  1. You can't afford to drug test all players, it cost around 45.00 per test, however you can test randomly or at a coaches discretion. Let's don't let this get out of hand, heck, they don't even test everyone in college.
  2. At our school we test football players, band memebers, cheer leaders, and any other extra-curricular in the building.
  3. You have to get their consent to drug test, however in order to let them play you need to have them sign the consent. Football is an extra-curricular activity. It is something that the school system does not have to offer. A coach can make it mandatory as part of his policies and rules that students sign a drug testing consent form as well as the parents if the student isn't 18 years of age. If the kid refuses a drug test it is no different than someone refusing an breath analyzer. I just thought this might help. I think some coaches are just afraid to test because they are afraid of what they might find out. Be smart, test those who you feel are abusing drugs, you can't afford to test everyone, only test when you feel there is a problem.
  4. Does anyone know where the region 3 singles tournament will be played
  5. I agree with you, but the reality is some principals just don't know the meaning of common courtesy. I guess I'm different but when someone tells you they will let you know something, that means THEY will let you know something, not the local newspaper. But in their defense, a lot of administrators now have never coached so why should we expect them to know how to hold an interview or follow up.
  6. Let's not blow this out of proportion. I mean I have coached in TX and Georgia and sure there are some that make over 100K per year, but its not like they all do. First of all one reason the coaches make so much more in tx and ga is because the teachers make more, I mean you have to think if you have 20 yrs and a masters in Georgia your going to make 60K teaching and about the same in TX. Well if you make 25% or whatever as a coaching supplement your making 85K. I think coaches earn their money and for those in here saying TN coaches make too much money need to rethink it, TN has some of the lowest paid coaches in the Southeastern U.S.
  7. Johnny, so whats going on in your world these days?
  8. Massey from MUS to Baylor, good luck.
  9. I didn't see this one coming. Massey to Baylor from MUS in Memphis. Good luck. He is expected to begin in mid Spring.
  10. Lovingood was named the Head Football Coach at SE Whitfield in Dalton, GA. He is a former Head Coach at Charleston / Walker Valley.
  11. Ya, call me if you would, do you have my #? I am going to the bball game I think, I haven't decided yet.
  12. Johnny, speaking of somewhere taking a long time to hire, lol, wow!!!
  13. Chattcity, did you read my post? I never said McCollum was in the mix, I said he was probably going to sit on his contract that he is still getting paid for at MTSU. I said I thought Rankin had a shot, maybe he doesn't, I'm just going on what I was told from some Baylor Alumn, It's people like you on here calling people idiot's that take away from boards like this.
  14. It is my understanding the Baylor job is Rankin's to turn down, McCollum is still sitting on a contract from MTSU, he doesn't have to take a job this year, he is probably going to take a year off, the GT thing didn't work out, Rush is staying at Hoover as far as I know the Valdosta job is still up in arms though I have my suspicions, lol.
  15. You mention McCollum, I'm not positivie but I think he has been hired at Georgia Tech, however he hasn't been officially hired until after recruiting is over. He is still on contract with MTSU and they are still paying him until he takes another job or until the end of the contract. With that being said, if he did take the Baylor job or Valdosta job he is going to wait as long as he can before officially accepting it, however, I'm almost positive he has accepted at GT. Just a hunch. I can't say for sure because I haven't talked to him in a few months.
