  1. I would be remissed not to give the best Six Win and Five Loss team in the state a shout-out, The BLACK AND ORANGE OF ELIZABETHTON! What you all did was amazing after your start this year.

  2. Tyner gpt the win tonight. Give them credit. Westmoreland needed to play a perfect game with some help from Tyner. It didnt hapoen. But one game doesn't diminish the big strides this core group of Seniors made this year. We improved from 3 wins last year to 7 this year with a first round home playoff win. More importantly i think these guys laid the ground work in showing the underclassmen what it takes to win. Especially proud of my grand son Kam Eden #14. He had a great year at QB and corner back. He had 1000+ yards rushing with 15 TDs and 8 TD passes running a wing T offense. He also had 3 interceptions at corner and some notable "big hits". Most proud of his character, he has heard me make comments about play calling, offensive scheme etc. that i didnt like but the young man has reminded me that instead of complaining about things, do your best to make them better. I know he's hurting right now but well done son, you made yourself into a ball player

  3. Well good news the school was able to get a refund and on short notice a different charter company said they could take the team.

  4. Westview had four starters out yes. Yall had about 20 chop blocks not called so you should have had 40 penalties . You were the dirtiest team WV played all year. I hope Huntington donkey stomps UC in the ground !

  6. Well, first hats off to the Pirates for fighting hard in this game. What looked like a huge blowout was salvaged by guts. For Gordonsville, congrats on getting the monkey off yalls backs. I hope #5 is okay. He was a tough player. You guys played tenaciously and physical. For SP, defense I tip my hat too. Somehow, they keep finding a way to get stops. Offensively, it was rough. Drops, miscommunication, players not knowing where to line up, players not knowing what play was called, etc.. If you look chaotic and play chaotic odds are not in your favor. Most people that have watched this team knew the deficiencies started up front. When you can’t get a push up front to get 2 yards, it’s hard to win a ball game. I think Gordonsville represents the east. Sorry Clay. But, silver will be going east. I just think Fayetteville is a monster. Congrats Tigers and good effort Pirates

  7. Gotta give a shout out to our Hampton buddies too. Apparently, at one point when we had secured a bus, but no driver. Principal Young at Valley Forge Elementary , whose son plays for Hampton volunteered to drive the Unaka bus and would have missed his own sons game. Did not come to that, but certainly the offer along was beyond generous.

  8. Well in fairness, Carter's coach takes to Twitter when the offense doesn't have the ball so the kids are basically coaching themselves.

  9. 1. Lewis playoff history. The coach is new but a lot of the players aren't. 2. Adamsville has the hot hand. That's huge in the postseason at any level. They also have a stout runner who can control clock and keep Lewis passing game off the field. 3. Road teams are more focused as the rounds get later. Just a theory but I think there will be a pucker factor in Hohenwald tonight. Adamsville has nothing to lose. 4. Lewis hasn't really blown teams out. They sort of grind them into 8-10 point wins. Not counting the hickmans of the world. 5. I'm human. Lewis might mercy rule them, but I don't think so 6. Rematches often favor the team that lost the first time. They have more room for improvement.

  11. To be clear, my point was to address your initial statement: "If you’re going to complain about something, propose a solution, with real scenarios and some kind of fiscal solution." I have not offered a solution, nor have I attacked anyone or TSSAA. I read the last 5 words of the above statement which drove my curiosity about TSSAA finances. Which I then researched and posted here, with commentary. The information provided was holistic in form with no manipulation, allowing others to come to their own conclusions. Furthermore, section VII of form 990 clearly outlines what falls under executive compensation (both current and past), thus your classification comment is invalid. You may want to ensure you knowledge of business and process are sound before you accuse someone of manipulating / skewing data. My commentary is my opinion from 35 years of being a business owner, equity partner, shareholder, executive and non-profit founder / executive, in companies both public and private. I clearly understand TSSAA concern (I would say panic if it were me) following FY2020, an $800K loss and operating capital falling to less than a year of operating expenses is getting close to insolvent. However, the following year has presented a rebound. With all this said, my point remains, executive compensation is higher than similar organizations & business. The only solution for this would be for the Board of Directors to commission a study on Executive Compensation, do the work and recommend a "right sizing" of the Executive Positions, Compensation or both. In my opinion this would net $200K - $300K savings annually. Which puts TSSAA in a better fiscal position, sooner. It's Friday, we have football tonight. Let's hope the rain does not dampen folks desire to come out and what the teams play! Go Cougars! Go Blaze!

  12. It's week 2 of the playoffs; better known as the Quarterfinals in Div 2-A. Below are my thoughts on each game. My predictions are just me having fun by trying to guess the scores. Let me know your thoughts of the games. FC vs DCA..week 3 rematch in which FC won fairly easy. Since that game; DCA has won 6 games by an average of 39.5 points but have lost 3 games by an average of 33.3 points. FC is very solid at QB, RB and has a really good WR. I don't see DCA being able to stop FC on Friday night. DCA stays within shouting distance in the first half but FC pulls away in the 2nd half for a 38-14 win. NCS vs TCA..TCA will make a trip east on I-40 to Nashville. They are coming off an exciting win against King's Acd. that was sparked by a 75+ yard interception return for a touchdown. TCA is a young team and I think the future looks bright for the Lions. However, NCS is playing solid football and has won 8 straight games. They earned a bye last week after winning the region the prior week by beating DCA. The Eagles' QB is up for Mr. Football as a freshman. He has a solid arm and moves very well. Both #24 and # 25 run the ball well and they have 2 or 3 guys on the outside that can catch it. The future is bright for TCA but tonight won't be their night. NCS wins 42-7 JCS vs MTCS..I think this will be the best game of the 4. JCS enters with a solid first round win over Columbia Academy and MTCS also had a good win over TRA. I have seen JCS in person and watched 2-3 games of MTCS online. My advice to JCS is to win the toss and receive the ball. For them to win; they need to score early and make MTCS play catch up. The Eagles will have a QB making his 2nd start of the year. His job will be to secure the snap and hand it off to either 1, 3 or 23. #3 Boyd is a smaller kid but very strong. He will try to hide behind his lineman and then hit a hole. Very fast and hard to bring down in open field. JCS will try to get #1 and #3 the ball outside the tackles. They will run a lot of jet sweeps or pitches. MTCS will be in for a long night if #1 and #3 live outside most of the game. That being said; MTCS is all about the run game. They will line up and are trying to get 3-4 yards a clip. They are fine with slower, time consuming drives. The Cougars aren't afraid to go on 4th and short on their side of the field. I believe they did it twice against FC. If MTCS gets a lead; they could make it very tough on JCS with their running game. This game might not last more than 1.5 hrs as both teams offensive strength is running the ball. I really not sure either team will be able to completely stop the run. JCS has a big advantage in the kicking game. #14 routinely kicks touchbacks and has a range of about 40 yards on FG's. This game comes down to a field goal and JCS pulls it out 24-21. USJ vs LCA..LCA went for 2 in OT to earn a win and advance to the 2nd round. USJ is coming off a bye after wining their region. The Bruins have won 8 straight and LCA has won their last 2 contest. LCA making it to the 2nd round in only their 2nd full year of football is impressive. LCA has an solid QB and a very good WR/RB in #1. The Lions will try to confuse the Bruins with the way they receive their play calls from the sidelines. They look towards the sidelines to get the play in a straight line and then break quickly into multiple formations. The Bruins will counter with a very good QB and RB (#31 Mr. Football candidate). #18 has multiple pass catchers that make it tough on defenses. #0 at H-back has great hands and feet for his size, #17 is about 6'7" and #5 has great ball skills. The leader of the pack is #8 Barksdale. The kid is a difference maker on both sides of the ball. He has 12 TD's on offense to go along with 5 int's on defense. I think the Lions will stay around early but will wear down on the defensive side of the ball. USJ is very big all the way across the offensive line. The Bruins defense is only allowing an average of 7.5 points per game while scoring 46.5. One interesting tidbit about this game; the Loins OC is from Jackson and played QB at Northside. LCA has had a great year. However, I believe their season ends Friday night as the Bruins win 45-7. The score might end up being a little closer but you have to remember that I'm a USJ homer!

  15. This is so true. Yeah, it is hard to recruit kids to play in a league where you're going to get hammered in league play week in and week out. Not looking too good for the Irish moving forward. When the bottom falls out, nobody is going to feel sorry for them considering their past, playing in the public division.

  16. Worst I have ever seen, glad our kids kept their composure. Jackets defense, can’t say enough on how well they played. Biggest surprise after the game actual handshake line was without any incident after the in game lack of composure by Munford. Best thing about Munford they gave us Johnny Jones for the Vols , whose run to the house with less than 2:48 in the game put a dagger in Bama on the third Saturday in October in Birmingham 1983. Alan Cockrell caught Bama in a blitz and ran beauitful option to Jones . Well great game Jackets .

  17. Frist congrats to Gordonsville on a hard fought win! Second I'm dang proud of our defense tonight and loved the in game adjustments early by our D coordinator. The Pirates youth showed way to much on offense tonight but still had opportunities to win the ballgame. Another very disappointing point was our crowd. Gordonsville pretty much had home field advantage in the noise category. As someone said before this was not your typical Sp team and we definitely won't be down for long. Goodluck to Gordonsville the rest of the way and hope to see you guys again next season.

  18. Eat some crow. You were absolutely wrong. White County scored more points on Nolensville than any team did the ENTIRE season. Nolensville had their hands full until the end. Nobody stopped Pinion and Dowell all year. Nolensvilles fairytale season continues. Great season WARRIORS !!!!! Proud of you !!!!!

  19. Our line was just so small this year and we can't throw the ball, Even Unaka dwarf's our line. Big strong team that can put 11 in there and blitz um all makes it tough to run. This team actually overachieved. We played hard until the QB broke the long one, after that they were running through thin air. All said and done Congrats to a Bigger stronger team that wanted it more, was very good sports and played hard with class. Hope you guys get you another one next week.

  24. I believe last years team overachieved given they ran Bryson basically every play with a pass to Jake occasionally. I think greeneville rolls tullahoma in that game. But you have to get there first and greeneville didn’t get that part done.

  42. IMO, Knoxville Catholic had best be prepared to hire Shane Mathews back and give him free rein to run the program as he sees fit or go outside the State of Tennessee to find a great high school coach. If I am completely honest, I don't know of a current Tennessee public school coach that is prepared to run a D2AAA football program. A perfect example is Father Ryan when they hired Bruce Lussier and now Brian Rector. Those two men were extremely successful public-school coaches but performed horribly at the D2AAA level. This is not going to be an inexpensive proposition as it cost money to compete with the top teams in D2AAA. It is being reported that Lipscomb Academy spends close to 1 million per season on football. It's not only the head coach that will demand a large salary (150K minimum) but you also have to pay 75k-90k each for the OC, DC and strength & conditioning coach. None of this is free and you are truly playing small college football. The Catholic schools in Tennessee appear to have suffered the most with D2 as you truly have both a recruiting and facilities war going on as I type. IMO all of the Catholic schools in D2AAA had their head in the sand and didn't want to believe what everyone was being told when the TSSAA separated the public and private schools. Now the Catholic schools are so far behind the top football programs in Tennessee that it's going to take not only the right person at the right time running the football programs, but it will now cost large sums of money to catchup and be able to compete for championships.

  43. Just seems like the perfect storm for it to work though. His prized recruiting class is graduating with not much more coming up, the administration tiring of fixing messes, and a couple jobs open that could buy him. Not saying it happens, but I'd be shocked if it doesn't.

  46. I wish we could get Covington dyersburg and Munford to schedule us every year! So far that has not happened. I see where my post seems contradicting. After playing 3 inner city Memphis schools, I would rather avoid them. Neither is nor them got much out of the games. Melrose tried to fight us after the game last year at our place and this year at theirs. Orange mound is not a safe place to travel to. I guess technically Whitehaven is an inner city school, but they have a good program. I considered the other schools county schools.

  47. AC QB is a Finalist for Mr. Football. Can’t wait to watch him shine Friday night throwing to all our tall receivers. Plus the weather is going to be just fine for a air raid. I believe Betsy defense is too good to run the ball on them but why run? We have the better QB and the better wide receivers. Looks like number 25 will be blocking their DE and my money is on number 25.
