  1. My apologies! I can admit to being wrong and I was DEAD wrong! Truly hate it for the kid, his team, and family.

  3. So whether you realize it or not you just confirmed what I posted. The TV guy is paying both schools to play the game on his broadcast. It wasn't going to happen otherwise. And this game is at Powell. There is no gate split. It's a Powell home game. For a guy who refers to himself as a Czar you aren't very much aware of reality.

  5. Good post. I agree with you. Jones should have never scheduled this game. It has to go down as the dumbest decision in the history of the state of Tennessee. Exposure doesn’t mean anything if it’s Alabama vs Sewanee.

  6. Height weight speed and grades you have to have it all. A couple tenths or 10-20 pounds or a couple inches could cause you not to get recruited. They will take you if you have all those marks even if your performance isn’t top notch. For instance dickson for peabody he went to army and was recruited by others. He was 6-1 210 or so and had great grades. But ran a 4.7 40yd. If he ran a 4.5-4.6 all sec schools and other top schools would have knocked the door down. Alabama Clemson tennessee you name. I mean we had a player few years ago that was 6,6 250 tight end but still didn’t go d1. You have to have all aspects then they think they can develop you. It’s a narrow window physically

  7. Don't need to have a great passing game when you have the best running back tandem in the state. I've never understood equating undersized as inferior, technique is gonna beat size. In games against CPA and Lipscomb, Oakland overcame deficits of 10 and 14 against probably the two best private school programs in the state, at the very least 2 of the 3, setting fire to the notion that Oakland can't win coming from behind. You can't treat Oakland like a Wing-T team because they aren't, they're a multiple formation offense that happens to feature the Wing-T at times. Pretty much every variation of the Spread today started in the Wing-T I'm glad someone started this thread, at the very least it opens up a fun debate

  9. Sheww, I would not bet on the game period. Rivalry games you can throw the numbers and stats out the window. Either team has a legit shot at winning this game. Both are really good, with great coaching. ZERO chance I would give someone 14 points to cover. They will have to win by 15 points to win the bet.

  12. I’m waiting to see if Southtowner is going to put Oakland on upset alert. I will go with Oakland 49-7 Creasy respects SP program so I don’t think he will embarrass them. He knows what small school ball is about so this may be a factor plus no need in taking a chance on his starters getting hurt. They may only see a half of action. Best of luck to both teams. Much respect for SP going ahead and playing this game after coach bailed on them. Geno can side with him if he wants but bottom line is he did kids wrong. You don’t quit your dream job for money unless you was blowing smoke to start with to the SP fan base.

  14. Bruceton started the season around 30 players on their roster. They lost 4-5 players in reflect of the coaching change. They also lost 4-5 additional players when they started 0-3 on the season. That leaves them down to around 20 players. 5-6 players have season ending injuries. They had 14-15 players dressed on their sideline last week against Perry County. There was one more player that got hurt and it appeared that was he is done (based off significant of injury) for the season. There are more injured players on the Bruceton sideline than they are in "non-injured" players. I'm not a fan of teams cancelling a game due to injuries when they have more than enough players to still play the game (regardless of victory or defeat). But, McKenzie would be wasting their time playing Bruceton. Bruceton had 8th graders (who aren't fully developed size wise) playing receiver and 8th/9th graders playing on the offensive line. They had a safety wearing #63. It wasn't going to be fair and Bruceton would be completely embarrassed and potentially hurt even more. This is the right decision.

  15. The biggest disadvantage for WB is going over to HVA and playing the twelfth man. In all reality WB should be able to win this game but Maryville had a mile of penalties which is very uncommon for a team that is built around discipline. Maryville is the type team that can get hit with a 15 yarder and score the very next play. I'm afraid if the Govs get caught in this type situation they won't pull through as easy. Also concerned if the Govs just want to hurry up and close up shop like the lady at the concession stand. I told my buddy from Dobyns-Bennett that they were mostly all warm blooded animals down here at WB and want to get into that basketball gym before it starts to get cold.

  21. So you want all of us that do go to the games to make sure and be there, but you're not going again? Make sure and give the tickets in hand to some OR kid that doesn't have $8.

  22. It was meant as joke like H2Oman correctly read and said. I don't want any kid to ever be injured or hurt. These guys are only guaranteed a handful of games. I don't want any kid to miss a chance to play in front of his hometown and family and friends because that means a lot and they build a ton of great memories and long lasting friendships. Once again I sincerely apologize! It was meant as a joke and came off as very distasteful and ugly!

  25. Okay in hindsight knowing what we know now , that post may have been off putting, but let’s look at this in hindsight. He was responding to a poster that had said half of your team would be coming back for H2O game. ( it was made as a joke, because he didn’t know how serious it was) BUT as you can see from his last reply ( after he knew it was serious) the poster sent his well wishes! Trust me… almost all posters on Coach T love football and wish nothing but the best for these kids. We may aggravate each other, but when it’s all said in done… it’s just adults aggravating adults. Now we can’t control if you take it personally, but I don’t think this poster meant any ill wishes to this kid or any other.

  27. I'm optimistic about Chattanooga. I read some of their plan and their goal is to make the event fun and interactive around the stadium and designed to generate a walk-up crowd. Still when you cram 9 state title games into 3 days, probably only Saturday is the best chance to draw a walk-up crowd of any significance. This year, CPA-Lipscomb (should they meet for the title as expected) would be one of the most interesting games of the year for the championship, but it will be held (I assume) Thursday afternoon so pretty minimal chance for it to generate a walk-up crowd. Seems like the TSSAA solves its annual problem of low attendance at championship games by just adding more games (and tickets sold).

  28. I agree with this. It does nothing for SP. If anything it hurts SP playing a team like this before the playoffs. I will add this to my previous post.... if SP comes away with no injuries they can count that as a W too. This was honestly a stupid decision on whomever was for this game happening.

  30. Slow your roll chief… no one on here has done nothing but wish this kid well… Though I don’t like TC Fans during football season. I or anyone on this thread has said anything personally about this kid or any other unless it was wishing him well! As for seeing you in a couple weeks… We will surely do that… God willing! PS: Hope the kids surgery goes well!

  31. Calhoun is having surgery Tuesday October 26 for a torn labrum on his throwing arm. For all you haters on here he will be back better than ever next year as your TCHS starting QB. And to the ones that say we dope our kids up I know his parents personally and his dad is a detective and his mom would die for her kids so no he will not be playing doped up or not until next year. The kid is broken because he is having to miss sports for a year. If anyone knows Kobyn Calhoun knows this is the hardest thing he has ever gone through. So stop with all the negative crap. And you Watertown fools we will see you in a few weeks to get that win,

  38. LOL.How much exposure does SP need? You guys are VERY well known across the State as a 1A powerhouse.National exposure wont do a thing for a Small school like you or us,in the end we are just small schools.

  39. Roy, this Creasy man is gonna be real mad when he gets to Beene Stadium and sees this Grey cup Jones man not there. He already beat this Super bowl Dilfer man and took his super bowl ring away from him. He was wanting to add a Grey cup ring to that collection.

  45. it sure didn't help that RB's defense was in our backfield more than our running backs. We were a hot mess, both offensively and defensively, and special teams as well. Two trips inside the 12 and got nothing. Muffed punt return. Tipped pass that ended up in another WR's hands for six. 60 + yard run by RB that he was hit at least five times and didn't wrap him up. You'd think we'd been off for a week or that it was Week 1 game again. We were flat and played uninspired football. Still have two games on the schedule to make a statement, and both are district games. We'll bounce back, and hard.

  46. From what I seen RB’s line both offensively and defensively was having their way with City’s line. Plus RB wanted it more it appeared. It wouldn’t have mattered if KJ played. This kind of loss may just fire them up so beware West teams.
