  1. Well I am a little rusty in high school picks lately. But here goes Blue beats MBA in a shootout Baylor defeats Christian Bros. (comfy buses and hotels if needed This sets up a tremendous rematch of the blue and the red. Questions there are will the Evil Blue Empire(EBE) choose to remain at spears stadium or will the lovely T$$aa prevail on returning to Finley? I will stay true to the blue with McCallie meeting Ensworth in Cookie town. Hope Blue Son will allow mom to sleep on the sofa and and buy the adult beverages!
  2. I happen to be very glad Ralph is home! Now let's beat the red!
  3. Aww. I may have to start a blue mom section! Of course no cookie recipes, hair dresser recommendations or clothes! However, if you need to talk football and cheer for the blue come on by!
  4. That would be Rocha. He is from Cleveland tn
  5. I think Ralph will have my boys ready to play. On my way to get my game week toes done. Will post pic! Rock on trublu! Look me up at the game!
  6. Dang, I kinda liked his attitude! Reminded me of myself!
  7. Should be a good game at Finley. Here is hoping for a blue victory Blue 24 Red 14
  8. It would be nice if they did funnel that $ to the low-performers. We shall see what falls out. Transfers for athletic and academics have occurred for years and will continue. I just find open admission of public school "recruiting" or "transferring" (however one wants to phrase it)interesting.
  9. In DII a student-athlete is eligible to play varsity sports as long as they don't receive more aid than they are allowed by the independent agency in NJ and as long as the remainder is paid by their parents or legal guardian. I don't know of anyone on 100% aid who is eligible to play varsity, as a matter of fact, we have a cross country runner who is probably fastest in the state who is ineligible because he does receive a full academic ride. What I find interesting is not the Price comments nor the McClendon case, it is the admission by several public school coaches of the "transferring" that goes on between the publics who have claimed that they don't "recruit" for years. I always wondered what happened to those athletes who didn't end up with me in 9th grade at Hixson but instead showed up at Red Bank or Soddy! I guess I now know!
  10. Seriously? Students transfer for athletic reasons alone? Wow, who would have thought that.
  11. Found this interesting this am. No talk of the DII effects just NCLB. http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2012/feb/19/inner-city-coaches-welcome-no-transfer-rule/
  12. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas! Be safe in your travels and may Santa find you wherever you land! My football wish list includes an undefeated season! What does yours have?
  13. I'll contribute a coolerful and a really awesome banana pudding!
  14. Hmmm... well then, I'm not sure that it is a violation if only athletes are receiving aid as long as they are only getting the aid they are qualified to receive by the independent eval company. So you really need just to take your proof and send it to the TSSAA and let them do their thing if you feel that Ensworth is doing something illegal. They are in D2 so they are well within their right to offer aid.
  15. I'm sorry I seem to have lost my place... is this the 5000th stanza of the same old song? You are welcome to come on over to D2 and play anytime you would like... And if you have solid proof of Ensworth having only athletes receiving aid, then produce it... otherwise, it does not exist.
  16. You can measure whatever you would like to measure. It's ok GGoose, I mentioned it first! I happen to live in a house as the only female, even the dog is male (well altered male) and have learned over the years not to take some things too seriously. Besides, I don't think I'm the typical Mom and I can be a little on the ruthless side! As for bad spots in an apple, we all have to learn from our mistakes and move on. Cut out the bad, add the caramel sauce and enjoy!
  17. I think all the D2 schools are founded on fine Christian principles and it doesn't serve anyone well to get into a size measuring contest on whose is better than the others. Each school is different in their philosophy on the best way to go about things and as such one must find the right fit for teachers, coaches and students. I'm not going to put words in the mouth of anyone but one must remember that comments in articles can be taken out of context and that sound bytes are not the whole story. In my experience with Coach Potter, I have not seen him to be demeaning or bullying, demanding yes. I'm not sure a football message board is where we need to debate our religious philosphy and emphasis or which school is more Christian than the other.
  18. It is always difficult when someone leaves even though the opportunity is a good one. The feel I got on campus yesterday was one of excitement. Of course it was the main topic of conversation! As for me, my yellow ribbon is tied around the old oak tree (would really rather be a blue ribbon) and I am ready to help tote boxes and bake cookies!
  19. I think it is a win-win for both schools and for Ralph. I think it is time to look forward to both schools finding the success they desire in all areas. Dwelling on the negatives is never a good thing.
  20. Welcome home Ralph! http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2011/dec/05/ralph-potter-coming-back-mccallie-blue-tornado-coa/
  21. Wishing everyone a very happy Gobble Day! May everyone be safe in their travels and have wonderful food and fellowship! What is everyone thankful for? I am thankful for the players/coaches/officials who allow me to enjoy the wonderful game of high school football. I am also grateful to Blue/PurpleSon for allowing me to share in his football journey and wish him and his OVC Champions team the best luck as their playoffs begin!
