  1. Oops...I don't think that was supposed to happen. But it is very hard to beat a team 3 times in such a short time period.
  2. I agree, dadoffour. If Temple-Grace isn't a rivalry, then who would Temple's rival be? The connections between Grace and Temple run deep. I like to think of Temple as Grace's older brother. Both are grown up now so it's a more even match.
  3. Is that you, Eaglefanatic? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  4. Probably...I've only given hints on this board, but with a little digging and a little smarts a Temple person could probably identify me. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> I'm a realist, as I think you are too. We know Temple is not perfect, and we want our leadership to do what is right. When wrong, correct it. Make it right. Playing by the rules is the christian thing to do. Admitting when you are wrong and paying the penality is also the christian thing to do. Even non-christians know this. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  5. A reporter who doesn't have a kid attending a rival school reporting the story would have eliminated any question of bias or conflict of interest. Hargis could be seen as using the paper as his personal bully pulpit. There is a difference between reporting (an article) and writing opinion (an editorial). Temple only has themselves to blame for the position they are in. Time to take the lashes and get back to football. You can't claim the moral high ground after you've been caught. Temple should write a nice letter to the sports department admitting they broke some TSSAA rules, say they're going to be extremely careful in the future to obey all rules, and they appreciate the paper holding them accountable. Any chance that will happen? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  6. Too bad Chastain didn't put his son in during the SP/Temple game. That one still stands. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> (for now).
  7. Yeah, I noticed it in the online version. Good to know the print version was correct. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> I wonder if any sympathy Temple gets from other school come from schools wanting a weakened TSSAA rules enforcement. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  8. It was suggested that maybe the state legislature should look into the power given to one individual (in this case, Ronnie Carter) in investigating, etc etc etc. I doubt it goes any further than a comment made on a local radio station broadcast.
  9. I've never liked the "if you don't like the rules, leave." argument, but overall the article is good in pointing out some discrepancies between the information presented by the panel and the newspaper. Is there not a sports editor who proofs these articles though? "Earlier this week I to a local radio station..."??? listened? was invited? But this is the issue in a nutshell: "The rule is very clear in each instance, and the kids were ineligible. Period. Pay your fine, make sure you follow the same rules the other 300-plus member schools do and move on." Good advice, and I hope Temple follows it.
  10. I would advise Hargis to show caution in responding through the newspaper. That is his career. I understand it is tough to listen to people criticize you publically, but his responsibility is to report on sports not respond to personal attacks. Someone needs to be the bigger man and drop the issue. We'll have to see who it is.
  11. I wholly agree. I simply mentioned the insurance as something I hadn't heard brought up before. It doesn't excuse Temple's actions. I don't think Temple is denying the violations. I think they are saying they don't deserve the maximum penalty. I personally don't think anyone other than the Temple admin believe they got the maximum penalty. /wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />
  12. They announced on the show you could get a copy of the the program on CD for $5 and it will be available (free) as streaming audio on the school website. I don't know when it will be posted (or if it has been post yet) on the school website, but the radio station's number is 423-493-4382 according to their website.
  13. I'm going on recollection here rather than try to find the articles, but I believe Ronnie Carter said the kids would not be insured under the TSSAA insurance. I'm not an insider on either the TSSAA or Temple so I don't know anything outside of what I've read in the paper or heard on the radio yesterday. I don't know if/when Temple informed Ronnie Carter of the insurance they referred to yesterday.
  14. I believe he was the person quoted in the paper.
  15. I guess to get out information that was not reported in the paper like the two 2007 spring practice kids being insured. In the paper it was stated if they had gotten hurt they were not covered. But it's not really a "forum" if you don't have both sides present or at least take phone calls etc. I can understand the TSSAA and the paper not wanting to show up on someone's home radio station though. Perhaps they would have better luck getting together on a neutral station with a neutral moderator.
