  1. I agree with him. I probably should’ve replied to HTV.

  2. From you "And Powell isn't the first school to win a state championship after getting transfers in who played major roles. Perfect example, Knoxville Central won two after an eventual 2 time all state QB came over from Carter." You can't say you didn't compare Nolan and Fawver when you just compared a Transfer and the Major Roles they were and using Fawver as your example with Nolan. Now if you would have left out the Perfect Example part out then i would agree with you weren't comparing. (And no I never said you compared them by position, talent, etc. but you did compare them on being transfers that played a major role for their new team.)

  3. The answer to the overall question of the thread is No. Powell had an offense that could score on ANYONE, I won’t deny that. The talent on that side of the ball(however it all got there) was exceptional. But Nolan made the defense, he made run games 1 sided because you had to run away from him. Without him, Powell’s defense was mediocre at best and I don’t think they win State without him. But hey they did and good for them. And just a PSA for the know it all, how Dakota came to Central vs how Nolan came to Powell were very, VERY different. Anyone actually comparing the two situations is nothing more than an idiot. 4. In my humble opinion, no, and any Powell fan who is honest with themselves would probably tell you the same.

  5. Without Walter Nolan, do y’all think Powell would’ve still won the 2021 5A state championship? Even with Walter Nolan, they still almost lost a page in the state championship game, but do you think they would’ve even been there without him?

  6. He said top coach, not top recruiter.

  7. Boo Carter transferred in the winter to Brainerd and now again? His twitter is still Brainerd. But check out his twitter, 5 star, #1 Athlete in TN, ESPN Top 300. Tells me Boo Carter is out for 1 person- and that's him. Don't get me wrong, he is a player and legit with all the accolades he has, but why transfer? Not sure winning a TEAM state championship is high on his list. But if it is, then props to him. TSSAA needs to dig in their heels on this- Kid playing for 3 teams in less than 12 months, doesn't seem right. And if this happens and they do nothing, open the gates boys, transfer every year in high school. Form mega teams, just like the current NCAA FBS. Its BS, it's gonna ruin high school football for the above average high school student athlete.

  8. I don’t think the coach is worried about it. They have moved and and worried about the current students.

  9. For you to be so smart, you would think you would know that Lowe is 5A, and the topic clearly states 6A.

  10. When you use what you call a Perfect example of similar situations between two different players it’s comparing the players and their situation, you can’t be that obtuse or maybe you are. (once again I didn’t say you compared talent etc just comparing two players that made an impact for their team in transferring. Even if one moved across the state and the other moved in the same county and I don’t see that as a comparison of circumstances just FYI when Nolen could have played anywhere in the country his Senior year and he ends up at Powell) Once again if you would have left out the Perfect Example and threw out Fawvre then I would agree with you but that’s not what you did. Die on the hill of saying you didn’t compare if you must but your not fooling anyone on here.

  12. I guess the 2016 run never existed because we didn’t have a QB good enough according to what you just said . Here’s the point, Dakota and his family made the decision to come to Central, wasn’t pressured by “adults”. Nolan was recruited and that’s a hill I’ll die on. The question is and always will be, what exactly was the draw? Because I’m sorry, but a 5* top player in the nation could go ANYWHERE if they wanted to. So why Powell TN? So he met a guy in middle school while playing in an event he puts on(which I find shady), your telling me they had such a good relationship he decided to come play for him 3-4 years after the fact and that was the ONLY reason? Bullbutter I’m not buying it.

  14. So if this is not making fun of or personally attacking someone, not sure what is. Just man up Murph and admit what we all know. But wait that will never happen. Hiding behind a screen name.

  15. I guess all that really matters is how they do it in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and California.

  16. Nolen was literally the best player in the state and was considered one of, if not the highest rated player in the whole country. He alone could completely change a game, single handed. He was literally unblockable later on in that season that year. He was triple teamed at times. There’s zero comparison between him and the Central player, as far as who was the more dominant player who could single handedly change the outcome of a football game. And that’s coming from someone who never saw the Central QB, and I’m sure he was great, but Nolen was one of the most dominant talents this state has ever seen. The comparison is pretty silly, IMO.

  18. Nolen played well at times, but he was very inconsistent all year long. Never got in good football shape until well in to the season. Fortunately for Powell, he played his best football in the playoffs, which talented players normally do. The big question with him was did he have that extra gear. He didn't in the regular season, but he found it come playoff time. Powell had the talent to win a gold ball without him, but he certainly gave them that extra weapon they needed. And Powell isn't the first school to win a state championship after getting transfers in who played major roles. Perfect example, Knoxville Central won two after an eventual 2 time all state QB came over from Carter. It happens.

  19. Yes, 2009 and 2010. Also, The 2020 team once Caden Buckles took over at QB was pretty dynamic. They won the state championship that year over a very good Milan team 35-0. The teams only loss was to Maryville early, with a young soph. QB. Nothing against Zach Lunsford, as he used that game to become an outstanding QB for Alcoa. But, that Team with Buckles at QB in the playoffs was unreal. Alcoa had an Offense to match a Grey Carroll led Defense.

  21. the Springfield Yellow Jackets versus the Greenbrier Bobcats is a big game for RobCo. I dare say anyone outside our county cares about this game. The two schools play for the Pitt-Carroll trophy. It is a realty recent recognition with the awarding of the trophy starting in 2013. The trophy is named for two former Robertson County high school football players who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War. The trophy was created by the VFW in honor of Dwight Carroll and William Pitt, who were both killed in action during the summer of 1968. Carroll, a 1966 Springfield graduate, and Pitt, a 1966 Greenbrier graduate, were close friends and decided to join the Marines following their freshman year of college. They were joined by two other local friends – Jim Savley and Tom Cannady, both Greenbrier graduates. On a sidebar, The Jackets fans think of the Henry County game as a rivalry but I am not so sure that the Pats fans replicated those feelings @JacketLover @eers @LEON

  22. Just think how much faster it would grow if we separated it out to small town/medium town/big city! We could have 3 state champs in FS and Greco. Participation would skyrocket.
