I can't take credit for this but wanted to pass it along because it sums it up pretty well... Most people, even parents, don't really understand what it means when a senior football player's season ends. They don't understand the true finality of it for 95% of these kids. You can play baseball/softball in rec leagues forever. You can always play a game of pick-up basketball. You can play golf and tennis as much as you want when you get older. You can run track and enter 5k or marathons till you die. But most high school football players will never ever put on a helmet and play the same game again. You go from being totally and completely immersed in a game you love to being totally and completely shut out from it. That is incredibly difficult. Football is not a lifetime sport....but high school football IS a once in a lifetime experience. Hope all the seniors take a moment tonight to look around and take it all in!

QB trusts his receivers and will throw into coverage...receivers never take a snap off because they know the ball is coming. This is what a passing offense ought to look like.

3A.....Make that 43 TDs and 0 interceptions for Simpson for the season....and just threw for over 620 yards tonight against the #2 team in the State......as a Freshman. More TDs than incompletions this regular season. No one knows where he's leaning for college, but I hope Tennessee doesn't let him get out of this State.

The serpent/old dragon has and is still influencing, controlling most governments and most religious denominations. They’re at least a hand full of popular doctrines in today’s mainstream religious denominations that can be traced back to the days of Nimrod, paganism, and the old dragon. The truth is not a religious denomination. The truth is a person. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Jesus showed us the truth about his Father; the character and the selfless love of the Father. 1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life… Jesus is our vine and connection to the Father. John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. What does it mean to know? The Father wants us to know his true character, nature, his selfless love for us and wants to have genuine relationship with us. I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. The word begotten does NOT mean created either. I would suggest doing a word study on these words: begotten, brought forth, proceeded forth and came out from, came forth from, firstborn. To try and sum this up in the simplest way. The enemy is subtle! He told a lie in Genesis 3:4 and that same lie is still being told today. He’s trying to destroy the character of GOD. He’s trying to destroy the true sonship of Jesus and deny his death through using a famous doctrine defined as a mystery which has caused confusion. GOD is the not the author of confusion-see 1st Corin 14:33. Meigs looked as undisciplined last night as they ever have. Looked like the Bunch-coached Meigs team from last year where nearly every game they wanted to fight each other. Ugly

Watch the reaction of Coach Jacobs also. I believe he met the player on the field. That is not Peabody football, but a lone wolf that realized that his playing days were coming to an end. By no means am I making excuses as a Peabody fan, but I have seen a few of the small things that this team has done this year that teams in the past (the championship teams) would never do. It is obvious the leadership in the locker room is lacking. There is a reason why some of those former leaders are still playing football at the next level at places like West Point. If something like that happened during those years (which it would not have), it would have been handled by the players as it does with championship caliber teams.

Honestly, it needs to be both of them splitting the award. Two great football players. They are the gas that makes Huntingdon go.

The season is upon us. Cloudland and Unaka go to heritage on November 9th. Cloudland will play Anderson County and Sequoyah. Unaka plays northview and Halls. Should be an exciting preseason play date. Pickett will play coalfield and Lakeway. A great opportunity to see a lot of teams and the work they've done. Not sure of the date yet, but we'll go to Cosby. A good opportunity to see how district 1 and 2 match up this year. I personally think NG and Unaka are the frontrunner. It's going to be a long season and a lot can change by tournament time.

Don't really disagree with much you are saying. But most regions are top heavy, with one or two schools that dominate. The numbers you cite aren't just numbers that you would see with Gibbs. There are too many classifications and too few schools in regions. We are going to have haves and have nots. Just not a lot of top to bottom competition in any region. And I did omit E-Ton, not on purpose. I sit corrected.

The back shoulder throw for a TD by Jones in the second half was one of the more impressive throws I’ve seen from a Maryville QB in a few years at least. Third and long, under pressure. Talk about delivering when your team needs it. He’s already really good, but man his potential is tremendous.

willoughby ran for maybe 25-30 yards and got up yelling then they called taunting. i completely understand if he got in someone’s face and they got him for that but they got him for showing emotion after winning the most important game of the year. the 2nd one they called on our coach but i’m not sure what was said. willoughby gets up yelling EVERY time he gets a long run and this is the first unsportsmanlike he’s got since he came to high school.

Kirk was here a long time and did a great job. Many schools don’t have State championships in FB although they did have a runner up in ‘04. I stated originally they were never a powerhouse but doesn’t mean GB doesn’t have tradition, they were a tough and formidable opponent for many years. Up until recent as stated. Made the playoffs every year but once from 1994 to 2010…with 2 Mr Football’s while there were still privates in 3A and at a time when this area was good as any area in the state with Spfld, WH, East Robertson, Portland etc. As for 100+ years go check how good GB was in the 50’s and 60’s before TSSAA playoff existed specifically early 60’s… outscored opponents like 651-47 in a two year stretch and won 24 straight games. And were something like 90-23 in that 12 year stretch.

You’re as classless as they get BC , I can say my team didn’t play well nor were they coached very well and that they deserved to lose … unlike you I don’t have to cry about the refs every time my team loses . It’s amazing to me that you’re actually an elderly man on here still thinking you’re cute and funny when you’re on a ball board about high school kids constantly putting other teams down as though you’re 12 years old . I take that back my 12 year old Grandson is classier than you’ll ever be . I get it that beating Maryville is a big deal for you because of the history of the game , Maryville has totally dominated this series so I understand you getting excited, but you always have to lower this rivalry to the gutter . Time to grow up little man . Maryville and Alcoa are the 2 most successful high school football programs in this State and it’s a shame that an old man who does the most posting for Alcoa on here still acts like he’s never been there . It’s not about you and your insecurities, it’s about celebrating the young men in our community that are giving their all to keep the level of football at the highest level possible… and acting like we’ve actually been there before
