  1. After inquiring about this rule actually found out that Tennessee high school baseball is governerned in association with The Natinoal Federation of State High School Association... (NFHS) Their rule is that once a dead ball is called the play is dead..... Amazing what you learn when you ask.....The MLB rule 8.05 states: The pitcher delivers the pitch from Set Position without coming to a stop. PENALTY: The ball is dead, and each runner shall advance one base without liability to be put out, unless the batter reaches first on a hit, an error, a base on balls, a hit batter, or otherwise, and all other runners advance at least one base, in which case the play proceeds without reference to the balk. So there you have it........ What are the predictions for the tourney and who will be on the bump first ????
  2. What a great game friday night at Halls. West came out of the gate with a fury 5 doubles in the first few innings. Looked like Halls was done. Halls never gave up, head coach and assistant restricted to bench in 7th, this motivated the sometimes dorment Halls team. Maybe this team needs to see that fire out of their coach's ???? Umpire had a short fuse and jumped the gun....... Sometimes when your not sure of a call you tend to over-react.... Here's the call: Called balk on the pitcher, ball is hit anyway, umpire calls dead ball.. Is the ball live???. That was the argument and cause of the restrictions. What is the correct call????
  3. What are the current standings? West has to play Oak Ridge 2 games and Halls 1 Halls plays Powell 2 games and West at Halls
  4. I think it will be alot more competative than most people think. Halls has considerable depth, but the coaching staff must not over coach and let the talent play. Getting the right players in the correct position was the problem last year. Not until the end of the year did the infield get through a game without multiple errors. The biggest question will be if Noe can handle the duty behind the plate. Without him at first means a new face to throw to at first. This leaves several options in the infield. Bowman, White, Turner, McConkey and Clifton, all will play some in the infied. Who hit's the best will get the nod. It will be an interseting year. West, Karns, Oak Ridge will certainly have alot to say about the outcome, and Central with the Green kid pitching will be tough. I think a very close race for Dist 3....
  5. Blue gray was played this weekend in Lebanon. What does everyone think of the showcase? Worth the money???? It seemed to have some good players there from all over the state. Several colleges did attend I heard 25-30 schools there. From DI to juco. Did anyone really standout?
  6. CONGRATS to the Red Devils another good team win. Good luck against WB sounds like you have your work cut-out for you. All of our community are behind you win/lose. You have proven that you do not have to be great, just better at the right time to achieve success. Enjoy this moment, it will stay with you always. 7. It's going to be the rubber game between Halls and Oak Ridge. Who the the favorite in this one? Who does Halls have to pitch? Is Halls defense good enough to hold OR? Halls has committed alot of errors this year in the infield, that is going to be the difference. Looks like Halls bats are coming alive from the box scores. Alot of questions to be answered. Does coach P have the answers??????
  8. Heard it was near capacity crowd at Halls, some 250++ in attendence for the Halls Powell game, standing room only. What a great day for baseball. The real story was Halls holding Hargis 0-3 with a srike-out, ground out and a fielders choice and he wasn lucky to be playing after some comments to the umpire. That guy is hard to get out. Officiating was incosistant behind the plate.
  9. The tournament will come down to several factors. Pitching, timely hitting, and errors. I have seen more errors in games this year than ever before, district wide. Halls has made more error in the infield than I can count. They have to get the error bug off their back. Pitching is almost a tossup, West has two of the best I have seen but not real deep. Powell's pitching is good, as is Karns. Oak Ridge is getting it done in all situtations. Halls pitching may be the deepest but has been a little inconsistant. Hitting is hard to gauge, Powell's Hargis has the ability to get on base at will and make the best pitcher look bad. West has a good 1-5 hitters then slacks off after that, Karns is pretty good top to bottom as is Oak Ridge. Halls is struggling with hitting except for Cooper and Noe. I think the seeding is most important this year than ever. If the Halls bats will wakeup and stop the errors they look strong. If west can get that 3rd starter and can continue to hit the ball they can be a disruptive force. Oak Ridge needs to get their groove back after the loss to Karns they have the best odds. With Karns hitting their pitching stroke they will be in every game. Powell will need a little help from others and favorable matchups to be in the hunt. You are right it is a toss up. that's why you play ever game as if it's your last. The great American game of baseball should be an unrelenting war of nerves... Ty Cobb
  10. I heard the tie breaker was : 1) head to head 2) Wins against district opponents according to seed at end of year. those win against higher seed equal better win.... Someone correct me if I am wrong
  11. I love this time of the year, everyone is watching the scores of others. Here is the question of the moment. What are the rules of the tie-breaker?
