  4. As a Covington fan, I can’t help looking at the Standings in this Region and scratching my head. Milan opted to move from 3A to 4A this season, while SGC was put in 4A because they had that many students. I expected to see both of those old rival teams from last year’s 7-3A Region competing for the lead in this Region. Instead, I look over here and find Haywood and Jackson Northside leading and apparently in control of Region 7-4A. The really odd thing is that Covington (still a little old 3A team) has both Northside and Haywood on our schedule this year. We managed to defeat Northside 48-20 early this season. We still have a late-season game at Haywood to play. Everything I read says that game will be a real challenge for Covington. But, I look at it this way - whether we win or loose, my Chargers will have a great experience playing against a team with Haywood’s talent. That could be the type of competition that our boys need to season us for the playoffs. A loss to Haywood would not be a disgrace. Still, Covington has a lot of Region 7-3A games to play before we worry about Haywood. I just couldn’t resist the opportunity to comment here.

  5. Cry me a handful. The little female mutt is still trying to make excuses 4a loses to a 2a. Not only lose but get their butts kick all over the field. The game was not near as close as the 30 point win.

  7. I believe that the Powell head coach needs to take back the reins of the offense. It has gotten prettymuch predictable.

  9. I have never been more apathetic about WB football than I am right now, except for (maybe) the 2017 season. That was another season where everyone thought the schedule was favorable but optimism quickly disappeared after a really bad loss to Lenoir City to open the season. That season we ended up going 1-9 and I think that's going to be our final record this year unless a whole lot of stuff changes really fast. I'm so disinterested that I only tuned into the stream for a few minutes in the first quarter tonight and saw that the game was another s### show and turned it off, and I didn't even look at the final score until just now.

  13. Hello all! This is my first post here on CoachT. I am usually the guy that sits back and reads the message boards but I figured why not join them today. It is looking like MC is going to give Forrest all they can handle and then some, but Forrest is 4-1 for a reason. They haven't faced a team like MC yet and even though it is likely they come out of this game 4-2 I don't see them leaving without a fight. MC has some talented kids and the oline is one of the best in 2A. They have some great coaches that are pretty good at adjusting too. I don't know a whole lot about Forrest but that they are 4-1. I have been to Forrest a couple of times to see these 2 go head to head in the playoffs and it wasn't pretty. MC had great teams those years. I see this being a close game for the first half and that's it. MC is just to quick on both sides of the ball and Forrest will not be able to adjust to the speed. I'm going with MC 48 Forrest 13. I seen someone say something about Meigs having an easy road in the east.... In the words or Lee Corso " NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND "! This MC team is hungry and they are looking better every week. They are playing kids that are in all grades 9-12. That Pickett kid is going to be as good as his daddy was down the road in South Pittsburg. As long as the injury bug doesn't hit MC they should hit the playoffs wide open. Like I said above... they are getting better each and every week. This is not a team to overlook and a lot of people know that. It just seems to me that Meigs fans have blinders on and don't want to acknowledge the elephant in the room. I'm not saying that MC can blow Meigs out but I am saying they can beat them. I just want to make it clear that I am not an MC fan. I am a football fan. I hope everyone has a great day and I pray that everyone stays safe!

  14. 1971 Lexington team with 6'5" Larry Fry held 6'11" David Vaughn Jr to 8 points in the championship game but losing 50 to 56 while Fry scored 15 per the TSSAA archives. Vaughn had scored 45 points in the 1st round victory over Melrose. Fry went on to be 3 yr starter at Mississippi State averaging 13.8 pts and 8.1 reb over 78 games. Vaughn had been commited to Memphis State where he would join the duo from the 1969 Melrose team, Larry Finch and Ronnie Robinson. Vaughn did a late switch to sign with the overnight success Oral Roberts University but he did marry Finch's sister. Memphis State then acquired the services of junior college player Larry Kenon. David Vaughn III did end up playing for his uncle HBC Larry Finch at Memphis. Fry became a high school principal at Grenada, Ms.
