  1. We reached out to several Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi powers. Also every school mentioned above... we will probably pick up Oakland next season. Covington and Henry County are the only area teams with a set, imo that would play if they didn't have to. As a side note, most teams in Memphis are aware of how good this team and staff are from their time in Memphis and want no part of the phusicality.

  2. We need a gold ball polisher. I’ll get you an application. I know you guys don’t have any so I’m sure there someone at usj willing to do it. Probably would be the only way you will get to touch one

  7. That's going to hurt us when people moving in with BOC start looking for a place to live. Tipton County, Arlington, Lakeland, and Fayette County have higher rated schools than Haywood County.

  8. We have had a very successful booster club in the past, I'm not sure what happened. We know how it's done, but for some reason it's not getting done. TBH, I believe the school system as a whole has lost a great deal of community support.

  9. That’s the type of stuff I’m talkin bout smh, it’s sad.. the high school sells merchandise but as far as the community backing them it’s bad. If we were a losing team there would be no one in the stands. Prime example in 2018. We began the season 2-4. Mind you we played briarcrest (L) MUS (L) Dyersburg (L) and Henry Co. (L) the stands where so bare you could see the back of the press box. And when they hit their stride the “the support” came back we lost to greeneville that season

  10. Speaking of the lack of community support...I just learned today that we no longer have a football booster club. For a team that has won 10 or more games every season for the last 6 years and played in two state championship games over that same period of time, what's up with that?

  11. We played Olive Branch, MS in 2019 and lost 42-7. We played Marion in the season opener in 2016 and defeated the Wildcats by a score of 35-34. It was a very exciting back and forth game. https://www.dailyrepublicannews.com/sports/20160828/wildcats-lose-tough-one-against-haywood

  12. In my opinion, they’ll be fine as long as they stay focus.

  13. After 15 years, I have stepped down to spend more time being a dad. I'm still teaching at Bearden and will help transition the new coach.

  16. The better game will be DB vs Greeneville. That game could go either way and should be very competitive and good indicator of both teams potential playoff caliber.

  18. Jealousy? Nah, it has nothing to do with that. It’s the fact that the County went overboard with LC. I know new schools will get the latest and greatest everything, and they should, but they took it to the extreme with LC on the County’s dime. All the while, all the other schools in the County have been handed scraps for years. Funding pulled, budgets cut, you name it. This is Dr. Phillips’s crown jewel, and he made sure the County spared no expense. It’s no coincidence that he is stepping down after this school year. And he just happens to be staying on in an advisory role until LCMS is completed. It is also the fact that they are letting the school get away with stuff that no other school in the County can. The softball coach has blatantly recruited a juggernaut, and everybody knows it. At least 2/3 of that roster is out of zone, and she gives private lessons to most of them. That’s an infraction. That’s facts! Thing is Phillips will not let another school in the County turn in another school for infractions. Any complaint to the TSSAA will have to come from a school in another County. It will happen eventually, when they step on the wrong toes.

  19. Good Post…Lots of rumors and innuendos being put out there about LC that are just plain false.Jealousy lives freely in Sumner County.

  20. My info says that Covington travels to Huntingdon this week for a scrimmage. I’m not making that trip, but I would appreciate a summary of the action. If anyone goes to the scrimmage, would you mind posting details here? Thanks in advance.

  21. Too many things in this thread that are just inaccurate. Principal and AD at schools weren't asked to falsify records. Previous schools do not have to give the date of last participation unless asked. Current school fills out the transfer form. All incoming freshmen enrolled in the school are eligible. All students zoned to the new school are eligible. All other students may request a hardship that will either be approved or denied by the TSSAA. The information contained in the hardship request is subject to the integrity of the persons filling it out. The previous school should be involved by sending a letter stating that the move was not for athletic purposes (this could be subject to Director influence). These rules apply to all sports, not just football.

  22. I’m not sure if the entire roster, but I know there are a ton of rising freshmen going in softball. That makes it an open zone issue more than a TSSAA issue. If you’re going to let one school recruit and poach, let everyone.

  23. South Greene will be back to the tournament. It will be hard to replace two-time All staters, Sydney Gentry and Addison Williams, but by tournament time, the team will be ready to defend its title. Players to watch will be last year's tournament MVP, senior Jordyn Roderick and senior Macey Snapp, both of whom were all-state last year. Snapp, at Libero, is the type of player everyone would like on their team. She is pure hustle and never gives up on a ball. The team has only three seniors, but don't underestimate South Greene. Coach Stephen Gregg knows his players and puts them in a position to win, as evidenced by their tournament play last year.

  25. Since this is a metro board I will try to keep it metro. It looks like PC’s scrimmage woke the posters up! PC plays anybody and have a lot of schools that want to see them. They can’t give up the MBA game for a long list of HISTORICAL reasons…must be a Nashville native to understand. I do recall last year that LA did have a chance to play them and Dilfer chose and called out Oakland…not mad at that since they were the bigger fish. I am a D2 guy but support Nashville D1 teams as I am impressed with what the coaches do with such a lack of support from MNPS. It is criminal when a team has to travel elsewhere just to practice! I have lived in other states and have witnessed what public school support for athletics looks like. There is a reason the top 10 public schools in Texas would demolish the private school league champs every year. Give metro schools the same support and this would be an entirely different conversation. The privates would no longer have the hold on the area’s better athletes. I have fun messing with @EastNasty and we will beat lil East in a few weeks, but we clearly have an advantage and I am man enough to admit it.
