  1. I just found out that Dr. Joseph "Pete" Kelley aka Mountain Troll went home to meet Jesus yesterday. Please take a minute to remember Pete's wife and three daughters and their families in your prayers today. I conversed with Pete several times in the last few weeks about The Lord and he was at total peace and had a blessed assurance about heaven and personal relationship with God through Christ. Go and rest high on that mountain my friend......I will see you later.....

  2. Your exactly right ,the coach is not the problem, it's an administration problem. I don't live in Warren County, but I have listened to several podcasts from Warren County sports reporters, trying to understand what the problem is . Having listened to those podcasts. What I have understood, you have a county that is behind the times. 1. Just in the last few years they have started a youth program in Warren County. 2. They have just started dedicated weight program, other schools have solid strength and conditioning programs for over a decade 3. Lack of commitment from the county to build a new football stadium on campus. They built a new high school in the 1990s. The football team is still playing at the middle school in a stadium that is 60 years old. Success in Warren County will not come over night, when you have not progressed with the times. Coach Matt Turner, is a Warren County alum, and he knows what the problems are. Until the county, and the community makes a commitment to the football program , they will continue to be stuck in mediocrity.

  3. The CoachT community did indeed lose one of God's good ones last evening. @MoutainTroll was one of the wittiest personalities, if not the wittiest, to ever grace the threads of these forums. A One-Off and A Coacht Hall of Famer no doubt. What most did not know, was that Dr. Pete Kelley was one of this worlds best pediatric surgeons, whos gift and dedication saved and changed many a child and family's life. My wife worked along side him for many many years and she always said he was the one she would want to take care of her child in any medical situation. May we all keep Pete's wife and 3 daughters in our thoughts and prayers. R.I.P. 🙏

  8. How about locking Peabody out of the field house at halftime while they stand outside for like half of halftime and soaking the field on purpose in the playoffs that same game a few years back. Riverside is dirty I believe every bit of them using in helmet communication. Are in helmet comms worth 4 points ? Riverside should be sitting at home and not in the playoffs

  13. 2 winning seasons in the last 40 years. That's not a coaching problem. I know the TSSAA has already started using a success factor for D-II , but I think the more pressing issue should be coming up with something that allows schools like Howard and Warren Co. to drop down instead of just getting pounded year after year

  23. Haha - JV offense is about right. Hate that either team had to lose, because both teams fought their butts off, with not a lot to work with on the offensive side of the ball, but glad we pulled it out. Save travels to the RC fans, who are always classy.

  24. And neither was a shocker, I actually think the 5th place team in 1a or 2a could have beat our one. Our regions were really down this year.

  25. Soddy had nothing for the Tigers. The Trojans played a little dirty on the 2nd half but the Tigers held their composure. Tigers did their part to set up the rematch with the Putnam Wasp!🐝

  26. To be quite honest, when Gville has been in the smokestack OR power formations and ran straight at them, they have been really getting 6-9yds a play. When Gville tries to run a sweep against a much faster team, they get nothing. Why you pound it down the field, easily and then just stop and try a few sweeps is beyond me… Speed can be mitigated by direct attack. Prep had one offside penalty all half.

Crockett won't travel (can't blame them), Crowd will be fair to midland. I have the Rebs by multiple trickles, and Rave in the Cave starts on time. Go Rebs!

  36. Film? I'd be surprised if 90% of the voters have even seen one highlight from any of these kids to be honest. As for stats, for some reason South Pittsburg has never posted then anywhere, no matter who the coach was. But yes, even though stats do not always tell you the story, they do help voters who have never seen them play. I think the biggest reason that you see players from certain teams always on the ballot is due to tradition and history. When SP is doing well, they will almost always have someone on the list. If Greenback or Lake County are doing well, you will see them with players on the list as well due to their history in A/1A. Just a little rambling on my part here that has nothing to do with the quoted post, but is just in reference to people who think South Pittsburg has been overrepresented in Mr. Football. This will be the 40th year that they are giving away this trophy. 23 of those years they gave away two, one for a lineman and one for a back. So, for each classification, there have been 63 trophies awarded in 40 years. For a breakdown, during this same period of time, South Pittsburg has been to the state championship 12 times, winning 6 of them. 6 is also the number of Mr. Football winners they have had out of the 63 trophies given out. So, they have been to 30% of the championship games, won 15% and had UNDER 10% of the Mr. Football winners. Looking at that, it doesn't appear to me that South Pittsburg is overrepresented in the Mr football awards.

  39. You're more than likely correct about this. Just seems like the logical and appropriate thing to do is to be transparent and tell everyone we will push back setting the regions so we can appropriately investigate the current issue. 1. This helps TSSAA build some trust with schools because they are actually doing something about the issue and not continuing to ignore/sweep it under the rug. 2. Definitely promotes player safety. 3A/4A school playing down in 2A can create a safety issue especially if those 3A/4A teams are playing one of the smaller 2A schools while having a definite numbers advantage. 3. Pushing regions back to January does not hurt or effect scheduling for teams at all. Most teams will complete their non-region schedule within 24-72 hours of the region schedules being posted anyway. If I am incorrect here or not considering something, someone please let me know.
