  1. Is it really though? In title, sure. But is it REALLY deserving of being a D1 program? Our NCAA teams are horrible. I’m not saying it to hurt feelings, but it’s the truth that most don’t want to say at risk of offending the respective coaches. Chattanooga has been a disappointment for a long time. So has King. It can be dressed up and excused however anyone wants to, but those are facts. TN kids deserve better programs to aspire to be a part of when they age into college wrestling.

  2. 14 Years since our last All American Our 4 qualifiers this year went a combined 1-8. UTC wrestling at least used to win the SoCon more than any other team. We haven't won a title there in 7 years. Are we the joke of NCAA wrestling?

  3. TN needs them. I am no means the best coach but I'm always improving like I preach to all my wrestlers. I have an opportunity to help grow TN and I’m doing my very best. Together we can build a dominant women’s and men’s programs.

  6. secondary and linebackers have got to get better, I think they will be better and get a good amount of stops. Could see players playing different spots and rotating more to stay fresh for the fast pace. Would be good if some of the younger players could get their feet wet for development just Incase of injuries.

  7. You do realize that HS football is there for the kids, right? It's easy for you to throw some elitist comment out there that degrades struggling programs, but what isn't easy is to elevate struggling programs into a competitive team every night of the season. One last thing, football is elective...kids aren't forced to participate in an activity that you obviously think is an embarrassment to them if they don't achieve a certain level of success, but if they do elect to play, they get the same sense of belonging, the same tutelage and mentorship, the same physical fitness, and the same commitment of their time away from elements of society detrimental to them becoming productive citizens. Take the option to play, even for a "bad" (your perception) team, away from those who wish to play and you've taken something from them that you can't replace.

  9. We're not talking about medaling at the SoCon tournament, clearly. The SoCon is the weakest conference in the ncaa. We're very clearly talking about medaling at the NCAA tournament. You know, the one that matters...

  10. There is no way that the powers that be from "the Mecca of wrestling in this state" were gonna allow UTC to bring in a coach from Middle Tennessee. Especially a Simpson.

  11. The most reoccurring trend I’ve noticed is kids will commit to other major schools. Wrestle there for one year. Transfer to UTC. Wreslte there for one year, maybe two. Then leave the team. Or commit to UTC. Wrestle there for one year, maybe two. Then quit.

  12. 4th year in a row finishing 3rd in the SoCon tourney. Third year in a row (excluding the canceled year) finishing 56th at the Ncaa Tourney. In the three NCAA tourneys since Kyle has taken over our kids are a combined 4-24, and this is excluding 2020 where the NCAA, mercifully for us, canceled the tourney. We're not making any moves in the positive direction.

  13. I'm sure the mindset of all d1 coaches is to perform to the highest standard but lets be clear here. The program isnt headed in the right direction. That isnt to say they wont in the future, but as of now, they're not headed in the right direction. St Peters did it in basketball, UTC did not do it in wrestling.

  14. The former head coach drove the program soft with the good ole boy recruiting and rah rah motivational speeches. No matter who took over, the culture change needed to produce All-Americans is momentous.
