  1. Just curious, how long did that take? I'm like you though. Let's wait until that final 8 team bracket is set.

    NO MERCY! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Probably didn't take all that long. Why would we wait until the final 8 is set before we talked about the match-ups that are going to take place before then? I think you are misunderstanding the thread. If we sat around and waited untill the last game of the year to talk about anything CoachT would go out of business...

  2. MVP and Coach of the Year

Everywhere you go that is all you hear

But when the bench is needed and the game is on the line

We definitely know who looks fine in 2009

    LA's dominance

    Or UHS' one game confidence

    Uppermans' "will"

    versus HOGEYE skill

    Better watch out Bees

We are out for the kill.

    I like it.

  3. I would have to say that Livingston is considered the favorite. However, Upperman has already proven that they can beat Livingston (especially @ Upperman). Station Camp played Livingston very close at Station Camp.

Livingston just needs to take care of business one game at a time and I think they will take the region.

  4. UPPERMAN IS SENIOR LOADED AND I KNOW THEY CAN PLAY. I'VE SEEN WHITE HOUSE ELIMINATE UPPERMAN THE LAST 3 YEARS IN THE REGION AND I REMEMEBER BAXTER PLAYING WHEN HE WAS A SOPH AND I REMEMBER HIM AND NASH AND CHRISTIAN FROM LAST YEAR SO THIS YEAR IS REALLY NOT A SURPRISE TO ME.

BUT GREENBRIER IS NO GIMME WIN FOR UPPERMAN. THEY HAVE SEVERAL TALENTED PLAYERS AND THEIR COACH IS VERY GOOD ALSO . I HEARD HE COACHED IN COLLEGE. HE HAS THEM HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION IF THEY CAN KEEP HIM THERE.

GREENBRIER COULD SURPRISE . BUT I DO LIKE TO MAKE PREDICTIONS OF THESE GAMES SO I'LL GO WITH

    UPP-70

    GREE-55

    Is your CAPS lock broken?

  5. One more thing, during the trophy presentation, LA clapped for Upperman, Upperman sat on there hands when LA was handed a trophy.

I would like to address this. I am a true blue LA fan. I think that Upperman was still just a little shell shocked during presentations. I don't think that they meant anything by it.

They were probably thinking about the John Jenkins nightmares that they will be having tonight.. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

  6. Also, as for the All Tournament presentation! GREAT JOB TJ SMITH!!!!!!! The recognition that he really deserves. He works as hard as anyone out there during the season, offseason, etc and got him a well deserved award tonight so congrats to him. Also congrats to Dunn, Ramsey and all the other LA and Upperman players that made this team. It is a great honor, and they all deserved it.

Clint West was one of the others. He has been playing really well.

  7. DON'T COUNT OUT CPA. I KNOW HOWARD LOST ALOT FROM LAST YEAR . THEY MUSTVE RELOADED.

FULTON ALSO HAS 2 BIG TIME PLAYERS AND ARE THE DEFENDING CHAMPS. THEY COULD REPEAT.

Fulton is the defending champs. I just don't think they can get it done again. They have already been beat 3 times by Austin East and if they meet up with Livingston I think Livingston will win.

CPA could make a run at it. They lost a close one to LA (without Z). They have been beat by Hume-Fogg and David Lipscomb. However, they beat David Lipscomb 63-46 in their district finals.

  8. I believe the tournament will look like this.

(7#1) Livingston Academy vs. (8#4) DCA

(8#2) White House vs. (7#3) Dekalb Co.

(8#1) Station Camp vs. (7#4) Macon Co.

    (7#2) Upperman vs. (8#3) Greenbrier

All 1st round games will be hosted by the higher seed. All games are on 2/28 @ 7:00pm

*If this is incorrect please let me know.

  9. Tennessee AA basketball started out with 112 teams. They all had one goal in mind. Now, only 64 teams remain.

Now that we can clearly see the brackets what are some thoughts on matchups or future matchups...

There will be 32 AA basketball games on 2/28... What a night it will be!

My favorite to go all the way is Livingston Academy!

  10. All I have heard since the last meeting between LA and Upperman is that when they met on a neutral floor, Upperman would come out on top. You got your neutral court, and you were handed a loss. LA took the lead in the first quarter and never really looked back. Upperman made a run but the Wildcats was too much for the Bees. I guess it really is true that a BEE can only sting once. This was also the first meeting between the two teams that the officiating was evenly called. . . One more thing, during the trophy presentation, LA clapped for Upperman, Upperman sat on there hands when LA was handed a trophy. Congrats to LA, they played a great ball game.

I wouldn't get too excited just yet. Although the Cats played great, they still may have to play Upperman one more time... And it would be back in the BEE HIVE where the officiating will always be favored for Upperman. LA will just have to kick it up a Notch and play even harder and better.

Thats assuming Upperman can beat John Jenkins.....

  11. In these hard economic times it's nice to know that Walgreens is still proud supporters of our high school athletics. Tonight has been declared LA Wildcat night at the Cookeville location just down the street from the hoop. They felt bad last night when the shelves were emptied. So to help in the HOGEYE nations time of need the shelves have been stocked to the max with STING EZZZZZZZ !!!!!

Looks like that STING EZZZZZ will be going on sale tomorrow. I thought both teams played well. LA just played a little better. The refs were fair. Missed some on each end and made some bad ones on each end. TJ Smith played great. You would think that Upperman would have taken away that 15 ft jump shot... Jackson played well for LA also. Nash played well for the Bees.

If Dustin Baxter gets those shots to fall, it just might be a different story next time.

  12. I believe you need to reread 'williamz71's post. You might owe him an apology. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

You are correct Rabbit. Thats not the post I meant to quote. I meant to quote the other post from that 'gottalove2playthegame'.. I was in a hurry.

    Sorry William.

Thanks for pointing that out Rabbit.

  13. I have seen these teams run press defense all game. Coach Melton runs his bench in and out the entire game. I agree if he played the starters the whole game they would have won by an average of 100 points easy. From what I have always seen is that when a weaker team plays a stronger team it can't do nothing but help the weaker team get better by making them work harder. My son plays for York. York didn't have a very good team this year and the Coach was in his first year ever as a head coach. LA beat them bad every time but they improved every time. It made them realize what they needed to do to get better. Besides game situations are the best way for younger players to develop. I have no problem with LA and Upperman Coaches. A team can have all kinds of talent and still not win without a capable coach. This is the way Coach Melton and Coach McWilliams coach and it is successful for them. They win. This is only my opinion and everyone has one.

CoachT can go ahead and lock this thread if he wants... But I am going to have to go ahead and say that you must be an idiot when it comes to basketball knowledge.

You all keep writing about the players he has coached....... those kids had talent to begin with... now if he was the reason they all shot well and could score he needs to make his own instructional video..... but i doubt it.......what kind of offense did he run?????? What does he do over there besides say.."Here boys! Take this ball and shoot it!"????????? He don't run any offense..... he relies on the talent he possesses. Thats why McWilliams and the Bees will win the district tournament tonight. They have an offense and actually run something, instead of a Chinese firedrill free-for-all. I'll take running a good offense and getting easy baskets over relyng on one kid to put up 40 to have a chance to win any day!!!!

So is lack talent the only reason other teams aren't winning? What are you going to say if he wins for 8 straight years? Get a clue man.

  14. OK OK. The poet in me just couldn't resist.

Upperman is black, LA is blue.

    There's a big game tonight at T-T-U.

The fans will be loud, the refs will be wrong.

7:30 tip-off -- boy, this day is long.

    You'd better get there early,

    To find yourself a seat.

Tonight's the night, we'll find out,

    Who can stand the heat.

    /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

Very nice. I am going to go ahead and say that Upperman better just get out of the kitchen.

  15. I don??™t know about everyone else but I am going to pull for Upperman as long as they aren't playing us...

Well I'm not. If someone else can knock them off, then that will just open the door for us. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  16. Actually, I don't have a child that plays for Scott, thank goodness. I just know what happened and think it's ridiculous. I just feel for the other kids who had to put up with all of this.

And in response to everyone that says Scott has a young team, thay always have a young team. That is always the excuse for not being able to compete. Eventually you just have to admit that they aren't very good and they have terrible coaching and a bad athletic department. Since 1998, they have had 6 coaches, and in my opinion that shows that the athletic department stinks. You have to give someone a chance to develp a program and these kids. Not to mention, since 1998, they always use the excuse that they're young. So what; a lot of teams are young.

    haha.. Get a clue.

  17. It also must be nice to walk into a program with so much talent that you really don't have to do any coaching

Shows how much you know... Especially when it comes to LA.

Coach Melton coached most of his current players in middle school. He has coached Dunn, Ramsey, & Peterman, for their "entire" basketball career. He coached TJ Smith, Kendall Melton, and Adam Wilson for most of their middle school career. He even coached the younger Melton and Hayden Hill in middle school for a year or two. He also had last years seniors Todd Smith and McClerrean for most of their middle school years. Before that he coached Tyson Stover and Brandon Matthews (1,000 point club member) in middle school and then at LA.

Some other players that played on his teams at LA that weren't from his middle school spent some time playing AAU for him. One I know for sure would be Wilson Cates (1,000 point club member).

Another good player at LA that Melton coached in middle school was Matthew Reeder (1,000 point club member). Reeder graduated the year before Melton started coaching at LA.

** Really looks like all that talent has just been handed to him uh? Get a clue.
