  1. Classy post in response to a not-so-classy post Waiting for a thank you to EAGLE69&74 in reply....
  2. Well you have to play Rockwood twice and Harriman gave you a close game in your 1st meeting. And the Cosby game you play on Feb. 6th at The Eagle's Nest will be a close one even though the 1st game was not. 4-0 for those four games will be tough.
  3. Wow, I was just checking rockwood's roster and they only have a total of 6 Juniors and Seniors this year. That's a pretty young squad. Are any of these returning starters from last year..??
  4. Gotta be: "That's all right, That's OK. You're going to work for us someday"
  5. I agree PhotoGuy. I have seen some intense, up tempo pressure defense from this team at times this year and would like to see it more often. The Cosby JV was in also. So it wasn't the starters vs the pf jv. Just had to through that score out there though. Have you seen GP this year..???
  6. Man this was one tough game to watch. PF seems like a well-coached, classy, talented team. I don't know enough about the Xs & Os to figure out what kind of rotation type offense they were running to get all of the open looks at the basket and layups (I bet they had 20). But I bet their shooting percentage was amazing. The Eagles never gave up though and continued to play hard but the PF defense just didn't allow them to get many good shots on offense. pigeon forge should win a lot a games this season. Good Luck to them the rest of the year BTW, they beat Cocke County by 26 and The Eagles by "only" 25
  7. Cosby plays the district games that they have to play. They also have · 5 games against AA schools & 2 games against AAA schools There non-district single A schedule includes Hancock, Unaka & Cloudland, traditionally some pretty strong teams How did your team do at state last year..???
  8. Kelvin, Steven Fowler & David Hall all didn't dress out due to injury. Not sure if Kelvin is also suspended Both teams played well and should improve as the season progresses. The Eagles made a nice run at the end of the game for a great comeback win.
  9. Good points curcy. I agree playing with emotion and fire is good for the team but you don't want to cross the line to anger.
  10. I actually saw the officials in the hall during halftime and asked "So what did Kelvin say..??" The guy who made the call said "Oh nothing, he just acted disgusted with the call" I was kinda shocked (I thought he might have cursed) and responded with something like "I guess it's tough for these guys after being on the football field for so long, holding their emotions in on the court" One of the other officials said something like "Yep, a few of them think we're still playing football" As far as the other technical, Kelvin did not "kick" the Cloudland player. He kinda tripped over him running down the court. He certainly didn't stand over him and swing his leg back and kick him. The "tripping" may or may not have been an accident (only Kelvin knows that). It wasn't a cheap shot. I don't think the ref would have even called it if the cloudland player hadn't jumped up & protested. I like to see players who show some emotion. Kelvin hates to lose. Period. I know for sure that the refs weren't paid. If that is the rule that makes the game an exibition then there shouldn't be a suspension. I saw some fire, determination and intensity from The Eagles for a while Saturday night. Just not for the entire game. I do give cloudland a lot of credit. They played great defense and shot shot the ball really well. Should be a great one with unaka Tuesday
  11. Jody, You have no reason to be sorry for anything. You didn't let anyone down. You and The Eagles gave it your all on the field last night. We're proud of you all. The team never gave up after playing from behind all night & had a chance to tie 7-1 and a home field playoff game is a reason to hold your head UP. If The Eagles don't win another game this season has one to remember. (that won't happen though) Do your best to put this game behind you. Pick up a roundball for a couple of days I have never seen players with more heart and determination to win than #25 and his brother. Other teams fans and players can say what they want but if Jody was on your side you would have a different opinion. I've got to ask about one thing I couldn't help but notice before the game. Don't want to take a shot at the kid after he's hurt but does Townsend always not stretch and warm-up with the rest of the team..?? He seemed to spend the time walking around and he even climbed the hill behind the goalpost and had a seat for a while. I can't imagine Blakely or Manning standing under the basket while The Eagles are running their lay-up drill. Not a slam against the young man and I do wish him a speedy recovery but what was up with that..???
  12. We've got a lot of rain tonight for sure. Looks like good football weather for game time though. If we get some sunshine on tha hill during the day, the field should be in great shape (and very clean ) Hope all the hampton fans have a safe trip. Bring a chair and walking shoes .
  13. I agree that folding chairs would be a good idea. Hopefully, there might be some deputies or volunteer firemen helping with parking. The student parking up "tha hill" will fill up fast and it's a headache getting turned around and getting out of there after not finding a spot. You might try going past the 1st entrance and parking down at the softball field. Maybe we can get some of the Cosby Boys to load up their pick-ups full of Hampton fans at Wal-Mart and "shuttle" them to the game.
  14. I have no complaints toward the Plain Talks coverage of The Cosby Eagles. I think the PT does a great job with their high school coverage. There is a "jealousy bug" in the community in my opinion. There always has been one and I think there always will be one. I'm sure this is common in most counties. The recent success in football & kids choosing Cosby over CCHS is fueling this as well. Let's not turn this into another CHS vs CCHS thread though. I plan on being on The Hill early Friday night. Looks like it's going to be great football weather
  15. Sorry you're wrong: Fri Feb. 17 2006 at Unaka W 61-56 But you are correct about the heart breakin' part. Good luck tonight, Football Eagles
  16. I'm sure Coach Shelton will come on here and explain his explain his reasoning for the calls on the last drive. I'm sure he was simply putting his players in a game situation where they needed a drive/field goal to come from behind. I know they did not attempt a field goal tonight. And the kicking game ended The Eagle's season a little too soon last year. Unless you know the Eagle Coaching Staff don't come on here call them classless and having a "lack of character". I've heard nothing but good things about all of these men. The school and community have been behind them even when they started 0-3 last year and before this season began. Tyler Shelton and his staff respect all of the other teams, players and coaches. The Eagles have a big game to play before they have to worry about Hampton Good luck to your team the rest of the year.
  17. Better go ahead and add some gravy to that biscuit. Sounded like it was biscuits and gravy football tonight from The Eagles.
  18. Great game tonight Eagles. 34-1 and Statebound...!!! We're proud of you.
  19. Thanks for the stats. I'm looking foward to reading the article in the PT tom. Whew, what a game and atmosphere. I've got to rest all day for Kid Rock tonight Do you think The Eagle's Nest will be rockin' monday night..??
  20. It was more Tre Pearson (sp?) taking over and dominating than Cosby choking.
  21. Sorry to take this off-topic again. But please don't let the actions of a few players and parents reflect on the entire Cosby Lady Eagle program. I wasn't at the game but I bet I could name all of the ones who were acting out of line. The younger classes are full of talent and hard working girls with class. Hopefully next year the coaches can get things back on track on and off the court. Good luck to the Lady Indians the rest of the season.
  22. How about the "6th man" for The Eagles that was a factor tonight...!!! The Cosby Faithful came in big numbers tonight and stayed behind the team even after the tough start. This was one of the largest and loudest crowds I've been a part of for an away game in a long time. Keep it going Eagles, we're proud of you.
  23. We were told this afternoon South Doyle middle school beginning Thursday night. I will confirm in the morning and hopefully get some directions.
  24. I'm going to make the situation more specific. Even if Player X did not participate in the varsity games this year at all, wouldn't the 12 month rule only apply to the varsity at the school where they transfer..?? Would Player X be eligible for JV games..??
