  1. If you remember, I started this in 1997 but the forums, and therefore the user names, started in 2001 after a year with rivals.com. We make enough to make it worthwhile but I could never figure a way to really monetize it without charging and I just don't want to do that. I am actually considering selling it but only if the new owner will let me stay around and run it, at least for awhile. I am getting old (70) and I don't want the site to die when I do. My wife could do it for awhile but I don't want her to have to. Selling it would give the new owner time to train someone to run it while I'm still around to help. Wow, that is sad talk. Nuff of that.

  2. You wouldn't know what open enrollment was if it hit you in the face. Remove all of them since Alcoa, Oakland, Maryville, & Peabody are all open enrollment

  3. Much respect to Riverside, most of us true Ram fans knew this was going to be a battle to the end and not a blowout. Riverside players and coaches have no reason to hang their heads down, as I believe they will be a major player in 2a again next year. It’s a tough pill to swallow as we were on the bad end of a close championship in 2017. I definitely left being a fan of the Riverside program. As for Tyner, we get to enjoy this but next year we enter Alcoa’s world which will more than likely end badly but it is what it is.

  4. It’s called tuition. Many open zoned school systems charge tuition for out of zone students. School funding is a combination of state funds and local city or county government funds. If a student is not in the zone the school does not receive the local portion of the funding for that student. The tuition is usually equal to the local portion that they do not receive. Most school systems have this in their board policies.

  5. Still trying to get over the shock of Riverside making it to Chattanooga so haven’t really gathered up my thoughts yet. But very proud of the Panthers. They got it done when they had to and more than exceeded everyone’s expectations against Tyner. You could easily say they were the better team. The Rams were good but not to the extent of their hype. But they got it done when it mattered. Riverside more than had their chances but oh well that’s football, turnovers and penalties. Congratulations to both teams on a well played game

  6. Just so everyone knows I sent in a résumé today to be the next coach at LA. BIGPURPLEMACHINE will be the next coach. That is all. Carry on…

  7. Dude if you consider Cookeville "East" Tennessee, and using that as means of justification to move the championship potentially 500+ miles away from certain parts of the state, that's pretty darn out of touch. Throwing Memphis out as an "answer" to Chattanooga is ludicrous. When they hold the Blue Cross Bowl in Bristol, get back to me with the Memphis suggestion.

  8. If you know that Richard Land was his name, that means you must have seen that team play. If you saw them live, there is no way that you really think this Lipscomb team would beat them. Also that Clarksville NE team was undefeated and 14th in the country at that time. Don't think we want to start debating weak schedules. BA only finished 3rd in the country that year, so probably not very good. I believe this Lipscomb team is the best since the MBA teams of early 2000's. Why not enjoy a really impressive season without beating your chest, and trying to bash entire decades? Loads of talent doesn't necessarily make you the best. The 2012 BA team had 5 NFL guys on the team(3 starters, including Jalen Ramsey), and still got beat.

  9. I can't agree more, West beat us (Boone) 73-0 and made it look easy. We will never know but I feel certain this West team was as good as anyone in the entire state.

  10. Congrats to the West Rebs. To one of the best coaching staffs around, and to this special group of seniors, players, band, cheer, dance, students and fans, and all involved. Job well done! Congrats!

  11. CoachT.com has been a lot of fun for me and, hopefully, will be for years to come. It has helped keep me busy during some difficult health issues. Thanks to all of you old-timers and newcomers as well. A lot of the old folks are no longer on this earth. I miss them. Try to keep things positive.

  12. Honestly thought, you can not convince me Alcoa runs a 100% clean program. Zero percent chance that a school is just lucky to have so many good players come through there year in and year out with no drop off.

  13. All of those schools are open zone.

  15. I would add that the state of Tennessee is just a different animal than it was back then, especially D2-AAA. I brought one of my old MBA teammates to the MBA-Baylor game this year. He was in from out of town and doesn't follow it very closely anymore. I pointed out all the future SEC/p5 players on the field and he was just dumbfounded. Back when we were playing, a really good program might have 1 future P5 player on the roster...more than that was just really rare. Most had none at all. Now, you will see 5-6 future P5 guys (plus a bunch more FCS/G5/D3 players) every week in D2-AAA. All these programs are pouring way more resources into football than they did back then. Plus growth in the state, high quality of life here. 20+ years of having the Titans here has contributed also. So many of those guys have remained here after their pro careers ended, and have their own kids playing, or are coaching and training kids.

  16. I've touched on it. I'll get specific: 1) They miss Clark a lot right now. Semaj was good for 15 pts/game and no one has filled that gap. 2) Not have the other Porter is hurting. Hopefully we'll see her soon and her knee will heal well. 3) This group is not good at shooting outside and teams have figured it out. We are seeing a lot of zone and have not handled it well. We could stand to be more patient in our offense and put ourselves in the position for better shots. 4) We have had a lot out sick pretty much the whole season, which has messed with the team being able to practice together. I still think we will be ok, but will take our lumps early. The schedule before and during Christmas is brutal.

  17. Some teams are really good together without all the next level talent. There are teams in the 2000s that would give this year’s LA team a good game. One of the Alcoa teams during their 8 year run of gold balls. Lausanne during their 38 game winning streak with Eric Gray. Etc. One of my favorite CPA games was against Peach Tree Ridge who had over 4K students and supposedly 18 D1 players. CPA punched them in the mouth on the first drive and never looked back. Alcoa still beat us in the championship. I think 2014 or 2018 CPA could give 2022 LA a good game. But, there is no mistaking the fact that LA compiled one of the best records / runs of all time this year. Very impressive.

  19. The team improved in a lot of areas off the field. I agree that a whole year of doing all the things that winning teams do and doing them in the right way will translate to better execution on the field in 2023. Still, need more big guys, lots more. I wouldn't be surprised to see some changes on the staff as well. ILB, I had no doubt this West team would play for a championship. I knew that Powell would be terrific in the semi, but still had faith in the physicality of West up front on both sides. I made my hotel reservations for Friday's championship game in August. lol. Glad I didn't have to cancel them.

  20. Just to follow up on this since I ran across the stat earlier and thought it was impressive.. Since Creasy took over at Oakland in 2015, his record is 110-7 with 4 state championships 79-12 in 7 seasons at Trousdale County with 3 state championships Total record 189-19 with 7 state championships

  24. OR will not be playing DB or AC next season. The problem was that TSSAA didn't make universal the weeks designated for region games across classification, In other words, a 5A team's region game weeks won't necessarily match up with a 4 or 6A's region game weeks as preset by TSSAA. OR would have had to play AC or DB in week 2 or week 9, Both DB and AC have region games in week 2 and week 9. So it cannot be done next season. OR will play Powell, Central, McMinn, Farragut and Jeff. Co. non region. Still looking for another game week 2 or 9. The ONLY school that they can find in week two that needs a game is.......... get ready.........wait for it...........Oakland! And that ish ain't gone happen! So, look for OR to have an open date week 2. Ha ha

  26. Flea your original question asked if this LA was the greatest of all time. Hard to compare teams now with teams from the past or even this year. All the what ifs and match ups etc would be hard to compare. For the argument that teams in the past were not as athletic as todays teams, I would argue that todays teams wouldn't have made it out of the first half with teams of the past. While kids today may be more athletic, kids of the past were much much more tough. Is this the greatest team ever in TN, short answer is no. I will leave it at that.

  27. The thing that people don't know about this team is that they are as good of people, students, classmates, teammates as they are football players. Truly a special group of kids.

  31. Yep then if the Nashville area schools are the only ones playing the complaints will be the same but different. Ya Just can't plan it like that. Find a place and play the game and if you have to drive a ways just be GLAD you're getting to,, instead of sitting home.

  33. careful '92, you're about to get another one of them phone calls. That would have pissed me off too after supporting that mess for over 30 yrs. They oughta give you an award, not a phone call telling you to stop hurting the coaches feelings on Coach T. Get outta here with that. lol

  34. I mean, you can say it, but no one ever stopped them from moving up. And I've always defended them for staying where they can within the rules. But that means you can't say stuff like this. I disagree. They're in 3a where they belong.

  36. I didn't want to say it myself but I agree with you Sweet. I am going to keep hope alive and still think we will be a very tough out in the Tournaments. In fact I am going to believe we can win State with a lot of hard work. WE MUST NOT FORGET THAT TENNESSEE GIRLS BASKETBALL IS SOME OF THE BEST IN THE ENTIRE USA & IT IS STILL JUST EARLY DECEMBER. NO STATE TITLES ARE WON ON DECEMBER 5. GO LADY WILDCATS!

  37. I do not see "teachers and coaches leaving in droves". I've heard that line for 20-25 years now but it's simply not true. School have become very top heavy. Small schools that never considered having a "Vice Principal" now have one even though enrollment is the same. Schools that use to have one vice principal now have 3 or 4. Small schools who use to have 1 secretary now have 3 and so on. It is even worse at the administration buildings. Those places are so over hired someone should go to prison for it. Everyone wants an assistant and then the assistant wants an assistant and it never ends until you have 50 people doing what 5 people could do if willing to put in a decent day's work 5 days a week.

  38. A higher wage will keep older officials in the game longer. Everyone I saw officiating this weekend had to be a minimum of 60. The 6A game seemed to be called the best of the ones I watched. A development/training program is desperately needed

  39. Well it was a good half of a ball game then someone opened the gate let'em out and that's all she wrote. Oakland is just in a good position where their located and a great magnet for attracting good players. Couldn't blame anyone in the area worth a hoot not to be a part of something like that. Creasy is also a good coach because the wrong man handling dynamite can set off an explosion. Their line just over towers most teams and what I dread when we (Maryville) ends up playing them. Congratulations on another championship and looks like this will be the future for a long long long time.

  45. correct, I agree. West has been dominate. I think their passing game caught Page by surprise. West D will pin their ears back now and smother Page’s QB

  46. I'll never convince you otherwise but being on the "inside" I disagree that LA sold it's soul. My son is a better young man for playing for him. He has grown so much spiritually and has dear friends that look different than he does and that will serve him well. Trent infused energy into a very lethargic campus and brought back pride and passion to not only the football program but the school as a whole. There is a waiting list for almost all grades which has not been the case in a long long time. Hopefully the next coach can achieve some measure of success but I know it will be difficult.

  47. Well… at least it was warmer than I thought it would be at the game. I’m proud of our guys getting to play again on the last day of the season.

  48. Thank you for that. I'm sure that you've had opportunities to profit from this site that would've changed the experience for the "regulars". I hope that you've figured out a means for this little creation of yours to make you financially secure, because you've provided a pastime for me that has paid many dividends. I've met some great folks in person that I might've just walked past without coachT, or never saw at all… I've also become sort of "familiar" with programs and their traditions from farther away than would have been possible, and had the avenue to follow players and their career's that would have prior just been "legends" by word of mouth. Thanks again... JC.
