You're not crazy, it very well could happen. For the past 10-15 years I have caught at least one Maryville game each year and was always amazed at how composed GQ was on the sidelines no matter what was happening on the field. I divide coaches into 2 broad groups:
1) Off-field coaching (getting players ready, developing them, conditioning, discipline, etc.)
2) Game-day coaching (making the right calls at the right time)
#1 and #2 are not the same thing, not even close. Some coaches are great at one or the other but I would say GQ is a master at both.
