  1. Hey Tadvols. Long time. IMO, there are a number of kids in the Mechanicsville area that have gone to Bearden Middle, and that were zoned West, that wound up at Fulton. Fulton seems to have lost a little ground in the feeder programs to the Bearden, AE, and more recently (3-5 yrs.) West. Just my perception, but going back kids like Antonio Hamilton (Bearden Middle) played Baby Falcons, and went on up. The same just does not seem to be true today. Wagner was a bad example, and he certainly did wear out his welcome. Can't believe Coatney let back after he pulled that stunt right before the Alcoa game when they had Warren, Sykes, Sommer, Lanxter, White, Fiegler...and I don't think Cobb could get on the field. Had to toss Jock Stinson out there as a Frosh. Be good. Tell Road2Three, 4MySister, etc., hello. ruse?
  2. Rebelfan06. Not so sure about all of them. Kolinsky has a good motor, and a lot of experience, but he is not a D1 prospect. His cousin, Keenan was at CAK, but signed with Vandy for baseball. Tanner Thompson could be a prospect, @ kicker, but not LB. Reid would need to grow quite a bit to be considered for a D1 spot on the OL/DL, and or get lot faster in order to be looked at as a DE/LB. Sowell is a nice player. D1, probably at a non BCS school. SoCon, MAC, OVC, etc. As a team, West will have plenty of talent, probably get more on down the road too. Kids opting away from Fulton to West will help. Still, the vast majority of it will not be D1 talent. Also, West has had good talen in previous years. Both Childs, Jake Ryan, Kenny Esterly, Jack Wagner, Alan Whaley, Klotzbach, Saderfer, Cortez Drew, etc., and they still had trouble getting in the playoffs. Their district is loaded with good teams. I do think that West gets better as th year goes on, and they could upset some folks later in the year. They play both Bearden & Catholic in weeks 9, 10. ruse?
  3. I'll take the Top 22 from either Mitchell & Catholic & do well vs. most. Not enough depth with their enrollments. In Mitchell's case, they will need to come out of the gate faster than they did last year. They should with what they have back. Malone, Scruggs, Jenkins, Cole (who might be the best player in 2012). Catholic is basically playing in the equivilent of a 6A region with Farragut, Bearden, Maryville, Willam Blount. They also play Austin East, Webb, & Rhea Co. in non-district games. That said, while they both may be good 5A teams, they could both miss the playoffs. ruse?
  4. More teams in the playoffs = more $.
  5. Great news. One venue for fans to see them all on the same night. No offense to Central & Farragut, and I understand the construction issue, but the Jamboree @ UT is tradition, returned. ruse?
  6. rebel4life94. Why not? Its' May, new classifications, districts, and my opinion generally speaking, is not worth much. Dude, its' a message board in which a poster was looking for a "Early 5A Top 10." Hit us up with your thoughts, "Franklin, #1, Franklin #1, Franklin #1." ruse?
  7. Rumbling. IMO, The OL & skill guys will be good. New coach will create some excitement/passion, which has been missing. DL will be strong, & keep the LBs free. Really think they could be tough. Very sorry to hear about Coach Monroe's loss. ruse? Alcoa would be Top 5. Loaded.
  8. 1. Hillsboro. 2. Henry County. 3. Mitchell. 4. Knoxville Catholic. 5. Melrose. 6. Sullivan South. 7. Beech. 8. Centennial. 9. Knoxville Clinton. 10. Cleveland. ruse?
  9. WBIR in Knoxville. "A car crash in Kingston has claimed the life of 18 year old James Sams." I'd link it, but can't. Great kid. Best athlete is 2-3A last year. Carried the team.
  10. Heard he did well this past season @ West GA. The Wolves had a tough year, but will get back on track. I would venture a guess that Lindsey would have liked West GA over Coffeeville. I had also heard Hicks started down the West GA. path but that it did'nt work out. Heard from an old coach last night, asked him about Brian. Said he heard that he was only there a couple of weeks, and he thought that he was out of football. Shame, if true. ruse?
  11. BC. Sommers. AE, then to UT Martin, then ? Whuhappen? Thanks. ruse?
  12. Lambert is an outstanding coach. Did a great job at Onieda. Coached the East All Stars in The Toyota East-West Game this past year. Good man, X' and Os, and a gamer. Tough, and not afarid to change on the fly.
  13. Oh Catholic recruits. No financial aid, but they recruit relative to the term "recruit." Recruit = Marketing. Same thing Fulton, Ausitn East, Alcoa, Maryville do. Fulton, and more recently, AE have done a good job. Anderson Co. has also done well in this area over the last few years. See the downturn at Central, Powell, Halls? Alcoa/Mville, and the Open Zone have helped for a long time. Catholic like Maryville has built a very, very strong feeder program, and have some good talent. Being partial to Fulton, I have no love for them, but do respect them. They are as physical as anyone Fulton has played over the last four years. MoWest got drilled by them the last few if I recall. They will struggle this year because they have no coach/staff, play a 6A schedule, have no depth compared to the teams they play, and, well just because I don't like them. Knox West is pretty tough. They usually don't play well until later in the year. Early game should give the edge. ruse?
  14. Yup, little screen pass right before the end of the 1st 1/2 to Rogan set the tone for the rest of it. Have to say that Dennis Freeny was the difference that night though. Laid a couple of NASTY hits on Lanxter, and a good punt return. Really thought Alcoa was going to roll early when Sykes got off fast with a couple of sacks. Cleveland? ruse?
  15. BC. Thanks. I'm sure they will. Probably won't be like either of the last two. Somewhere in between with Alcoa on top, but then again Falcons at home, and the whole Thursday Night Game could help the Birds. Nevermind, I think the last televised night game at Bob Black between these two was the 06 thumping.Sykes, Martin, Hicks, Lanxter, Lindsey, etc. Cleveland? ruse?
  16. This one gaining any traction yet ? ruse?
  17. STARSNBARS. Ma upulergees tu RebelRon. Ul ma bes ta mommaStars en tha growcer. Caint see bout thu cesshunstan. ruse?
  18. KCHSCoach. I'm sure Pepvols, FootballEmeritus, Rebelsman, Starsnbars, and the rest of the gang will all appreciate that. The amazing thing about Mville is that they all travel. I mean all, as in the city turns out the lights. A suggestion for you. Set up a reserved seating section, or the home team fans might be standing. How goes the HC search? Heard Ty Willingham is available. No? Bob Davie? No? Lou? No? Was Ty Catholic? Just joking, coach, just joking. It is a Good Friday:) ruse?
  19. Oppressed238: What about Wilson, the WR? 2010 kid. No? 6-4, 205, give or take. Good hopps, fast right? 4.5. Thanks. ruse?
  20. Ronnie is done. Retiring. TSSAA meets again in April. Get on the agenda, motion, etc. The Page rule will be interesting. This is really the "Hi, I'm Ronnie Carter, and I'm still mad at Brentwood Acad." rule. Due to the economic conditions, kids will be able to transfer to the school for which they are zoned without penalty. Again it has been tabled. Meeting in April...... The multiplier like many things had merit at inception, and still does. The formula is off, but the spirit, and intent is correct. It is not just so that publics can win, as there are some publics with open zone that play the game, and some of Knoxville's finest publics as well....mascots=birds:) All of this of course, is just my opinion.
  21. Hi guys. Miss me? I'll try again. This was not about the multiplier. I understand how the formula works. My understanding is that during the November, 2008 TSSAA Borad of Control meeting the AD & Principal motioned for Catholic to be placed in District 3AAA, and not 4AAA. 3AAA is currently comprised of Anderson Co (1150 excluding alt. school), Campbell Co (1437)., Clinton (1365), Hardin Valley (1246), Karns (1511), Central (1230), Halls (1323), Powell (1403), and Oak Ridge (1506). 4AAA is currently comprised of Bearden (1931), Farragut (1893), West (1392), Lenoir City (1268), Maryville (1555), William Blount (1876), Heritage (1688), and Catholic (624x1.8=1123). IMO, this motion made perfect sense for the following reasons: No significant revenue impact via gate receipts, particularly with the offset placement of OR in 4AAA vs. 3AAA. Also, no significant travel impact. Further, the enrollment figures support Catholic in 3AAA, and OR in 4AAA. Third, in 4AAA there are 5, 6A Playoff eligible teams, while in 3AAA, there are 3 (OR, Karns, Campbell Co.), none of which has made much playoff noise. On the other hand, Bearden, Farragut, Maryville, and William Blount have. Lastly, the argument that you guys are playing a 6A schedule as a 5A team is valid. Still with me? Good. Back to the meeting. It is customary practice that if you are going to make a motion that you have the "2nd" to that motion in your pocket before making the motion. This assures you that your motion will be voted upon. Prior to the vote, you can lobby, call, influence, debate, etc. It is important. The "2nd" was offered by Pemberton to the AD & Principal. This "2nd" was rejected as the AD and Principal assured Pemberton that they would take care of the "2nd." What I am aware of is that Pemberton's "2nd" is a member of the board, which would have certainly helped. As it turns out, the Principal and AD go before the board/membership, motion, and......no "2nd." No "2nd" equates to no lobby, call, influence, debate, etc. The motion does not carry in spite of the validity. In my opinion, as well as the opinion of others, that is what went down. Wait, it gets better. For playoff purposes, only the 1st and 2nd place teams from each District are in. Overall record then determines qualification for playoffs, and seeding. So, if Catholic does not finish 1st or 2nd, their overall record will be compared with the overall records of other 5A teams. This magnifies the importance of winning non-region games. In looking at your schedule, Rhea Co. is no layup, and based on what AE has coming back, they can certainly beat you. Webb. Sure, you have won 5 or 6 in a row, but they are always close. Could easily go either way. Farragut, Bearden, Maryville, and William Blount are all going to push you, if not beat you. Traditionally, West has improved as much as anyone as the season has gone on. They were young last year. 4-3A is going to be tough. This senior class at Maryville is probably the most down class they have had in a while, but I think they will still be good. Let's just say Catholic finishes in 3rd. Over in 3-3A, let's say OR is 1st, with AC or Clinton (who will be very good next year) coming in 2nd. Catholic better hope that they have a better overall record than West, AC or Clinton, Central, Halls, Powell to lock up a spot. We'll see. If you guys install the I formation, spread, really anything significantly different than the Wing T, you struggle early, hopefully get in, stay injury free, and make a run. On the injury thing. Don't dismiss the importance of depth, and the fact that you will not have what the others do. Just having a bunch of kids going both ways against that schedule will get to you. Now if the new guys come in, and run something close, you will have less of a learning curve. All the same is true for defense. That is just what I understand concerning the AD/Principals involvement in the reclassification issue. There is all this defensiveness (some folks can be overly defensive for a reason) around Pemberton and the DC getting fired, resigning, and that has all been spoken to further back in the thread, so I won't repeat it. Now guys, I don't hate Catholic. IrishBBall will tell you I'm a little partial to Fulton; but don't hate. There were some folks just flat out attacking the professional charachter of these men. I have a different opinion. Thats all. Good luck guys. ruse?
  22. KCHSCoach. "Obviously ruse? has no idea what he is talking about." "One should not believe everything they hear, and half of what they see." "miracle motion" "We are adults here." Easy there inuendo boy. If I shared it with you, it would not be believed, right? Thus, I have commanded thee to thine Boss. For thine Boss, and Serviant AD are the most divine and Standuppish of all. Typical holier than though opining. Go blow a bagpipe. Was that direct enough for you? ruse?
  23. Only believe 1/2 right? For you KCHSCoach, it's miracle lotion. Check with your Boss.
  24. Try this ScottA11. You will be playing a 6A schedule, but in the 5A playoffs. I know you guys have all these D1 kids..whatever, you don't have the depth to compete week in and out. Won't happen. Your playoff opportunities will be dimminished by playing the 6A schedule. IMO, Farragut, West, Maryville, Bearden, Webb, AE, and William Blount will all be very difficult "W"s. That's just one reason for a motion.....there were more. ruse?
  25. ScottA11. Right, and if the AD & Principal had managed the TSSAA Board of Control meeting process appropriately, identified, and secured a "2nd" to the motion, that would not be the issue that it has become. The AD & Principal failed, and rather than recognize it for what it is, a distraction was created. Force changes where none are needed by fabricating the need. Now we have Posters like IrishBBall posting defamatory comments about the former HC & DC. Yet even IrishBBall is conflicted. We see this in posts where "only his momma could say something nice about the coach", yet in the same post, there is praise by IrishBball for the staff becasue of his/her son being named all state. KCHSCoach then posts generalized comments "T$$AA, other privates being forced to play up, etc", in attempt to cloud the reality. As stated previously, I am not nearly as close to the program as some of these guys, but after listening to, and asking questions of a bunch of coaches over the last week at clinics, it just does not add up..at all. That ScottA11 is the reality. ruse?
