  1. Sevier County must set the lofty goal of trying to hold Science Hill to 35 or less. If either team does so they will win. Obviously there will be little to no defense Friday. We will get a good show of the new age of football (basketball scoring). Still believe bears win by 10.
  2. Not sure about Lowe moving that soon. Who ever takes it has a lot of work ahead. Need to recruit the halls. There is talent there, just have to find someone to get them out there. Will be interesting to see if there is even much interest in the job. Not as appealing as locals think.
  3. Looks like this game depends on if either defense is capable of getting a stop. I know the bears will put up points, but from here on out if they don't get to 49 they might lose. Sad this is the case, but it is a struggle up front and the running game is sevier county's kryptonite. Bears 49-42
  4. Great question on the d line question. Sevier county has almost always struggled with lineman playing one side of the ball. They just don't have enough linemen to go just one way and be strong on either side.
  5. Obviously these cookeville fans do not understand the difference in timing. If Sevier County has laser timing they would have 7-9 guys run under a 4.7. They time on the track, which is also faster. But these times are still faster then most. In no way is Sevier County world class speed, but they are well above average. Maybe the Cookeville area will understand this a little better. New prediction 56-14. Just because we can if we wish.
  6. For starters every team in D1 football will have at least 15 players in the 4.5 range or better. Does Sevier County have that many? NO. But they are probably are the 2nd fastest team in East Ten. Fulton is faster. Every year for the past 7, 4 football players have made up the state qualifying 4x100 and 4x200 teams. And every year have made the finals in at least one if not both. That is not a coincidence. In all fairness they have probably 7-9 guys that are handheld and in track spikes 4.5s or faster. Willing to bet that is still more than 95% of TN. But they are a football TEAM with well below average line on both sides. That is the missing link and will be for next couple of years.
  7. This is not a slam dunk win for CAK. Have seen G-P on a couple of occassions. Only got to see CAK once. Drastic difference in mentallity. G-P really stuggles against the pass. CAK is good not great with the passing game this year. G-P is extremely physical. CAK not so physical. I think this will be a really good 3A game. It all depends on who can control the game with their strength. I believe CAK will be able to pass at will, but I do not believe they can slow down the G-P running game. CAK must be prepared for the big tailback, but the real weapon is #86, do not kick him the ball, quick as a hiccup. All this said CAK scores late to get the win. 35-31
  8. The chance for a cookeville win are about equal to Fulton losing in the first round. The bears have the advantage in offense, defense, special teams, and coaching. Oh yeah and home field advantage. It is always good to have the hump work to your advantage. Early prediction 42-7. Bears!!!
  9. EastFan: You are right in the fact that our district is similar to the DB and SH district. It is terrible also. I think it is good for the IMAC that East and SD have had good years. That being said you know as well as the rest of us, SD can not go score for score against Sevier County. There only chance is to keep the ball for at least 35 minutes of the game and for Sevier County to have 3-4 turnovers. All of this could happen, but most likely not. Even once the playoffs begin Sevier County should handle the first game like the IMAC, face a little resistance the 2nd round and be ready for the Rebels. I hate the fact that so many of the games have been uncontested this year, but it is a product of a very strong Bear team and some dreadful IMAC teams. There are 2 or 3 teams in the conference that would not be able to make the 3A playoffs. This all being said I look for the Bears to see some early adversity this Friday and pull away in the second half. 38-17
  10. Obvious pick is Smoky Bears by about 45 or more. Of course Coach Brewer will call the dogs off late 2nd early 3rd. Just want to see if anyone from Seymour has interest in the game. If I am Seymour I hate the fact the game is on TV.
  11. This will be the biggest crowd in 13 years at Sevier County. It is a big game for both teams, because the winner will host the rematch in the playoffs. If all goes as expected they will meet again in the 3rd round. This is great for Sevier County, they seem to always do well in rematches. Plus they are the only 6A team with a fighting chance against Maryville east of the boro.
  12. This is a game that Sevier Co. must play perfect. Run defense for the Bears struggles at best. On the flip of that the offense has the ability to score at anytime. But the last time these two teams met the Rebels forced Sevier Co. to short throws and had them try driving down the field. If the Bears offense does not score quick they seem to lose confidence. By comparing early season schedules Maryville is more proven (not that they need to prove anything). The Bears are handicapped by a poor conference and tried to schedule tougher teams in Maryville and Bearden, but the bulldogs seem to be struggling. Maryville- 45 Sevier Co. 17
  13. This will not be close. Fulton's only struggle will be having focus throughout the year. They are to much for everyone in the state all classes except Ensworth and MAYBE Maryville.
  14. Obvious problems. Worse part a lot of season left.
  15. Worse possible situation for DB. Sevier county played terrible on offense last week. Normally do not have back to back bad games. But their defense played great, could be the same effect on the D for the worse. Bears must handle front pressure from DB d line and try and slow down DB running game. Bears 31-21
