  1. Personally I don’t think Starkey is that good of a coach. Last year Marion i thought should have beat us but play calling was terrible for them

  3. If 2 teams from the same region meet in the qtrs the higher seed would host. So if Marshall wins and PC wins the 3rd round game would be at Marshall. And if you get to Henderson early and are looking for a bite before the game, hit up Bells Drive In. You will see why it says “Best cheeseburgers this side of heaven” on the door.

  4. Was proud of how Govs didn't quit last night. Did well against some talented young Rebels. WB returns a lot of kids next year and will be in the playoffs in 2025.

  6. The fan in the stand must of : (1) had a kid that wasn't getting to play (2) caught one of those shirts that was 2 sizes to small. (3) ate one of those hot dogs anyways after being warned. (4) First Amendment Rights was abused by MHS Gastapo.

  11. I've seen a lot of games that were lopsided in calls because one team either lost their poise or there were mismatches that resulted in holds, but this wasn't that. Both were physical, run heavy offenses that know how to block (not many holds anyway), but when it was close to getting away from EH toward the end of the first half, they got chippy. Not jawing and pushing chippy, but piling on, grinding heads into the turf after the play, and marginal late/unnecessary hitting. Add a few head scratchers that made no sense and you get close to twenty. Game is probably available to watch still...if you've got a couple of hours free watch it for yourself and reading others' opinions on here won't be necessary. While you're watching Riverside's 18 or so, see if the blatant personal foul with about a minute and change left is the only flag you'd throw on EH.

  12. Should be a great game. Both teams are very good and would undoubtedly beat most other teams in 4A. I’ll say UHS by 11 at home.

  13. No offense to Sevier Co but I would be surprised if 5A champ doesn’t come from Powell, West or Page. Should be a good game tho

  14. I hope it’s a good game. What has Tellico done to improve to make this closer? First game was 34-0.

  20. I tried to get one of those glow in the dark shirts, but I was told they didn’t come in 3X. Lol No doubt that intimidation of teenagers doesn’t apply very well to adults. You and I both have had three boys go through, so we have seen it. Evidently it still works on some though. IMO the thin skin is just a sign of insecurity. Respecting and listening to your supporters might be more productive. Teachers shouldn't ignore parents, why should coaches or administrators think it is ok?

  21. Brother, the post I sent was not to attack, but it sure got some response...simply saying there is no team that is completely unbeatable...and all it said is if that is the case then why play the games...but I love how people immediately start saying "Karen" Purple Hair activist etc...hahahah, but I can give a crap less...eveyone knows McKenzie is a good team and they have really good players especially their QB who I think will win Mr. Football...but to each their own, maybe my post did sound a little off the wall, lol...but anyway, I know they do not look past teams because a good coach will not let them!! that is why they have had the success they have now...anyway, thanks for being level headed about stuff...it was not meant to be an attack on the McKenzie kids at all...not that kind of person my friend.

  22. Last seasons vs east the play calling was atrocious. I was expecting Groves and Pickett to go punch for punch and MC tried using Pickett as a decoy vs a state championship caliber team… 8 carries for 10 yards… Groves ended the night with 27 carries 283 yards and 3 touchdowns

  23. Hey it’s the guy with the basketball jokes from the WC vs McKenzie thread. By the way, I called the WC basketball coach and let him know WC would be at basketball practice Monday as you requested. He said to tell you thanks for the heads up!

  24. Good luck Gordonsville on your journey into the 2A football landscape next year. Our playoff matches are on hold for a few years but maybe both schools can play some regular season games.

  25. I guess 2A ball must be harder than 3A, didn’t know Alcoa was in 2A. I guess Jeremiah was watching Gordonsville instead of Carthage since they was getting ran out of Jasper last night.

  27. No sir… there is a post script at the bottom of the bracket that hardly anyone ever reads… NOTES: All times are local time. In the first and second rounds the higher seeded team hosts. In the third round and semifinals in even-numbered years the bottom team hosts. If two teams from the same region meet in the third round, the team seeded higher in the region standings shall host.

  30. Here we go, this is what’s wrong with things like this message board. You get keyboard warriors like yourself who won’t say it to the coach but come hide behind a name to run them down. You aren’t at practice each week, you don’t watch the film, and probably the highest you’ve ever coached is when you volunteered to coach youth football because no one would pay you to coach a sport. Name a class A school that loses their starting quarterback and down to their 3rd string running back who is a freshman and are able to be competitive. If the quarterback and both the second and third running back don’t go down against Clay they win the region. If you don’t like what’s going on at Gordonsville go support another program, I’m sure they would love to have the kind of support you give. I have no clue about what’s going on at Gordonsville but running down coaches on a message board is soft. Go speak to them directly, I’m sure your tone would change.

  34. High school sports is special. You can cheat in college and the pros but high school sports is sacred and about the only sport left with any respect to it. It hurts to see programs that just don't care or have respect for the game.

  35. Maryville fans, a few weeks ago at Science Hill a Blazer sat amongst you and watched a Rebels team sleep-walk it's way through 98% of the game..... finally came alive in the last 90 seconds of the 4th. Do that again and it will be basketball time early in Blount County. Science Hill is not a great team, they have a few athletes but cannot be taken lightly. Maryville is probably 20 points better but only if they actually show up and take this game serious. I would agree with WaCoJaCo's prediction above. Maryville seems to usually get it together in the post-season.

  36. One of the most egregious attempts by an officiating crew to affect the outcome of a game that I've ever witnessed. Someone should send video of the game to TSSAA officials and that crew should have the rest of the season off. Two tough, physical teams played tonight and one team had penalty after penalty while the other had virtually none. Riverside ran mostly straight at East, while EH ran sweeps and off tackle for most of their positive yardage...I mention that only because even most casual fans know that holding (flags) occurs more frequently on the edges while attempting to turn the corner, yet the calls were lopsided the other way. One in particular, the DE for the Panthers pushed the OL back from the line on a pass attempt, and the QB flushed away from them...the DL disengaged and chased, except the OL tackled him from behind with the white hat looking directly at them with no call. Unsportsmanlike calls went against Riverside all night with EH defenders piling on late, and shoving offensive players into the turf while unpiling. Riverside intercepted an attempt to throw the ball away, and celebrated by running over and congratulating the effort by the DB... flag for unsportsmanlike, yet East pooch punted and touched a Panther resulting in a turnover and East's entire bench ran on the field...nothing. I may be overestimating (a little bit, if any), but I'd guess that Riverside had twenty'ish calls against, while I only remember two or maybe three against EH, and one of them was a blatant personal foul with only a minute and change left. Be nice if @Bigpun54has penalty stats. Sorry for the rant, but sheesh...I'm an impartial fan who just wanted to watch a good football game and couldn't enjoy it for the way it was officiated.

  43. Personally, I do not believe it is simply an administration problem. The lack of leadership over decades has led to the losing seasons in football. Everyone associated with the football program from the top down and to hometown citizens such as myself have to take responsibility for the losing. Losing has made the public lose interest and connection to the Warren County football program. That is the major factor that has broken the foundation. I don't care how many tickets are sold or not sold to the games. Ticket sales are not key indicator of the program's health. People are so disconnected from the program that there is no public will demanding positive solutions. We presently elect school board members who hire the superintendent/director of schools -- who then technically hires everyone else...the principals, teachers, coaches, etc. For some reason, the administration has at various times during the past 56 years has accepted losing and failed to develop positive solutions. The failure of the football program is well-documented and has existed for decades. A case can be made that 80% of the football seasons at Warren County have been losing seasons. Losing 80% of the time inspires few people to invest in something. The public citizens of Warren County should have demanded positive solutions years ago. Putting pressure on Matt Turner after he had the amazing season in 2020 (8-3) with a great cast of players that included Mr. Football, C.J. Taylor, would be a miscarriage of judgement. There is plenty of foundational work to correct. The focus should be on investing in the foundational pieces that will turnaround the losing. The laissez-faire practice of allowing the football program to exist in mediocrity, or worse abject failure, has to stop. The solution starts with leadership -- leadership of the community to demand changes. Changing the coach is not where an intelligent person or group of people should start. Why did no one see this coming? Why has the program been allowed to keep going off the cliff into losing 80% of the time? Why is the public not demanding that the present school board and superintendent present a positive solution? Going to a non-region schedule is not a magic wand. What is the rest of the plan is what people should be asking and determined to know. It is a public school...the leadership should be transparent and public with the plan. Losing is a disease. There needs to be demand for a cure from the community to the administration.

  44. They beat Pearl Cohn the first time, but that only makes it harder to win the next one. If there's a second meeting, Pearl now knows exactly what to expect and from who. The old adage you learn more from a loss than a win applies here.
