In the top classifications of 5A & 3A (before we had five classifications) Middle Tennessee play's much better football than the rest of the state. It seem like Ohio moves the playoff games to a neutral site starting with the semi-finals. If I understand it correctly they will play 2 or 3 semi-final games at one stadium on a Saturday. They try to keep the travel time down to no more that 2 hours of driving.

Did the students have the choice of which school they attended or did their parents have a choice? I feel that you never punish a kid for what their parents say or do! That is like punishing a kid because one of their parents complain about what position they play or how much playing time they receive. Kids are not of legal age and have no control over how crazy or stupid their parents act. Let's not loose sight of the fact that high school athletics are for the kids. Often times decisions are made due to the adults ego.

It's Baylor all the way!!!!!!!! They will have to have the unexpected happen (several injuries, sickness, poor grades, etc...) for anyone in Tennessee to defeat them in a dual. They could loose in a very difficult individual tournament where their average wrestlers are not able to score points or place in the top four. In most individual tournaments they will place 10 or 12 wrestlers with no problem.

If the TSSAA gives the OK for an 8th grader to wrestle and he is the best in his weight classification then you allow him to compete. Wrestling is different today than it was 20 years ago. We now have 8th graders that have been to 3 or 4 national tournaments and are ready to compete on the high school level. Some of these 8th grade wrestlers are older and would be considered a young freshman. You are worried about the 8th grader becoming too cocky or having a big ego. Let me ask this question: Is the wrestler cocky or confident? I have never seen a good athlete that didn't have alot of confidence in their ability. The great ones feel that no one in the world can beat them.

Who cares about the UT wrestling club? The real team got DICKIED by that coward some people refered to as an athletic director. If people only knew the BS he told Gray Simons to his face while cutting the program behind his back. If Gray didn't have so much class he would have taken him out back for a little workout.

Unless someone else has won a USA TODAY National Defensive MVP like the Collins kid from Jeff County we are all only using up good oxygen to discuss this topic. He may not have had a great college or NFL career but we are only taking about high school accomplishments.

Other than Pearl-Cohn & Hillsboro what Metro teams have made it past the 2nd round of the playoffs the last 10 years? Metro and it's comprehensive high schools are a recepie for disaster when it comes to high school football. The adminstraton wants to field a team and have zero complaints but could care less if they win, the head coach cannot put a top quality staff together, they have little or no community support, the facilities are well below average when compared to the large county schools and most of them truly average less than 1000 fans per game which means they have very little $$$$$$ to put back into the program. They probably have the best athletes in Tennessee!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that $7.00 seems a little high for a high school football game. However, the last time that I checked it cost more than $7.00 for high school students to attend a movie. It seems like the fair thing would be for the T$$AA to receive 1/3 of the gate the vistors to receive 1/3 of the gate and the home team to recive 1/3 of the gate. The home team would have to pay for the officials but would get to keep 100% of the concessions and parking.

Well with all of the name calling and finger pointing it must be wrestling season which is great. Let's settle this debate once and for all like real men which would be in the state finals wrestling for a championship.

You can tell a true persons/teams character by how they respond to adversity. I seems as if Riverdale went back to work after the McCallie loss and took their game to another level. Teams that will not schedule difficult opponents will never know how good or bad they reallly are. Let's have four (4) classifications within the TSSAA for football and use the "MERIT SYSTEM" Why would people not want the "MERIT SYSTEM" unless they are scared of change or the unknown? Athletic Directors and coaches are supposed to be educated people (sometimes I debate this topic) and they should be able to make it work. The major problem is that everyone is acting as if they are in a gang and this is some type of turf war.

Ole Dad, You are way out of line with your statement! Could it be that MBA understands that you sometimes have down seasons. Would Oak Ridge or any other school in Tennessee not take Rutledge as their coach as I feel his background, win/loss % and championships set him apart from everyone else? When was the last time Oak Ridge won a state championship or was ranked in the top 25 of USA Today or any other national poll.

It's been 42 years since DB won a state championship? Could it be that some of the better paying jobs that attracted young families to the area like Eastman & Kingsport Press have evaporated and those same types of families are moving to other areas of Tennessee.
