  1. I was asked about this untrue speculation last night at our banquet(and several times over the last few weeks) which has been circulating on this website and through word of mouth. I am not taking the Rockvale job, nor have I even interviewed for that job or ANY other job since coming to Tullahoma. I have no desire to leave Tullahoma, my family and I love it here. We are committed to building our Lady Cats basketball program. I wanted to make sure our players, parents and stakeholders didn't get mixed messages from what I have continued to communicate from day one and the untrue speculations of me leaving. Coach Hibdon As stated above and I will add for clarification. This includes Blackman, we have no desire to leave Tullahoma, go back to Rutherford Co (even Blackman) or ANYWHERE else. There has been speculation from day 1 that I may be leaving for another job particularly RuCo and I have had to address the speculations many times. So I felt it necessary to make a statement for the basketball community and mostly our Ttown community to hear my commitment again amongst these constant rumors. We love this community, love living by the lake and no desire to move our 3rd grader and 6th grader from this school system. I wanted to make these statements for all those who are invested and interested in Lady Cats Basketball that my family and I are committed to being a part of Tullahoma High and the Tullahoma community for many years.

  2. Looks like maryville will have at least 3 players on the OL with D1 offers according to what I see posted on X. With that combined with a returning RB and QB I would say that Maryville will be strong this year

  3. It’s called rebuilding. You just have to find the right guys, and you know you found the right guys when they go on to be head coaches at other programs. You can’t do anything if they leave for other jobs. That’s it, simple, and if it’s shown every day as a coach that you come in and slack and not reach your full potential, not just for the team but for the student athlete as well, then it’s the next man up, and you gotta go. Welcome to today's coaching. It's not just hiring some teacher who's only coaching experience is flag football and maybe played in high school. Schools are going out and getting coaches with experience under their belt, and those coaches are going out and getting people with actual experiences to help not just the program but the student athletes as well, whether they are teachers or not or have anything to do with the school or in a classroom, and that's what the TSAA wanted, and I would say most people.

  4. Sometimes that’s the case, but not always. If so, they could have it turned right back around on themselves. If they were also doing that, why would they wanna bring it to light? I’m sure someone at Clinton would be in the know, if so. Word gets around quickly in a small town.

  6. QUICK UPDATE - First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe. THANK YOU so much for helping this family. After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung. Sometimes this happens after long surgeries. They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track. He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing. As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own. He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement. His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days. He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days. Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can. The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells

  8. They also got to play a region that had 5A schools and 6A schools at first, then after that all 6A made the playoffs for a year or two when there was only 32 6A teams

  11. Hey, I'm graduating in a couple weeks and want to start coaching. I've already done a few interviews, and I just wanted to put my name out there a little bit more. I will graduate with a major in exercise science and a minor in nutrition. If interested, my email is: braydenlpalmer@gmail.com.

  12. I used to think like that many many moons ago. I wondered the same questions but learned that it is just not that easy. Hiring assistant coaches can be complicated at times. It takes a few years for HC’s to get who they feel is right for their system. Couple that with good assistant coaches getting better jobs at times and leaving your program. More to it than some think. I think you have a good coach up there and time will tell that story.

  13. I totally agree but just don’t want to see people jumping the gun by insinuating it was for athletic reasons. Nobody knows at the moment except for those involved in the incident itself and those investigating.

  15. Well well well, It was just a matter of time before the wheels fell plumb off the dragon wagon, and that pos is sittin' over on highway 61 #### up in the ditch. I called it 2 years ago everybody thought it was so cute with the church van and the K-town basement boys. And here we are. This is about to get fugly. It's a mess and it's about to go public. Investigators are just now scratching the surface. Stay tuned. Watch the news in the next few nights. Just when you thought you had seen it all, here we go......................

  17. Craziness. A conversation may have been had, but a conversation does equal a commitment. We can wait a few weeks and see who is coaching at Spring Practice.

  18. And what I was told that Hibdon was telling everyone at the state tournament is that he would only leave Tullahoma to go back to Blackman... If he took the Rockvale job he would be playing for 3rd for a year or 2 until he could draw some more athletes in to Rockvale...

  20. Kevin Lane took the Central head coaching job. One high school assistant and the head coach of the MAC program went with him. Reado agreed to come, then changed his mind. That's it. End of story.

  21. Where is Cooper Flynn going to go.

  22. Probably because since he’s been there at least 10 coaches have either quit, left, or were hired but never actually started. all the rumors are kids are trying to bolt left and right. Coaches are seeing how dysfunctional the program is and washing their hands before they even get started. And now their running out of money and the boosters are getting tired of constantly being hit up for more.

  23. A coach left for a head coaching position, another for a coordinator position, a guy who wasn't to on the high school team staff left for another position not on a high school staff, and a guy who was going to join the staff decided not to. And it's still the offseason. What "honor" is there to defend?

  24. Should hear the results soon of this nothingburger. This kind of stuff is the reason I quit teaching and coaching. Parents get all butthurt and when things don’t go their way they feel the need to make life miserable for others. also cobra can no longer post on here, we have a bunch of babies on here with sensitive ears.

  30. Reado and the Smiths had ties, and yes, Reado is gone. Lane only took a couple of guys with him, one of them being the coach who led the feeder program and another for a promotion to a coordinator position. No mass exodus of coaches.

  31. Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. It ain’t as easy as hey, even though you’ve been a tenured teacher for however many years, we now have a guy that coaches football, which makes him more important than you, so you have to go since he’s a football coach!! Lol Life isn’t that simple.
    1 point
  32. If you have tenured teachers, you cannot just remove them to make a spot for a coach. Most of those type moves happen in the offseason over the summer anyway. If said coach cannot teach say a math or history open teaching spot and is only good for physical education then a person in that spot has to move out or your said coach doesn’t get that spot. Usually how it works.

  37. Honestly, I'm not. Woods put his name in for alot of vacancies. Sometimes a program needs a new voice. I think it will also be a good chance for Woods to refine his approach if he has aspirations of getting a job outside of Metro

  38. Lee Smith & son leave, now their national champion OL coach??? Wonder if any other coaches left too? I know Lane was the co-DC that went to Boobcat Nation and from what I understand he took a bunch of Beerden coaches with him. Seems like the wheels are falling off for Jones, wonder how bad it is for all the coaches to be leaving? Are they realizing a middle school program cannot succeed in 6A ball? How long will the administration put up with all the headaches of a head coach that doesn't teach or contribute to the classroom? All questions should be fun to watch settle out.

  39. The “portal stuff” is only going to get wilder. The rich programs that are flush with money will buy the best athletes, pay those athletes and provide them with great workout partners from the RTC

  45. As a parent, this was always my worst nightmare. I take it for granted every time I get in the car and took it for granted most of the time when one of my sons was on the wrestling mat. Sometimes things are not "going to be fine". Jacob was wrestling in a Greco match at Iron Man when he was thrown. He landed on his head and neck and shattered his C6 and C7. His spinal cord was offset which is not good. He is currently at Vanderbilt Childrens in Nashville and has undergone a big surgery to brace his neck with pins and screws and realign his spinal cord, but damage has been done. He is currently not able to move his legs or control his fingers. I visited him yesterday and this young man has a long row to hoe. I'm asking the wrestling community here in TN to lift his family up in prayer and come together to help. He will likely have to go to Shephard Center in Atlanta which is going to require his mom and dad to take off work, travel, eat out, etc. Jacob does have some feeling in his lower extremities, so we are praying he will be able to recover. Time will tell and God is in control. If you are unable to donate $5-10, please offer up prayers for Jacob to heal completely and for patience and strength for his parents as they are no doubt dealing with a worst nightmare. GO FUND ME for JACOB gofund.me/22e00da8 Thanks, Matt Sells - Blackman Wrestling

  48. Wake up because that is HS football now. They will either ride the pine, find a new position, or transfer. Every school recruits. Some are better than others, some don't have to try as hard after awhile once they start winning more than the surrounding area schools.
