  1. No, I have not, fill us in. YB, you know more about what's going on at OR than we do. Seems a bit odd.

  2. D1A has several strong teams and some very good individuals. I would like to see a Dual State Tournament divided up between D1A, D1AA and D2. After that tournament is completed lets throw everyone into the mix for one big combined traditional state tournament. It would really make for some great scraps for the individual state championship

  3. Pearl Cohn at Springfield next Friday. I didn’t even know we could field a team in the spring with track lol.

  4. I pick MP to be good every year, and every year they bomb. Not doing it this year. Forrest won R4 in 2015 and 2016 when Eagleville was still good and the region had Watertown and Westmoreland. They won it in 2019 when Lewis was there and good. The 2021 region win was the least impressive in Forrest history. I'll still pick them to win again this year.

  5. They won't play AC either, that's so weak.

  6. As you can see, with Alcoa, Rhea, and some of the others, the Chargers were willing to play good teams.

  8. Karns has never been an easy job. When he was there I know that's when GCA which is very near had just started up and was getting loads of their players during the time Robert was at Karns. This years 7-5 Karns was the best record that school has had since 1971 50 years ago when they went 8=3. For fifty years it's been the black eye of Knoxville Football like Heritage has been for the past 33 years with WB fighting hard for a piece of that pie every now and then.

  9. First thing is first, most of this started when Ridge took over and losing to the worst team in the state in 6A Bearden. It really didn't work out good for him at Greenback so why give him the Titanic to drive when he wasn't doing very well with a row boat( Greenback). Then along came Shad with so much baggage from Blackman right in the middle of an investigation when they all but told the middle school coach he was going to be the man. What a stink bomb that was. Then Shad comes in realizing what he had stepped into and applications were hitting every fax machine in the state for coaching vacancies you could think of, even Sequoyah turned him down, I guess someone must read Coach T down there. I will give Robert a benefit of a doubt for one reason and that is he wanted the job and a opportunity plus he has had some experience at Karns in the past. I think Robert is a good man but this won't be an easy job especially after what all this program has been through the past dozen years. I may be wrong because I don't know but someone told me the qb left over a difference in the offense he was going to run but like I say that is from a third party. I know Maryville lost a real good player to WB and we all hope him nothing but the best. Far as spring I have not been to one practice anywhere because I've been busy as a one handed wall paper hanger.

  10. According to tssaa site when I looked last summer most bearden coaches was teachers in the building so it is new to this level at least if what you say is true on the current situation. Yikes!

  11. Drew was in the transfer portal and he has found a new home at VA Tech. Drew is a 2 times National Qualifier and 2 time SoCon Champ. Can’t wait to see Drew compete in the ACC.

  12. The New Word of the Day at William Blount is Office and Pee Cup. Not much interest anymore from outsiders since Shad left Office job as the football coach and headed out of town in his Pee Cup truck.

  13. Young Rocky is a prolific bass fisherman. Won a few titles while in high school. Could be a motivator.

  15. I feel confident that if UTC wanted to hire Jordan Leen they would have to show him the money. He probably makes more money as an assistant coach than he would as the head coach at UTC. Personally I am not convinced that UTC will ever be able to consistently sign the top D2 kids from Tennessee. Over the years those kids have shown a tendency to go to one of the top academic schools in the country or a top 25 wrestling program. UTC must find a way to bring in some great workout partners for the team if they ever expect to consistently have All-Americans. I am afraid that if UTC is ever going to have a Top 25 program they must find lighting in a bottle with some young coach that never has any intention of leaving Chattanooga. Much like The University of Tennessee did when they hired baseball coach Tony Vitello.

  16. I would argue that the Mocs aren't even mediocre right now. I wish they were LOL. This program is unfortunately one of the worst in the country right now. The results prove that. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Jordan Leen. He has the coaching experience, too. He would be a homerun hire in my opinion.

  17. Chatt Wrestling has been and will always be mediocre. We may sneak a few to the blood rounds at ncaa's but thats likely going to be about it. I don't think id throw all the blame on Kyle. You work with what you got. Sure he's gotta get some for not attempting to recruit anybody in state but its gotta be hard to believe in a program as a coaching staff when the university itself clearly doesn't care either.

  18. Kyle and his staff's inability to keep the state's top recruits at home is a major red flag. Keeping the top TN kids in TN wouldn't solve all of their issues but it would be a move in the right direction. I get the sense that his struggles to keep these guys in state stem from a lack of effort. Example: Baylor is less than a 10 min drive from campus, I wonder if he ever even attended one of their dual meets or called any of those guys? James Howard is right down the road at McCallie and you have the Yost connection... All that talent at Cleveland and Coach Knox is a UTC alumnus... You have the Uhorochuk brothers at Signal... You get the point...This is all talent that is literally right in your backyard. How are you not getting some of these kids? When you have a Mark Branch at Wyoming (over 1,000 miles away) who is showing guys like Harper and Dendy more interest than Kyle who is 10 minutes away, that's an issue. Then you don't even call the state's best wrestler, Hunter Mason or someone like Kodiak that's a 4xer and ranked in the top 20 nationally? If one goes with the line of thinking, "Well a Hunter Mason would never go to UTC, why waste the time trying to recruit him?" Not even trying to recruit your state's top prospect is essentially admitting we're no good, I've got no confidence in my ability to attract top talent, and we're content with that. Unbelievable! I would bet a lot of money that Hunter would have been Bono or Heath's first call. That in itself is a fireable offense for a D1 head coach. I wonder if he even thought to call Corday when he decommitted from Army? That was another potential score that was missed. These in state guys are all quality students, too, that could likely receive some academic aid through the Hope Scholarship to help with the program's alleged lack of funding its full 9.9 allowable scholarships. Unacceptable to not put more effort into these guys. Unfortunately, I struggle to find any reason to believe Ruschell will get this program to reach its potential.

  19. It would be nice if UTC could somehow get David Taylor involved in the program since his parents now live in Chattanooga. Yes, he is still completely active in freestyle and such for team USA, but it would be nice if they could bring him in somehow just to maybe light a fire to the program.

  20. Why not just make it a 15 second clock? 10 to cross the timeline, then 5 to get off a shot...would almost completely take coaching and strategy out of the gameplan. Excitement level would be off the charts too, with a loose ball situation or a trap resulting in an almost certain turnover. Pace would be furious and benches would get some serious playing time with starters going full tilt until exhausted. The only downside would be that basketball knowledge and strategy wouldn't matter much, but hey...if the fans want fast and furious, give 'em what they want.

  21. It will be hard for the one coach in the building, if he is the only one. Bearden parents are notorious for wanting to show up at school and want to talk to administration and coaches, with out warning. Some parents are very high powered. Then you have salesmen and recruiters. I heard there will be a new AD. Good luck to him. The principal who hired the staff and defacto vetted and approved his coaching staff said that they will be inovative and have coaches constantly walking the halls and not be tied to a classroom or a schedule of bells that ties them to students but give them the freedom to meet the football players needs. I guess BHS football players and coaching staff will be trend setters for Knox County, the state and maybe the nation.
