  1. I personally have no problem with private school teams recruiting athletes as long as the guys can make grades. By recruiting i dont mean it like college recruiting, but if a school wants to go out and offer a scholarship to a public school player that is not bad but good. Here is a kid who would get a chance to attend a good private school and will go to college whether or not it is to play sports. It is a win win for everyone but the public school team. The public school cant be mad because it should be about the athlete and they have no right to "claim them"
  2. Does Walter Dozier even run track... he hasnt been near the medal stand at state from what i remember. I think the best guy is at McCallie though, his name is Evan Ellison , hes probably the favorite for D2 in the 400 and close in the 200.
  3. Ben Davies would probably win state in the shot (and about 7 other events) if the rules didnt limit the number of events.
  4. I talked to a TSSAA official today and he said that he didn't think the record would count.
  5. he's not even a fast hurdler. 15.0 in the 110's doesnt get the job done anywhere but TN
  6. I'm goning with Haltom in the 3200, he is the defendidng state champion. Also, I like ECS in the 4x800 because they ran an 8.08 i think, and their qualifying time was run while resting one of their better runners.
  7. A girl From Briarcrest Christian in Memphis Broke the state record by 7.5 inches in the pole vault. Also the state record in the 300 hurdles may fall before the year is over.
  8. I just wanted to add that I'm nearly 100% sure that Gilreath's 47 and his 21 were both hand timed so they could be up to a second off. The common thing is to add the .24 seconds. Even with this he may be the fastest still in TN, but It does change things, him vs. Adrian Bentley, Chris Vaughn, or Lee Moore would all be very tight in the 400 or 200. James is an amazing 800 runner, and I hope he gets the state record.
  9. The best 4x400 teams I have heard of or seen this year are Cordova 3:21, MUS and BA 3:23.
  10. the better question would be who is james vaughn
  11. First of All MBA really has no chance against BA, those relays don't mean anyting. BA didn't have their A 4x1 and who even cares about the 4x2. MBA didn't have any sprinters last year, and I haven't heard of anyone yet who can beat Vaughn or Ford. The only person who has a chance at that is Evan Ellison from McCallie. Brentwood is returning pretty much their whole team, and is going to be very hard to beat at state. If anyone does it would be MUS for two reasons. First their west region is extremely weak and they will have at least 1 person in every event at state. Second they have a very strong team. Their 4x1 has run sub 43 twice already (however they lost to BA at state), their 4x400 will win state. Ken haltom is probably the best in the 1600 and 3200, and It looks like Moore will be able to beat davies in the 300h. If I had to guess, Brentwood will bring home the title like every year.
  12. The best 400 runner in TN may be James Gilreath from Bartlett who ran 47 something in the open today (I think it may have been hand timed) but he is running for Baylor next year
  13. I don't know if anyone has thrown out any names from my end of the state, but Jack Ivy for White Station and Ken Haltom from MUS are probably the best. Ken won state last year in the 3200 for div. II, and he is running for Tennessee next year. Jack is also a solid runner, i'm pretty sur he is running at Furman next year.
  14. Moore actucally hurdled last year and got Disqualified at state. He was the anchor of their state champion 4x400. Also I think Cordova has some good 400 runners. They ran 3.22 in the 4x400 already this year.
