I agree with you about Midway not closing, but there will be definite cuts that will greatly impact many people.

Seeing as how the school has not asked for money in 20 years with the exception of when Harriman came back in the county maybe we also need to look at the county budget and some of the waste there. If the county knew the school was going to need money why did they not look at their budget. Both sides need to make cuts and find a way to reach an agreement. Jetpride the raises you keep talking about on every website were state mandated. It's not like school board just up and decided to give everyone a raise. By the time you factor in the rise in insurance costs most teachers actually lost money. Why do you have such a hate for teachers?

Baseball is slowly killing football, at least in east tn. Kids at a young age are choosing not to play football in the fall because they are told they must play with their travel team in the fall if they want to be on it in the spring. Most of the good athletes in my sons school do not play football for this reason. Just this year I have spoken to the parents of at least 6 kids in one grade that are good football players that have decided to play fall baseball. Baseball is becoming a year round sport and I'm afraid football will start feeling the effects in the upcoming years. I do not think 8-11 yr olds should have to choose a sport. I do agree that basketball is ridiculous. They play an entire season of games in June at camp.

I am also not asking for sympathy by any means. Simply stating I hope the community will stand behind the team and letting the other poster know why the boards may be a little more quiet than normal. Last week was very respectable. It was 14 to 7 with OS about to score to start the 4th. The interception changed everything. However I also think Greenback is WAY better than Kingston. Let's hope for an injury free night of football tomorrow. And I agree rcpatriot. Everyone I know would make that trade.

I think the Greenback fans are talking enough for everyone. The OS coaching staff, players, and community have been faced with more adversity in the past 4 months than most people go through in years. The loss of a very gifted and loved returning player, injuries and illness sidelining key players, and then the near fatal injury to a the senior this past weekend. Not to mention this is a team that lost 22 seniors. I hope the OS community will support these players and coaches just as much as they did in the semi finals last year because win or lose this season I guarantee they are working just as hard if not harder.

Congrats to the Bobcat players, coaches, and fans! That was a great game last night! Crow you said it right when you said it is a PRIVILEGE to practice on Thanksgiving. People dream of doing what these players are able to do this week. I know you will be the underdog, but if you all will play with the same heart you played with last night you can do it. I also want to thank the former OS players that were there last night. You guys are a big part of this too. You all hung in there when times were tough and helped to build what we have right now. I want to see a capacity crowd Friday, because a home semifinal game just does not happen around here. Support these players and coaches. They have been through so much and have worked so hard. As for the game it was a good clean game between two evenly matched teams. The bobcat defense looked great and I think that was the best play calling I have seen all year. Those boys came out after halftime determined to win this game. I was worried after Oneida scored to make it 13 to 10, but we came right back and drove it down the field. My hat is also off to Oneida. You all are the classiest bunch we play. You all will be something to be reckoned with next year, so keep your heads up.I hope to see some orange in the stands Friday night.

Hey Stiltner, back again huh? You were silent for a week after OS beat your Indians. Now you wanna start running that trap again. I'm not sure what you have against the OS coaching staff other than the fact that they never let you coach, but you were long gone before this staff was there so why don't you lay off. No one like you in OS or Oneida. Go back to coaching city league girls basketball where you belong.

I agree completely. Oneida's coaching staff, fans, and players are a very classy bunch. That was a great game. Trust me we know how hard it is to lose one like that, we've done it twice already this year. I would like you all even more if you would kick ask_me (Stiltner) outta town.lol

Hey ask_me we know this is Matt Stiltner. Coach Brackett is in your neck of the woods 7 days a week. So why don't you feel free to drop that crying towell off to him. If you are such a great coach then why didn't your alma mater Oliver Springs give you a coaching job?

Goose the benches were not emptied. All but 2 of the OS players on the sidelines stayed there. The OS coaches handled this to the best of their ability. The Wartburg coach the stopped #30 should not be punished. He is a good man. Coach Brackett has written a letter to the TSSAA to aide in the appeal of the coaches suspension. The reference to the incidence with #30 and a Wartburg coach happened earlier in the game. The Wartburg coach(not the one who was suspended) grabbed hiom by his facemask and said some things to him. That is why his dad went over there. I do not condone #30's behavior or his parents but there was more to the situation. Please do not blame the whole community. And for those of you saying OS behaves this way every time they lose.... There has never been an incident like this since Coach Brackett has been there and believe me they have taken some pretty bad losses, so to say they behave this way every time they lose is ridiculous.

The bottome line is that 1 family has caused a whole bunch of people alot of headache. The Bobcats have had a successful season. Last night was defintely not their night. Wartburg was hungrier. I just hate to see a good season end on such a bad note. Please do not think the OS people condone this type of behavior. They were just as upset with #30 as everyone else was. The OS staff tried to explain to the officials that the Wartburg coach was trying to calm #30 down because he used to coach him, but they ejected him anyway. I would like to say congrats to the Bobcat players and coaches on a successful season. We will be back next year.

Like I've said before they DID try to make it right and were told they had a copy from Sunbright. As for Clay Co. they have already traded film. As for class- this isnt the first time class of the Wartburg staff has been questioned- remember the Wartburg Oakdale article in the paper??? And yes I'm sure Wartburg will come up with some film for Clay Co considering they have been giving out film all season on OS to everyone they have played.

I don't think anyone is going to care what film you give us next year.

Exactly- everyone that gets Wartburg's films knows that you cannot see formations because it is so closeup.

I didn't delete my post. Why would I? Its in your response u can still see it. I spoke withthe OS coaches again today and they double checked the copy of the film yesterday after I talked to them and it has the 2nd half on it. Only one play was messed up. They did not try to cheat. U have the OS film and the Sunbright film so shutup, no one is cheating you. Maybe you can see if Sunbright will send you their referees too.

I just talked to one of the OS coaches and they said they also gave you Oneida.

I had promised myself never to respond to you, but oh well. Let us back in huh? We were up by 10 with 1 min left. OS whipped Sunbright in all areas the entire 2nd half. The refs gave you the ball twice at the end. You did nothing to earn it. In any other game the play where your noseguard went offsides is a penalty. You have a good team- no doubt. But that game was taken away from OS.

I am not one to blame games on referees, but the officials gave Sunbright that game. The nose guard for Sunbright plowed the noseguard over before he snapped the ball and took it from him. It should have been a penalty. Sunbright's quarterback should have been ejected after throwing an interception then grabbing the kids facemask and spearing him at the end of the play- anywhere else the player would have been thrown out. The OS kids fell on the onside kick, the refs said white ball, the OS kids get up, then the Sunbright boy gets the ball and they give it to him. Worst display of officiating and strangest game I have ever seen. OS has nothing to be ashamed of. They fought hard and came back. I don't know what Coach Brackett said at halftime but it worked. Those kids played their rearends off that second half and deserved that victory. I know alot of people are disappointed at OS's record, but you've got to remember the lineman they had to replace from last year. That is a young inexperienced line. They have had a number of key injuries this year as well. I saw a big improvement in the line tonight, so do not get down on this team and coaching staff. They are fighting. Miller and Romero played their hearts out tonight in the 2nd half running the ball. The defense had some key plays. Aliff on the qb sack, Morgan with the interception and many others really stepped up. OS boys pick ur heads up and get ready for Wartburg next week. If you put together 4 quarters you will be unstoppable.
