  1. If you want to win championships, you play the best, public or private. Transfers are just as likely to happen from private to public now as they are public to private and if you got kids that transfer to private schools regularly that says more about your program than anything else Oakland scrimmages McCallie every year and will be playing CPA. There's no doubt that they benefit from playing these teams and to avoid them just because they "might" try to recruit a player of yours is a cowards mentality

  2. I think Greenfield will dress 25-28 players this year. We only had 2 seniors on the team this past year.

  3. I definitely agree that gleason can finish 3rd, if they can stay healthy and I'm from greenfield. Lol

  4. Y'all have a mess going on up there. Oneida should be a powerhouse in 2A and nobody could change my mind on that. The teams we played in the playoffs would be in the state championship game, or at the least, the semi's (if it weren't for the privates in public, yada yada yada). TL was good up there, but his focus and mindset was ALWAYS on a bigger pasture. He left once and you guys fired the guy who was there that wanted to be there until he retired to bring TL back. Guess what, he left again. I might get roasted for this, but I'm saying it. Oneida should've never fired John Brewster and you guys would've had incredible success and never had to put up with this May debacle the "board" has put you through. I hope you guys have great success with your new coach. I think this year will be a disaster. And, as a parent, I'd be pissed to have a lame duck coach coaching my son.

  5. I’m not saying it’s justified at all I’m just stating what happens. Sure the crick necks & backwards upside down visor people will recruit no matter what at public school, but I’d be willing to bet most HS coaches in TN want to play with there own and not have to recruit their own kids to stay as well as outsiders to bring in to replace those who left/compete with the teams they play that recruit.

  7. I do not disagree with that. With JMCSS putting a cap on JCM that will keep them in 2a JCM is set up for success. Their graduating class had been with Turner since they were freshmen as his first full class I believe and it was a lot of talent leaving this year. I could see them getting in the 4 spot this year, I just trust Huntington’s ability to reload more than JCM at this moment haha. I like Gleason a lot, and they return I am pretty sure everyone. Add in Lampkins as coach who does more with less than most other coaches in west tn and I think they could be a dangerous team. Humboldt I do like, but their OL and defense scare me. But with a second year under Williams I think they do much better. He did very well getting bolivar back to a 6 win team in a tough region a few years back. He is young and energetic, seems like a good fit for those kids and the offense was fun to watch at times when they were clicking. I was at their game against halls last year and thought they played the better game and were put in position to win, just couldn’t pull it off.

  8. Huntingdon has a strong freshman class and several key contributors are back from the upperclassman. The Mustangs will have less pressure and expectations will be lower but I still think they can finish 2nd behind Milan.

  9. So, in oder to fill spots of players who were recruited out of their programs, they are justified to recruit players out of other programs to replace them? Honestly, Sheriff. That's just delusional.

  13. I think you are right on the money with these predictions. You seem well versed in West TN high school football. I’d like to hear your predictions and thoughts for 1A region 6 if you would be willing.

  14. When the public school coaches quit playing the back channel games that get players to their schools via transfers, then i will take what you are suggesting seriously. But until then, I'm laughing at it.

  15. Shame kids won't play for the communities they grew up in anymore. Everyone wants a trophy and the better schools will benefit from this, the 5-5 teams (or worse) will get worse or like Indian said fold sports all together if participation gets bad enough. I took pride in growing up and playing football for the same school my dad and uncle played, sadly those days are soon to be gone.

  16. Just a few things: 1. There will always be an organization that oversees high school athletics in the State of Tennessee 2. The Board of Control members are nothing more than gang leaders that protect their little piece of turf. They have no intention of doing what is right for the overall high school athletic programs in Tennessee. 3. Almost all of the employees of the TSSAA are trained educators that have absolutely zero experience owning or managing a multi-million-dollar organization before being hired by the TSSAA. Why should anyone expect them to do well when they only know what the fools before them have done. 4. Fan interest has plummeted over the last 25+ years and the TSSAA has not figured out that more divisions and gold balls is not the answer. If you want to create fan interest and place butts in seats you must have good competition. By trying to legislate people being successful has virtually ruined two or three generations. At some point and time people must get tough and understand that there are no free lunches! You get what you earn, and life is not fair! 5. Do the following to create competition: A. Do away with D1 and D2 and place everyone back together B. Class A: Small rural schools. No magnet schools, charter or private schools C. Class AA: Public school, small magnet schools and small private schools that do not offer financial aid or work study D. Class AAA: Public schools, large magnet schools, charter schools and small private schools that offer financial aid and or work study E. Class AAAA: Public schools and large private schools that offer financial aid and or work study F. All individual sports (wrestling, cross country, track & field, swimming, diving, tennis, etc...) will only crown one individual state champion. Again, it's past time that everyone learns that the world is not 100% fair and that you should earn a state championship and not everyone that participates in athletics becomes a state champion.
