  1. Really? I checked FOUR different sources, one was local paper, one was radio, two were individuals, with one of those being from the school the dad is at, the 3-1 consensus was Roderhaver.. and I KNOW that family & friends will excuse those who may not know the correct spelling of an unusual last name., I have an unusual first name that very few get correct even when I tell them.. no biggie. I think being a grammar-cop in this case isn’t respectful either. I still cannot find any “official” lists, as diff public news agencies are still working it diff ways. As I posted to begin with, if last name was misspelled to please forgive. To have a push-back & reaction such as yours, while thinking you may be helping, personally I think you made need a slight check-to from the neck-up & heart-adjustment. But I just an old, poor, dumb hick from the sticks who KNOWS the power of God & sincere prayers, which the Lord showed up & showed out in this case. Just trying to help in this case as I could.. a post in another place I made reached nearly 30,000 people, who united in a massive army of prayer warriors. With ZERO folk rebuking any errors of spelling. Perhaps you could learn from them too?? Or maybe not.. perhaps the Lord has called you to be the grammar-cop to correct all mistakes that YOU think needs correcting. Not the person(s) involved mind you, but you doing so on their behalf. Shining Knight in polished armor coming to the rescue, eh? Interesting ministry, pretty unusual, haven’t seen the likes of such a thing since since I was placed into His f.t. ministry in 1978, but I definitely do NOT know everything & am daily, literally, still learning new things. So I may be mistaken (yet again in an endless list of foul-ups & flubs!), so if this is your calling, be ye faithful if that’s your thing, go all out! The rest of us will still be praying, and giving a little grace & patience to those who make mistakes. Including you. But whadda I know? Right? I probably need to sit at your feet as the mentor I need to make sure everything’s perfect? Are you taking disciples? Learners? Just asking for a friend.

  2. Listen, the the targeting doesn't bother me a whole lot, kids still do it sometimes because of bad habits. If it'd been a bang-bang play and he was just a fraction of a second getting there too early, it wouldn't bother me as much. But #53 had Russell completely laid out and bleeding on the turf before the punt ever even hit the ground. It's blatantly obvious #53 had one mission on that play, and it was to take Russell out. If you think any differently, you have no business being associated with football in this day and age. If Carter has one single ounce of integrity, he'd remove that kid from the team, permanently. If me or you tried doing something like that to somebody, we'd be sitting in a holding cell awaiting arraignment right now.

  10. Pulling for the Mavs. Yes, SH just beat Elizabethton but the Cyclones are down this year, as of yet they have no offensive identity. Now I suspect they will find themselves at some point but it may take a few games. So how good is the Hill? Really hard to say until another couple of games get played, but I'm not convinced...

  11. First, no complaints here with public and private schools scheduling regular season games...second, no complaints about privates offering aid to students. They are not "in it" to make money, but still have to "run their business" and finances on their own, and those decisions should be made by their own administration...third, the REAL advantage that privates hold over public schools is not the ability to recruit, but the ability to restrict student population while selecting which students to accept or deny. Pro teams only have 54 players, but they select which 54 are on the team.

  13. Make the trip friend. Just walk up on any group tailgating and tell ‘‘em who you are and eat up. No place I’ve ever traveled to has the atmosphere of a Henry county home game. Especially a home opener…. Against Beech.

  14. Who knows at this point. I just wasn't impressed with Peabody or Milan at all. I do believe SGC has a very, VERY GOOD, squad with a ton of potential. Haywood is Haywood. Henry is Henry. McKenzie is Rick Flair at this point. To be the man.... UC was impressive, but I'm not convinced LC wasn't a little over hyped. Munford may actually prove to be the best of them all.

  16. The team does. It's hard to win championships unless you are Alcoa. Maryville's path has got a lot harder with Oakland being so good.

  17. I’m sure Donavon has HS some headwinds getting this off the ground. Just to produce a book like this is a task. However, it’s a business venture and we’re all used to the product that Murphy put out. I ordered and paid for mine 32 days ago. Got the email on 8/8 just like everyone else. Said they shipped the previous Monday (8/1). I questioned the ship method and was told media mail. Got a response that ‘I can’t control the post office’. That didn’t sit well with me. There’s no way to request a refund. There’s no way to track shipment. I was a little skeptical when I ordered because it’s through a ‘fundraising’ app. Hindsight this looks and feels like he didn’t have the funds to print up front so he had to raise money first to get it started. Would have to then order in batches as he raises the money. That could explain the delays in receiving. His responses and lack of information don’t sit well with me. If he had approached this endeavor with a request for funding as opposed to ‘selling me a book’ I might have ponied up some money to help him get it started. Don’t have enough ‘trust in the bank’ for him now. Just my two cents. Hope everyone enjoys the season regardless. Friday nights in Tennessee are special and create great memories for lots of kids and their families. Go out and support your local HS. When you get a chance, travel somewhere else in the state and watch a game. Lots of great HS football out there and some great stories being told.

  19. I am sure the suspension will be appealed to the TSSAA, but I doubt they will reverse it. I thought there were a lot of strange nickel dime calls in this game. Seems like flags flew from everywhere. Looked like a used car lot.

  25. Well it's nice to see OR's offensive line take a step forward! They still have a ways to go, but I'll admit, I saw improvement out there against SD. That should bode well moving forward, and you guys have plenty to look forward to. That said, SD looked downright terrible. They are in for a VERY long season.

  26. Based off highlights looks like offense has changed some. I think CCS ran wing T last year so that alone allows for more chances. Hope we can contain him for a half and atleast make it competitive.

  27. This is exactly what happened. Total BS. Anybody familiar with Knox area football will recognize the ref that threw the flag from 20 yards away. 13 lined up on the outside of the extra point formation was yanked to the ground by his helmet that got ripped off. His teammate walked him out to the 20 yard line, he picked up his helmet and walked off the field and the flag came came down from 20 yards away. C'mon man.

  35. Putnam schoolboard needs to man up and build Upperman a quality stadium or upgrade what they have. They cut the funding when built for other projects and never touched it since. Cookeville has 5× as many seats and turf. It's a joke what Monterey abd UHS get compared to CHS and both have better programs. Putnam needs to invest in a winner, or at least try and be fair.

  37. Some things to clean up that are very fixable. But if you win 45-7 on what some feel was a "bad" day you must have some things going for you.

  38. I think Maryville fans are spoiled bigtime. I remember 22 years ago Maryville losing to Heritage 28 0. Bad thing was Heritage let up. They could have scored more. Complaining about a 45 7 win when Maryville is up 38 0 halftime sounds crazy.

  39. Thank you. Didn't intend to make it appear that I was looking for sympathy, so I didn't bring it here. But I know that I am extremely blessed to be able to have a skilled surgeon get it all out and eliminate the need for chemo or radiation treatment. Appreciate your thoughts.

  40. Unreal as far as the nitpick penalties go. I saw more than a few where I had no idea what the refs saw. DC said the refs supervisor was there tonight, so I’m sure that had something to do with it. You’re right, though, Scott needs to clamp down on our kids that run their mouths. Unacceptable.

  43. I wouldn't pay attention to this new guy. It is weird but I think I remember when you first came on CoachT you explained you had a son on the team. This was many years ago. I think he didn't play all four years. Again, don't let trolls bother you especially with OR getting ready to have a great season.

  45. Hard to make that claim since AC doesn't play Oak Ridge or Clinton, so they can't be evaluated head to head. In Clinton I keep hearing the slow, steady "Year of the Dragon" but we will see on Week 3 here at Blankenship. I do really like what I see is going on with Oak Ridge and the new energy that seems to be in the players and staff. Last year was an odd year and they lost a lot of one score games. I think they flip that record this season.

  46. No your the clown, an uninformed one at that. The wheels are in motion as I type this by the powers that are in charge not to let this program turn into a William Blount for the investment they have made with the field and visitor stands and the entire future of the program. Everyone has their opinion but it was very clear during the one game on TV Joe's age has caught up with him physically as he walked the sidelines while everyone at home was left wondering if he was going to get hurt. Whatever happens Oak Ridge will be in good hands for those worried about what kids read. They knew more in the second grade then most of us when we got out of school.

  47. If the Wildcat players do happen to read what we old guys think on a message board - Please get in the weight room. Please watch some instructional video on the nuances of the game. Please educate yourself enough to be a coach on the field. Please watch some film of Spencer Gulmire, James Mitchell, Ethan Grumski, Elliott Normand, Alex Alcorn, Kendyll Clark, Jacob Adams, or Jacob Bervin. Recognize the warrior spirit of these former players and play with a heart the size of a mountain. Believe it or not, effort on the field will prepare you to be a winner in life. Longtime Wildcat fans will support your efforts, but keep in mind, they know what effort looks like. Respect is earned. Bring it back it 2022
