  1. I don't get into the whos the best because its all hypothetical and everyone has their biased opinions. You are correct in the above statements but .. when they wrestled at the Cleveland duals it was Sutherlands first week back on the mat from the football playoffs and a concusion. He had not even practiced live 1 time while Bullard had been wrestling non stop. The year prior at the Cleveland duals Sutherland got in on a deep double but Bullard did a funk roll and they ended up in a funky scramble with which Bullard caught him in some weird reverse Peterson with the head. If you want to go back even more, Bullard beat him at McCallie the year before 7-4 with Sutherland basically wrestling with one arm the entire match due to a shoulder injury. . Sutherland physically dominated him and had him on his back the entire first period but Bullard scrambled out of multiple takedowns as they are so good at doing. If you want to go back even further they wrestled multiple times growing up and Sutherland won everyone in youth and middle school. This years match at the sportswear takedown Sutherland was winning most of the match , they ended up tied on their feet and the ref stopped a takedown on a stalemate call that was the quickest stalemate call in the history of the world. Then Bullard shot a low single which resulted in another scramble but this time the ref let it go for about 25 seconds and Bullard got the takedown and win at the end. All that's part of wrestling, if you walk out there you have to be able to lay it on the line and take the losses with the wins.
  2. Both the 138 and 182 wrestlers have been injured and the coaches more than likely thought the risks weren't worth taking.
  3. Salter is correct. Track can be an incredibly useful tool but it has to be set up correctly to begin with. Its only as good as the date entered into it. I was looking at our recent match, Baylor Vs Father Ryan and about a third of the matches didn't even have the right kids listed. This same information was taken and put in the newspaper and school website. The table workers should check the names when the wrestlers check into the head table. Data entry is the key.
  4. We actually wrestled 8 times Garrett. It was a 2 day dual tournament . His very first match since his sophomore year was against the #1 guy in Alabama and it came down to the wire. He wasn't in wrestling shape yet so that was a tough one to start with.
  5. This match would be a good one to come out of retirement for Tommy. You've been away long enough. There are still a couple of olphers wrestling! Another year and you will be too old to see any of them.
  6. Yep, I don't see many upsets. I think the 170 and 182 are the key match ups
  7. I've figured it up three different times and came up three different scores. It's going to be within 5 Pts either way I think.
  8. Baylor placed 3rd at the Takedown Sportswear tournament at Archer. Archer won it of course and Thompson Alabama was second by less than a point. Baylor was without a 152 or 182 and also without starters Jack Reynolds, Caleb Canada and Mason Reniche. Michael Murphy pinned Alabama 6a state champ Pyke from Thompson the finals and Ryan Parker won in dominating fashion in the finals as well. I can't remember if Parker pinned or not. Sutherland and Seagraves lost to the Bullard brothers Nhsca 2x national champs and super 32 champ and placer 4-2 and 4-0 respectively. Schmissrateur placed 4th in a very tough 220 lb weight class.
  9. No offense to my purple clad friends but I can assure you that wouldn't happen. Back on topic.... Congrats to Bradley and coach Smith on the big win. February will be interesting.
  10. It's been a brutal 2nd day. We are all banged up or sick it seems. We've squeaked out a few and lost a few we shouldn't have. Some of the weight classes are brutal. Parker just won in overtime to advance to the finals. The tournament was a complete fiasco the first day but has ran much better today.
  11. I'm going to go through the rankings and see how 'many ranked kids are in each weight at this tourney
  12. Thx, Garrett and Rob. I was excited to see how our team stacked up but I just found out we will be without Murphy and Reynolds this tournament. Without those two and no 182 lber it will be difficult from a team perspective. What was the highest you guys placed Garrett?
  13. Powell beat Ezra at Sonoraville. Yes, Blake is healthy , he just has to get into wrestling shape and knock some rust off. We are going to the Kansas City Stampede this weekend so he better get ready quickly, lol.
  14. Tough question to answer as Powell wrestled for me for many years as a kid and Ezra is a friend of ours. Powell can wrestle and has the potential to beat anybody he faces at any given time. That being said he is kind of funky, limber and sometimes gets into awkward positions. Sometimes this enables him to score some points where others might not but it also leaves him open to get caught at times. The match with Ezra earlier in the year was tied 4-4 in the third, Powell chose bottom, Ezra locked up a cradle, Powell slipped an arm out and reversed him and got the pin. Both wrestlers looked very solid against Father Ryan and wrestled error free. In the rematch with Powell and Taylor , Ezra wrestled a very physical ,solid match and avoided any crazy positions. If I remember correctly I think he started off with a big throw and got 5 right off the bat but my may matches could be running together. Even though there have been some lop-sided scores between the three of them I think they are all good enough to beat the other, just depends on who wrestles better that match.
  15. I made an error there. Powell did Pin Ezra in the first tournament of the year in Georgia but Ezra avenged the loss this weekend at the Cleveland duals with a major.
  16. Not a bad start. I will add a few results I know for sure. o 113- Trevor Milling ( Baylor) has defeated Cody Mathews ( Cleveland) multiple times this year rather comfortably. . 120- Trey Chalifoux ( Father Ryan) wrestled 120 at the Cleveland duals.he wrestled 126 the night before vs Cleveland. Jack Reynolds (Baylor) Defeated Mcelhaney (bradley) in their dual last week by 7pts . 145- Caleb Powell ( Baylor) has defeated Ezra Taylor (cleveland) and Wesnofske ( Father Ryan ) this year. By pin and major if I remember correctly. 152- Caleb Canada ( Baylor) defeated Nich Naughton ( Father Ryan) 160- Sutherland is at 160 not 170. He wrestled up at 170 in his first match of the season vs Bradley County last week and against Martin from Cleveland this weekend. He defeated Maurice ( Father Ryan ) at 160 this weekend. Russo ( Soddy) wrestled 152 at the Cleveland duals. 170- Seagraves (Baylor) is at 170 not 182. He wrestled up at 182 in a couple of matches to help fill a void.
  17. I'm sorry Stacey beat Gaither at 220. Cleveland pins at hwt now up 32-26. 106 is the last match. Christian Simpson vs Bryce Pond. Simpson Pins in the second period. Match tied 32-32. Father Ryan wins on criteria.
  18. Stacey beats Gaither 4-2 at 195. Team score 26-26 going into last match
  19. Aaron Oliver major over Hagey, another huge upset by Cleveland at 170 with Martin over Maurice. Maurice appeared to giving up a lot of weight. Cleveland pins at 182. Score now 23-20 Father Ryan at 195 lbs
  20. Another huge win for Cleveland 14-3 Ezra Taylor 14-3 over Wesnoske. It's 19-7 Father Ryan going into 152
  21. It's playing now garret. Huge upset by one of my old wrestlers Colton Landers over Chalifoux 1-0
