  1. Who will be the next coach at Summertown since Trotter has left to be the head coach for the boys at Waverly?
  2. I have said it before, District 12 and Region 6 was very weak this year. Since when has Perry Co. only won 3 or 4 games and Wayne Co. not rolling along with a load of talent? I said in a previous post that playing weak teams, nothing you can do about the district, other than Lawrence Co. and Moore Co. was going to hurt when they made it to the state tournament. Only a few years ago this team would have probably been a fourth place team behind Wayne Co., Collinwood, and Perry Co. Lake Co. gave them a win but they could not survive yesterday. I don't see the district or region being any stronger any time soon. Will be up for grabs with any number of teams winning it over the next few years.
  3. Franklin is the best player for Summertown right now. Without her 20 something yesterday(combined with Lake County's missed free throws), they lose by 15-20 and go home. She will need a lot of shots and huge numbers today in order for them to win. According to the paper, she is the teams leading scorer at around 12 per game, which is not a lot.
  4. Lake County gives it away at the FT line.
  5. Lake County over Summertown by 15+ Clay County over Cloudand by 5 or less. Union City over Wartburg by 20+ Jackson County over Loretto by 25+ Lake County over Clay County by 12+ Jackson County over Union City by 8 or less. Jackson County over Lake County by 6 or less.
  6. The girls all tournament team was the same way. There were girls that were selected that should not have made it. One example is Summertown. They had four. Should have had two for sure with a third questionable. If coaches are looking at box scores there is no way Grooms should have been selected. Not sure what she had in the first round game, but I believe she scored 1 point in the semefinals and 1 point in the championship game. How is this justified? It was the same way in the selection of district players for the boys and girls. No way some of those players should have made it. Summertown girls with 5? No way. Things like this happens with a system in which teams get a set number of players selected based on where the team finishes in the regular season. The top team gets 3 or 4, not sure. So how did Summertown end up with 5? To me the purpose of selecting teams of this nature should be to select your 10 or 12 best players overall, regardless of which teams they come from. If a team gets left out, tough. We live in a society where a lot of people expect things to be given to them without doing anything to earn it. Pick your best players and if you make another coach or team mad don't lose any sleep over it, but pick the kids that deserve it.
  7. I have never heard of getting suspended for a technical. Getting tossed from a game gets a two game suspension.
  8. I'm confused. Were they not champions under Coach Franks a couple of years they went to the state tournament? And did they not finish in the final four at least once if not both times? Give Franks some credit.
  9. I believe Collinwood went 7-0 vs Wayne County Andrews Jr. and Sr. years. Four wins Jr. year (state tournament year) and three Sr. year.
  10. Who is the MVP and All Season Team members? Without a doubt Kelsey Risner should be the MVP. Heads above the rest of the players in the district, but you never know what the coaches are thinking when they vote. Anyone know the results?
  11. Stop Chard and Allen and you stop Summertown. Post game isn't used at all. Can't go deep into the post season with two guys doing all of the scoring.
  12. Summertown should win the district and the region. The district and region are extremely weak, maybe the weakest ever. Has there ever been a season where Perry Co. finishes with 3 or 4 wins and Wayne County possibly ending with a losing season? Not to offend any teams on Summertown's schedule, but most teams are either young or have not had a tradition of winning. You have to play your district schedule, but playing as many tougher teams outside of the district should be a goal. Lawrence County and Moore Co. have been the only tough nondistrict games. Losing your best player in starting point guard Sommer Smith will not help once the substate and state tournament rolls around. Look for a trip to at least the substate and maybe the state tournament (where teams like Lake Co., Jackson Co., and Clarkrange will be waiting) if they can avoid a trip to Moore Co., which is playing much better now than when Summertown beat them the at the begining of the year at Summertown. The only two teams that have a chance to sneak up on them are Loretto and Wayne Co. Good luck to all teams as tournament time nears.
  13. Smith is done for the year. Having surgery soon. Don't know when Franklin will be back because of a severe concussion. She may not return at all. Heard it was something like a grade three concussion.
  14. Saw where the job was posted on the TSSAA site. Thought Coach Crews was the coach? Anyone heard of anybody being considered? Ptguard12 is correct.
  15. Thompson can score as long as there is not a big man his size guarding him. Can't get post position on someone that is strong. Needs to get stronger. Post moves are limited, even vs small defenders. Does not need to be shooting threes. Should stay around the paint. Long is a streak shooter. Has good range, but sometimes takes bad shots. For his size, should post up more on smaller defenders. Rice has no concept of team basketball. Could be a grest player if he did. Could post with his size if he would get stronger. Jogs back on defense 95% of the time and is constantly looking at the refs. It's not about who is the best player, it's about the best team at this time of the year. In three weeks we will find out the answer to that, and face it, the West TN area is far and above 12A. Good luck to all TEAMS in the up coming weeks.
