    Why No Band?

    1. Most band members (at least where i went to school) had good understanding of how the game works and they did care about the game. I (a band member) actually played football. There is no reason to judge others unfairly and be insulting. 2. Yes the band is part of a football game, the band did everything that they could to get an ensemble together to perform at the game and were unable to get a useable instrumentation. The band cannot be expected to reserve every saturday after a football game on the very rare occasion that a game is postponed, this would be unreasonable. 3. I don't believe that Lincoln County's band was at the rematch game either, should they have messed up all their members schedules too?

    Why No Band?

I'll just let you know, the Tullahoma Band program isconsidered one of the finest programs in the state by university directors and professional musicians. They have always done everything possible to be at every football game and if they were unable to be present at a rematch game there was good reason.

  6. at Tullahoma We usually have around 4 part time instructors who we see about two to three times a week. During Concert Season we have had Julie Davila teach lessons one day per week for Marching Season: Don Radford throughout the season about two days a week, write our book. Phillip Gregory: Instructor during band camp, writes book Dr. Sean McBride: Helps instruct, tune drums, small changes and improvements to our book Overall I think we have one of the best percussion instructor staffs one can find. Not there everyday, but that puts more responsibility to improve on the students then if they were at every rehersal, and it has proved to be very successful in the past few years. 7. I like drum and bugle corps because you get to see extremely talented musicians/marchers from all over the nation. The performance level is so much higher than what you can see in a high school or college marching band. They also tend to play much more musically interesting pieces. Marching band is also great because you can have so many more sound colors by adding woodwinds, especially if they are used the right way. Rock and Jazz are good for marching band, but when a band does a classical piece and makes it awesome its the best feeling i've ever experienced. I definately love marching band. Concert and Jazz band are also great give the musicians a chance to think more about the music and what the composer is trying to "say" in his piece. So i'm basically saying every type of ensemble has its advantages and i like all of them, but i stil voted for drum corps. GO PHANTOM Patrick Sewell Tullahoma High School Percussion
