  2. Willie I respect what your saying but my coaches called me a lot worse when I messed up.Im taking shots at the oline as a whole instead of saying names.I also blame coaches way more than the players. We are not talking about an Oline who isnt good or below avg but one that has been as bad as it gets this yr .Somebody needs to get their little feelings hurt and fix it.Have respect for the tradition we left behind and get to work.Ive been to every game this yr and watched some players go thru the motions. We have way to many who need to find the weight room and work a little bit. Most importantly we need coaches holding players accountable starting now and making sure we fix the problem. As my coach would say if we have time to feel sorry for ourselves we aint working hard enough. The problem sure wont go away by acting like everything is ok

  5. Those folks who say Maryville is not athletic are probably not that athletic themselves. One look through the first 7 or so profiles on Maryville's HUDL account will tell you the Rebels have a stellar weightlifting and conditioning program. Teams do not win state titles by tactics and motivational speeches alone.

  6. I think most know that this is going to be a good game. The couple with the high scores I think maybe throwing a hook & bait out? Myers is a play maker for sure, but SG has a lot of play makers. They’re able to do what the do because they have a great Oline. Oline has good size, but not the largest and they’re athletic and strong. The D sometimes gets overshadowed, but is really good and much improved since last season against the run and pass coverage; we’ll balanced. It’s a whole team effort and dedication to hard work. I can promise the SG players and coaching staff is in no way going to take any opponent lightly nor overlook them. Trust me they all know how big the Oneida challenge is. They’re humble, but starving and they know the only way to continue is to keep eating.

  8. After reading all of these post, the one thing no one has mentioned is the other factor: Comer. Probably one of the best at dissecting tendencies and "making" the defense get into what he wants them in. If you watch any of our game film, it is very rare that Jackson Cassidy looks to the sideline to change a play. Why is that? See sentence two. It is true. Marquez Taylor is usually our first option. But, as many of you have noted, we have more than just him. Cassidy can hurt you with his legs and arm. McCreary will run over you. Our receivers Webber, Aird, and Cole have good hands. Our TE's, Anderson and Cook, will catch you sleeping and take a 5 yard hot route 30 plus yards. This is going to be a good one. Can't wait for Friday to get here. Kick-off temp in McKenzie is 43. TRUE FOOTBALL WEATHER!

  9. Pulling for the Dawgs to pull off the upset. Clay County’s athletes I think will catch SP by surprise at first on how good they are. I think Clay will put SP on their heels for majority of the game, but the Pirates pull away in the late stages of the game. It’s always fun to see the Upper Cumberland schools have success in all sports. One of the best parts of TN to watch any high school sport.

  10. I have no affiliation to either school let me get that out the way first, but if that’s the case then that is why metro hasn’t won anything since Hillsboro. The goal is not to be the best in metro, but the best in the state. PC has won plenty of freshman city championships but what has that translated to a couple of runner-ups. As a competitor I want to measure myself against the teams that complete the job and win state.

  11. So far I like Christian as head coach and he's a good guy. But he will never be a great coach if he doesn't fill those holes in his staff and also get down in the little leagues/middle school and fix that mess.

  14. I would say 40% considering he is most dangerous with his legs. He is also a good thrower, just a a great runner in my opinion. @TheTruthPrevails & @PurplePower68 could probably give you a better idea. We seem to have different sources/contacts when it comes to the program.

  15. We are as healthy as we can get right now with the exception of one player. It has been talked about repeatedly so if you missed it I'll let you go back and figure out who the player is. It's football and injuries happen. It's not an excuse and it never should be. Coaching staffs should be able to adjust when this happens and make the most of what they have. I don't expect to see anything new from MC this week. We are who we are, which is a line em up team and out-physical the opponent with our run game. Could Dale have a couple of tricks up his sleeve? Maybe, but it sure is hard to teach an old dog new tricks. Our passing game is so so, not a big enough threat to make H2O not load the box. I think you are making the right call going to Meigs. I picked TC as the sleeper team to come out of the East at the beginning of the year. If Meigs handles them, unless there are unforeseen circumstances that pop up, they will be representing the East in Chattanooga.

  18. That would make the most sense to me, as well. There is a reason they are changing head coaches, and new head coaches should always have the opportunity to select the coordinators he wants in place. But that doesn't always mean that current staff members aren't considered, but it still should be the new coach's choice. If it's not going to be, don't even make a change.

  20. I will come out of retirement to send my deepest sympathies to BigEd’s family and friends. He obviously loved his team and was passionate about them. He will be missed and I am saddened for his passing. Blessings to all at this difficult time.

  21. I think he just as good as Luke, just younger. He has the potential to possibly be better and that’s no knock against Luke. Either way against Oneida’s D the Oline is going to have to protect and that’s a challenge.

  22. Yeah, that's the way it used to be. Not now, kids for the most part these days aren't willing to pay those consequences. these days they will just go do something else, it's just not that important to them. They'll quit before they "run til it hurts". Sad but true

  23. It comes down to discipline and consequences for your actions. The best teams will rep plays and cadence until they can do it without even thinking, it becomes instinct. Then those players that made the mistakes on Friday will be running after practice on Monday, and i don't mean a lap around the field, i mean running until it hurts. The next game when you line up there's no way in hades that kid is moving early. And repeat offenders won't have to worry about future penalties because they are on the sidelines watching proper execution. It's the same mentality that our armed services use in basic training.

  24. I'll say this, it would be extremely hard for any team to just contain that kid. He is definitely that good of a scrambler. Best bet is to force a throw and hope for the best if you k ow what I mean. As athletic as Meigs was he still ran around like a deer. Very elusive player.

  25. I've opened this thread a dozen times and just couldn't find the words. Ed was a man of conviction and wore his heart on his sleeve. He was my friend, and though we didn't see each other often he will be missed greatly. May God grant those who need it the peace and acceptance to live their lives without him until they meet again. RIP my friend.

  26. Rhea Co averaging about 36 per game, Karns giving up 30 per game. Rhea only giving up 24 per game and that's with Alcoa, Betsey and Bradley Central on the schedule. Karns will seem like a 8th grade team compared to those guys. Rhea wins 42-21

  30. Lots of talent with speed and power at the skill positions but not as strong on the offensive line this year. They have made significant strides from early on in the season though. On the defensive side of the ball we are finally healthy. Line is huge and disruptive, Linebackers and secondary are very quick to the ball.

  31. Those of us here the "T" tend to lay fairly low RR....The fan support this year has been great. I would expect there will be a large following in Maryville this Friday. Not sure if the band will make the trip, however I haven't heard they will not be traveling. Forecast looks like good football weather. As far as the game goes, everyone knows the task at hand for the Pack. These Wolves have been told all year long they wont/can't win, from preseason (predicted to go 0-10 or 1-9) to the first playoff game. With that said, I couldn't be more proud of the coaches, players and fans for coming together to support this new school. Nothing but total respect for the program there at Maryville and what they have done and sustained over the years. You guys have done what every single school in TN aspires to be. Praying for a clean game with no injuries and as always GO PACK GO!!!!

  37. I'm a D-B fan, however my daughter will be a freshman at West Ridge next year, so I was pulling for the Wolves as well. Hope y'all go down to Maryville and shock the world next Friday. I won't be making the trip however... going to catch a game or two in the Virginia playoffs this week I believe.

  38. 1. The solution begins with electing a new mayor at the next election. I would like to see MNPS broken into multiple (maybe up to 4) separate school districts. The bureaucracy within MNPS makes it impossible to get anything done. Everyone just points a finger at someone else but with smaller school districts that becomes much more difficult. Let's also remember that the last several mayors have not been graduates of MNPS or any public schools. Most of our past mayors have attended private high schools. 2. Dr. Adrienne Battle appears to someone that could do a good job if given the necessary support and resources 3. Yes, facilities are atrocious but for the most part the coaching is also not very good 4. I am fully aware of how MNPS look on both the outside and inside. They have bars over the office windows, schools need to be painted, roofs are leaking and we have not even discussed how most of the shower areas have become storage rooms and athletes have no place to take a shower after games and practice. Put simply MNPS are a disaster and I truly feel for the parents that are forced to send their children into an environment where few people care!

  46. If we both won that would set up something that has never happened in 50 years, Musket Bowl 2.0 We both know the probability of both of us winning is not good, however everyone was saying we would both lose round 1 as well. To tell you the truth I thought R2 would go 4-0 against us but they didn't. So anything can happen. Could you even imagine the excitement of a Boone/Crockett round 3 game?

  49. Page HS is going to be really good again. They made the AAA state tournament this past year and graduated nobody. They've got a chance to win the whole thing. Jackson South Side will be strong. I heard they lost their post to another knee injury, but even without her, they'll be a threat because of the way they defend.
