  1. So you know something?; if not, I dont want to hear this crap, if it is something that bad then they are wrong for covering it up, if he just didnt like him, he is wrong again, lose lose it seems to me. I fully support Coach Wilson and believe he will get the program back on track, but the administration is to blame for the current state of the team.....
  2. I hears crickets in the back ground.....lmao
  3. I didnt agree w/ the coaching change and especially the way it all went down, but, have faith in Dustin Wilson; I know he is young and inexperienced but he is very knowledgeable and will live, eat, and breath this football program. I know this man personally and these are the things that stick out when I describe him. He kind of walked in mid-drift w/o the chance to implement any kind of off-season of his own. This whole mess is the administartions fault just as LEON has stated, if they were gonna make a change (which I dont think they should have), it should have been as soon as the season ended and a new coach hired promptly. Give Coach Wilson (and staff) time and they will get this program back on track, they are not at fualt for the current state of the team, that lies soley in the lap of the lead administarter of the school. That is how I will look at it unless something went down that we are unaware of, if thats the case he should say so, othderwise, the blame stays w/ him.....
  4. Spring practice, scrimmages, or anything, does anybody have any info on what is going on? I guess this or any Springfield thread will go cold which is par for the course I suppose.....
  5. I can agree that getting rid of Coach Myers was a bad move but the hiring of Coach Wilson was not. Despite the faults in the leadership of the school/community they inadvertently got that 1 right. Coach Wilson will work his tail off and coach those boys up. The important thing being, he genuinely cares about the welfare of that program and it will eventually show, hopefully sooner than later.....
  6. There are different variations of the wing-t these days that like you point out, put more emphasis on the pass. The wing-t uses speed/deception in the running game and if you have multiple fast/quick players then it can work. We do not know if this is the offense that will be run, but if it is, I can live w/ it.....
  7. I am not thrilled w/ the circumstances that have led us to this point starting w/ Coach Myers being let go but I have to admit, I am optimistic about Coach Wilson. Despite the lack of experience as a head coach on the highschool level I feel he is very skilled in disciplining and motivating those who play for him. As far as the offense goes, I am ok w/ the wing-t, I was part of teams that won many games running that offense and feel it can still be very effective when you have the right personnel and run correctly. Basically when you are quick, fast, and have several different guys who can run the ball which is Springfield in a nut-shell. I have seen a lot of teams who still run it but slightly different variations, a little more open utilizing the pass a bit more which I wouldnt mind seeing. However, concerning the wing-t this is all speculation, who knows, he may run the spread for all we know. Having said that, I honestly can see them starting out somewhat slow this season while finishing pretty strong leading into next year. I believe Coach Wilson will be the head coach at SHS for many years to come and it will prove to be deservingly so.....
  8. I do not know the exact numbers but that could possibly put Springfield down a class. When I was in school I dont think it would have mattered much if at all but now Coopertown sends pretty good sized group over to the high school each year.....
  9. If this was the case and he did something terrible then he would have lost his teaching position as well. I guess its about the principal b/c he made the decision to fire the coach.....
  10. The response of "it was time to move in a different direction" is a very vague and deflective answer. If you are going to make a decision of this magnitude after an obvious increase of performance on the field then you need to own it and be more honest/specific w/ the supporting community. The Springfield football program is very important to me personally and if this sets them back 3, 2, or even 1 year/s then it would be fine by me to just fire the guy. This is not college athletics and coaches generally do not lose their jobs this sudden or easily. If there is something under wraps we dont know about he needs to spit it out.....
  11. Wow, is all I can muster up at this time, I am working nearly 70 hours a week lately and have been completely out of touch until looking for teaching/coaching positions on the robco site and noticed the head coaching vacancy at SHS. I kind of agree w/ RW here, this is really rather abrupt and unless the principal has some sort of personal agendas here, it really doesnt make any sense. Coach Meyers and staff have gotten this program back on track and this looked to be a good season. Also, consider the timing; spring practice is right around the corner, the off-season program is in full swing. Even if the coaches just found out, something has been in the works for awhile unless something just happened that nobody knows about..... Good luck to all the departing coaches and thank you for the work you have done w/ our young men and good luck in the future. Something is going on here and I demand to know what it is!!!!!(not from anyone here, just saying).....
  12. I agree 100%, he is a great guy doing an outstanding job.....
  13. Vanderbilt picks up sought-after QB Johnathan McCrary This guy is a 4-star recruit who had several top notch schools courting him to include FSU and OSU b/4 he gave Vandy his verbal (I think) so it may not be a done deal. Having said that, the way McCrary is talking he is more interested in going to a school and playing a significant role in bringing them up than going to an already established power..... Of course he is a 2013 recruit and was just wondering how you guys think this might effect Robinette and his potential playing time. I personally think this kid may be a better athlete but it would be hard to find a QB w/ a better head on his shoulders than Robinette, and he is a pretty good athlete himself. Either way, Vandy will benefit from creating this sort of competition I believe.....
  14. Thats cool, any word on if he is going to play QB, good thing is that he is capable of playing several positions so he should fine his way on the field regardless.....
  15. Just curious what UNA stands for, I honestly tried to think of which school it is, but am just coming up empty.....lol
  16. As a UT fan it is not much of a stretch at all for Vandy to win at least once out of the next 4 years. I wouldnt even be surprised if they split.....
  17. Yeah, you have to be exceptionally special to a get a PE/Health job in Montgomery Co., I have been trying since 2008. I am at least going to coach somewhere this fall, and hopefully land a teaching job b/4 my freaking certification expires.....
  18. I could see Sutherland going if offered a head coaching job but from what I have been told, most established coaches dont want to take jobs in the Montgomery school system b/c they just dont seem to put enough emphasis on athletics. For this same reason I believe Coach Hood will remain at Clarksville Academy and elect not to take 1 of the available openings......
  19. I say this as a UT fan; Vandy appears to be getting better to me and UT does not.....
  20. I dont disagree or have anything against those whom decide to send their kids to a private school. Speaking from a personal viewpoint, I received a brochure after my 8th grade football season from a particular private school that I am not going to name offering some pretty good perks, not money or anything but ride to and from and stuff like that. My Dad left the decision up to me, I felt an obligation to the kids I have played ball w/ since I was 5-6 years old. That along w/ a lot of pride in my hometown school. In other words there was no way I was gonna turn my back on my friends/teammates which is how I saw it at that time.....
  21. I am not even a Vandy fan but statements like this are ridiculous; you state it like it is fact and regardless what prior history tells us, you do have no idea if the trend will continue or not. Franklin has done both a great job recruiting and coaching and you might as well call all college recruiters "greasy car salesman" b/c they all do the same. The difference is Bama and LSU have the name/prestige of their schools to rely on to get top talent. What Franklin has done w/o that advantage is well quite impressive and to bash him for it is also ridiculous.....
  22. Thats a crock, the privates are in their on class b/c they recruit and it is unfair for them to compete in play-offs against schools w/o that same privilege. Thats schools in general, but the top tier schools like Maryville, Riverdale, and a few others can still compete w/ and beat those private scools.....
  23. I honestly kinda expected this to happen and I am glad it did. I believe this is a perfect fit for both sides. What Robinette does is perfect for the offense that is run at Vandy; so much so if Rodgers plays badly I can see Robinette contributing sooner than later. Having said that, I do not believe that will be the case, I believe Rodgers will have a decent year and Robinette will take over in 2013..... Now hopefully they can go ahead and close the deal w/ Matthers. Franklin is doing a great job, I am hoping Vandy can hold on to this guy......
  24. There are actually some high school kids who can run that fast, I am not saying there are any in TN but just b/c some of the super stars you named may not be that fast doesnt mean it is not true. Having said that, that doesnt mean those kids are or will ever be as good of players as those in the NFL. I wouldnt be surprised if there are a few kids in the state who run that fast or close to it.....
