  1. The Baylor School and The McCallie both have more money than MBA and Ensworth
  2. It may not be the current director's fault but 99.9% of the population do not know that nor do they care. All the people want is for the problems to be fixed ASAP. I have always said that the people will eventually have their say and my guess is that you will see several people voted out of office during the next election.
  3. You are absolutely correct. When the headmaster has the Board of Trust stacked with his confidants it’s extremely difficult to get him out unless he does something very stupid that would publicly embarrass the school.
  4. NO! MJ has a decent team but they are light years away from being able to compete for state championships on a consistent basis.
  5. It may be too late to clean house at BA as the damage has already been done. The headmaster definitely needs to be gone (Christmas break would not be too late) and the football staff should also leave during the holidays. The sad part of this is that most of the old alumni that were at the school have already left BA for jobs at other schools. This is a perfect example of what happens when the headmaster is allowed to get all of his YES people on the Board of Trust.
  6. I disagree that MJ is the most overrated 6A team in recent history. When you have 9 divisions with a population base of just over 6 million people most of the the teams are overrated
  7. The coach should have had his contract terminated immediately following the game! There are very few excuses for a team forfeiting a game. What lesson are you teaching the players other than we will just quit if we are getting beat.
  8. My experience has been that you must get on the "IN STATE" recruits early and it's a must that you get very creative with the distribution of money.
  9. The coaching staff at Lipscomb with Trent Dilfer was probably the best high school staff ever assembled in Tennessee.
  10. MNPS tend to hire from within! How long has it been since MNPS actually did anything past posting job openings on a website to hire coaches? Great coaches are difficult to both find and hire. When you fail to actively recruit those great coaches the chances are very slim that one of them will phone MNPS and inquire about a job.
  11. You are absolutely correct that MNPS could basically screw up a one car funeral! When Tony leaves PC they will have a difficult time replacing him. One of the major issues with Glencliff is that there are 48+ various languages other than English that are spoken in the home of Glencliff students. The student body is typically made of up first generation immigrants that did now grow up participating in athletics. Most of the Glencliff student body goes to work immediately after school as work and making money to help ones family is a valued asset. Yes, with a great principal that wanted to win in football Glencliff could hire a great coaching staff that would theoretically go out and recruit enough talent (yes, I said it and it’s the truth) to become competitive.
  12. Let’s not say “so it’s cool for private schools to come take our kids right” when those kids belong to no particular school. The truth about MNPS is that since the early 70’s kids have been attending various MNPS as long as they provided their own transportation to and from school. This is nothing new with MNPS!
  13. You are absolutely correct that MNPS have in the past and continue to this day to shoot themselves in the foot with most every decision. It's nothing more than a major bureaucracy that needs to be completely overhauled. I will say that I have heard nothing but great things about Adrian Battle, but her hands are tied. When you have an elected school board (should be appointed by the mayor), a 40-person dysfunctional metro council and a bunch of idiots that are elected Mayor of Davidson County what can you expect. Let's not forget that the last three mayors of Davidson County (David Briley, John Cooper & Freddie O'Connell) were all graduates of Montgomery Bell Academy. I ask the question, what does someone that attended elite private schools know about public education?
  14. The Diocese of Nashville has allowed the Catholic high schools in the Nashville area to become the joke of the TSSAA D2AAA athletics. At one time Father Ryan was competitive in most every sport but other than a few minor sports they are atrocious and JP2 or Pope Prep (why the name change?) is not great at any sport. IMO, when tuition cost at both schools is close to 20K per year you are going to lose the traditional large Catholic families due to economics.
  15. Just hire the best coach available and you will eliminate 99% of your problems. Never allow the kids and parents the opportunity to hire a coach as they will hire the softest person available and the results will be a disaster.
  16. Being a complete outsider I am going to say that you are correct about Masters. However, I am going to say that the Board of Trust has allowed Masters to do all of this over the years and due to that fact you need a completely new Board of Trust. That board should be filled with BA alumni and no one with children or grandchildren should be allowed to serve on the board.
  17. Just a few things: 1. CPA has benefited greatly from Ingle Martin being a steady leader of the football program. A prime example is look at how quickly the CPA basketball program dropped off when Drew Maddux retired. 2. Due to the number of football concussions and kids/parents just being lazy the numbers for football players have dropped off significantly. Other than a few teams you rarely see teams with 40 freshmen, a JV team and then a varsity team with a total of 75+ kids in the program. For most schools that ship sailed many years ago. 3. You mentioned St. John Bosco and Mater Dei out of California. Everyone can rest assured that the Catholic schools in Tennessee will not ever compete at that level. For whatever reason the Catholic schools in Tennessee refuse to provide the necessary resources to even be really competitive within the State of Tennessee. Being ultra successful at the high school level requires great people all pulling on the same end of the rope. Just look at how much DeLaSalle has dropped since Bob Ladouceur retired or Brentwood Academy after Carlton Flatt retired. What so many of the high school administrators don't understand is that if a school has a great football team and encourages/forces the players to be multi-sport athletes all of the other athletic programs in the school will be strong.
  18. You are completely correct as to how most athletic departments are operated. I personally know of a football program that won a state championship in the 90's and shortly thereafter the principle terminated the head coach due to a personality conflict. That same school has only had 7 or 8 winning seasons since that time. The school has had various different coaches and most of the same people are responsible for the hiring process since that state championship season. There is now a push to terminate the current coach. My response to the principal, athletic director and the president of the booster club is why do you want to fire the coach? I informed them that those same individuals that have screwed up all of the new hires since the state championship season are going to make yet another bad hire unless they get lucky. This is not a facilities problem or a lack of athlete's problem, it's simply a people problem. For a team to compete for state championships on a consistent basis everyone from members of the school board, administration, faculty and student body must all be pulling on the same end of the rope. If you have individuals that are more interested in protecting their turf you will never have championship level athletics.
  19. I don’t see where the school gains anything by making a change during the middle of the season. The only thing that comes out of this action is the principal and school board that were part of the hire begin to deflect the attention away from the fact that they made a mistake.
  20. Not taking anything away from JoJo who wrestled a great match but I expect to see Burnett at 106lb for the high school season. While I have no confirmation I have heard that JoJo will be at 120lb during the high schools season. Is this true or have I been fed a line of BS?
  21. Don’t misquote me with regards to the BA QB! I have only ever watched the young man on TV and I will leave the rankings game to the experts as I have absolutely zero experience ranking football players.
  22. The citizens of Sumner County are getting exactly what they voted for. Maybe this will encourage everyone to both register and vote!
  23. At my age I have seen everything possible when it comes to the snooty religious types and religious discrimination.
  24. Not only could Notre Dame care less about a player's religious affiliation, but former Lipscomb head football coach Trent Dilfer could also have cared less about his players religious affiliation. How many non CofC kids are still on the roster at David Lipscomb High School?
  25. Yes, I am an entrepreneur and look and P&L’s everyday. Data and statistics can and continue to be manipulated to ones advantage. The problem is that I am as old school as they come and 2+2 will always equal 4. I fully understand that East may not have played as strong of a schedule as in the past (that’s is a problem) but the fact remains they are undefeated. Playing a tough schedule insures the team is battle tested entering the state playoffs. I have always said that it’s the coaches job to make the schedule difficult enough that a team never goes undefeated as we all learn more from our losses that we ever do from our successes.
