then take home . . .

  12. I’m not a huge mask guy. I am a vaccination advocate (not mandated). But seriously? If this was the case there would be no living nurses, doctors, dentist, dental assistants, Asians (cause I been seeing those suckers in masks for 40 years), or Muslim women. And yes, I know you can read anything you want to believe on the internet, so I have no doubt you “saw the research”. It is advisable when in a debate to use logical arguments or you make no inroads. Just keepin’ it real.

  13. In a game with Oakland or Maryville.....A score something like 40-0. We'll find out for sure on 9-24 when Science Hill travels to Maryville.

  15. Any of you Sequatchie Co guys have any insight on what you expect this season and particular Friday night. I've been hearing yall are pretty confident and should be very competitive this year @Sequatchie @Indian

  16. I believe game 1 will tell us a lot about both of these teams and the direction of their seasons. Everyone has heard about how many seniors SH has, but shouldn’t they have a lot of seniors every season given their enrollment? Betsy will have to replace three offensive linemen and the only Mr. Football winner in school history. If Betsy wins they will have a ton of momentum going into Rhea County. If things don’t go Betsy’s way we will see how they rebound and move forward.

  18. Am I serious? About what part? The FACT that Sp has dominated the series the last 15-20 years....yes I'm serious and yes that is a FACT. It's also pretty obvious it does matter to you and other Jailhouse fans that the series has ended I mean yall are in two separate SP threads still discussing it Again remind me what facts you stated??????

  20. Thanks We passed when needing to pass, and ran when needing to run. Great play calling by the coaches on both sides of the ball. We had a few key players out. Line play will be difference this year.

  21. 1st I ever heard of that, I've worked at places back in the day and had to wear masks, never caused me any problems. Cutting galvanized steal ,only thing the mask did was kept me from being poisoned. Why would these mask be any different from the one's people have used in factories with chemicals and the like. Then again ,you could be right but I sure haven't known anyone getting bad sick from wearing a mask.

  22. We can get you and @BIGPURPLEMACHINE some Pirate attire seems yall are more concerned with Sp than your own programs As you stated sp has dominated Jasper Jailhouse High for the last 15-20 years. Do you really think it would be a different outcome with Jones? You all should be happy he ended the series.
    1 point
  23. Not sure, apparently there was no hard feelings since he came back to jasper. If someone owed me money it would be hard for me to come back to that company I would think. Tithes to them don't compare to what the new coach asked for. We can't keep up with the joneses.......get it. Good luck to the pirates. Better win that first one or you will be staring 0-2 right in the eye.

  26. Here's a little insight. Our game was canceled because of covid. No contract was broken. The game was actually renewed by the previous coach and your new coach broke the contract. Your middle school coach sent our middle school coach a text saying they were backing out too. Are y'all gonna play the little ones this year or back out of it?

  27. Good deal! Like I said, I am a big fan of Henry County and Coach Counce.

  28. Well I was talking about the whole preseason, not just the jamboree, but I generally agree with you here. It is worth noting that one of our best WR/DBs didn’t play in the jamboree. It's just one player, but he will likely play a big role in the secondary, especially early the in the season.

  31. You've been told wrong, Barney. He went on a recruiting visit to Texas A&M before he was eligible to begin practicing at Powell, during the period when the school was trying to get everything cleared with the TSSAA so there weren't issues to arise later. Then the brothers had to do their TSSAA acclimation, which is why they didn't scrimmage at Farragut on Tuesday. He's not calling the shots. And a high school coach should not allow a prospect to take visits? That's just neither reasonable nor rational thinking. The holier than thou finger pointing in this thread is absolutely absurd. Like I have said before, I am not nearly as close to the Powell program as I used to be, but no matter what Matt Lowe does there are going to be people that want to dog him and give him "advice". Nope, he's not perfect, but the continual pointing of fingers is ridiculous at this point. Nobody is squeaky clean. Nobody. If one doesn't like Matt's or any other coach's personality or coaching style, then that's one's own issue. But the continual finger pointing holier than thou I know better act has gotten really old and just reeks. One can celebrate and support the school(s) they choose without trying to belittle others.

  32. Can't wait to watch this game on TV. You can't go by scrimmages. I thought Oak Ridge has darn good receivers and a good running back. Their run defense was good vs Maryville.

  33. Guys it’s a jamboree, y’all will be fine

  34. Put yourself in a head coach's shoes. Would you want to show everything you have in a scrimmage or jamboree? I know I wouldn't. Just like I think OR is a much better team than they showed in their scrimmages. But, OR traditionally starts off slow, so this is a hard game for me to pick. A part of me thinks OR's offense will put up some big numbers and surprise SD. But another part of me can see SD winning by 14+. You just never know which OR team will show up in the first game of the season.

  37. There are twenty-seven 4A teams in the western part of the state. Just for the fun of it, I went through the power ratings, and ranked them from one to twenty-seven. It will be interesting to see how Moore's ratings play out through the season. I may have made some mistakes. If I did, please forgive me. The number following the team's name is the team's power rating. The number in parentheses indicates where Moore ranks them among all of the teams in the state, and the last number indicates the team's region. Of course I know the game is played on the field not through polls and ratings. Anything can happen on any given night. 1. Pearl Cohn 141.01 (10) R5 2. Milan 135.42 (27) R7 3. Tullahoma 133.91 (28) R5 4. Hardin County 130.33 (45) R6 5. Haywood 128.35 (54) R7 6. Marshall County 127.38 (59) R5 7. Kirby 127.20 (60) R8 8. South Gibson 123.44 (73) R7 9. Wooddale 123.42 (74) R8 10. Lexington 120.05 (89) R6 11. Creek Wood 117.38 (99) R5 12. North Side 113.38 (122) R7 13. McNairy Central 113.05 (125) R6 14. Crockett Co. 112.51 (128) R7 15. Montgomery Central 102.37 (179) R5 16. Jackson South Side 100.34 (188) R6 17. Lawrence County 99.40 (191) R5 18. Hillwood 98.77 (197) R5 19. Obion Central 98.00 (201) R7 20. Glencliff 64.54 (313) R5 27. Melrose ? (332) R8 One last comment...since they didn't play last year, I don't know how anyone can actually determine any kind of power ratings for the Shelby County schools.

  39. You’re obviously Asinine. You can’t call something not a “real int” since there is no such thing. If it hits the WR in the hands, chest, heck even his foot and the other team poses it’s an INT. When you sign up to be the QB that comes along with the territory, same thing on a bad exchange handing it off it could be the RB fault but would still count toward the QB as a fumble. Sounds like you want a rule change that’s been around for forever….are you the QB’s dad or something?

  40. Powell QB tries to make too many impossible throws .. forces alot ...should have had 2 other passes picked .. I see that one of the WR's that was caught with the drugs played and one was hurt .. can't believe no consequences for getting caught .. WINNING is most important thing to Powell .. from what I saw.. AC could win ... like I said Powell not very well coached .. they have a middle school coach calling plays .. and QB does what he wants .. and they got some little ball headed coach running up and down sideline like a rooster .. looks like he got little man syndrome .. he is wild .. anyway . I'm saying AC keeps close .. without the WR's that should be kicked off id say AC for sure but looks like they gonna let them play .. Vols should be careful with those 2 .

  41. Man it’s the jamboree, we have won like 2 jamborees in the last 20 years, if you know TC, we are normally very vanilla, and just trying to work on getting assignments right etc

  42. Powell has too many stars and not enough team players. Egos are out of control. Coaches and players out of sync. Powell QB under throwing receivers. Starting receivers were dropping passes. Bearden offense had no first downs. Powell speed on defense was too much. Looked like Bearden defense was as fast as Powell starting receivers. A few of Powell two way players looked worn out playing 1 quarter. Walter Nolen is legit. My prediction is Anderson County punches Powell in the mouth early. I think Powell comes back and wins a close one
