  1. I agree, there is nothing wrong with playing other sports. What was the real reason they quit? Have anything to do with "CHEMISTRY?" Heard rumors of preferential treatment of students/players at the school. I'm just an innocent bystander ,but my eyes and ears are open.
  2. Knoxville Catholic is first. Knoxville Fulton is second. If Austin East wins, Austin East is third and Anderson County is fourth. If Austin East loses and Anderson County wins, Anderson County is third and Kingston is fourth. If Austin East loses and Anderson County loses, Kingston is third and Austin East is fourth. Don't know the tiebreaker situation, but this is from TSSAA website.
  3. BBball nuts- I think you have gotten talent confused with athletic potential. My scouting report on Kingston-1 Senior, No experiene, No basketball ability. 1 Junior, limited experience, no basketball ability. Post starter, sophomore- strong and athletic but cannot finish, 1 move, turns to the right-fades away-throws it up-Makes about 30 % from 5 ft.-easily frustrated, poor free throwshooter-hard to coach. Soph pt. guard-limited ex. out of control, cannot shoot, penetration-will charge in penetration-very hard to coach. Off guard- dido point guard -even think they theyare sisters. Bench 6'1 post- soph.-weak, cannot catch, cannot finish, pressure her on any rebound, will turn it over. Dido 5"11 Freshman post. Seen most of the games- its not coaching. JV team vs. Varsity schedule. Give it time. I think it will change. Only thing is attitiude for this team. Very poor from top to bottom right now. That will change or it will be a VERY-small team. Seen him do it.
  4. Looking for tournament weekend of April 23rd. Suggestions please!
  5. I am not from Smith Co. but why would "they" do this? What did the Courier Say? It sound like this would not be the place for any coach to go if you want to IMPROVE a team. It might be a good place to go and play the people who will keep you your job, do enough to get by, and keep your mouth shut. Don't know all the details, but that is what it seems like.
  6. BigD sounds like he is done. You do not have to go to the tourney. There are members schools that don't even compete in tournament play. I feel sorry THOSE kids. The tournaments are what you work for. Yea you're right they are not in high school. But the tournament play is what gets them ready for high school. You see higher competition and many different styles of play. Many teams don't press, but when you get further down the line you see things like presses, trapping defenses, and heaven forbid mam 2 man. That is what you will see in high school. Seeing these things earlier will prepare you for the next level. Playing a 2-3 against a 2-3 doesn't do that as much. Besides most kids play AAU as soon as the season is over anyway so it's not like there going to go home and rest. Fact is the game has evolved to where if you want to be really good you really do have an offseason; you have down time. That goes for teams and individuals. Team camps, individual camps, AAU, pre season games, season games and tournament play, then it starts all back over. It could be like in a lot of places and they do away with all middle and some high school sports. How terrible would that be. There young, they love to do it, and for most kids these days, they need it. I wish we had these thing when I was growing up.
  7. I wish these guys would go to U.T. so we could have something to be proud of. I know the lure of these programs are great and I really can't blame them. But it would nice to be able to go watch them and say tere from Tn. Thank you Tyler Smith for choosing Tn. Can't wait to see you in orange.
  8. I know a very successful coach that really wanted to go there last year. I'm glad he didn't now.
  9. sounds like you guys spend too much time worring about what the coach is doing ang not the team. Who would go to watch a basketball game and pay attention to the coach putting his hands on his face. I don't pay five bucks to watch every move a coach makes. Especially one sitting on the bench. It's not like he's on the floor wanting to be seen. Hey "firm believer" I saw Pat put her arm over her face on t.v. against UConn. The reporter the next day said she should have blind folded her face and she agreed. Why make a big deal out of something so trivial. You guys are just looking for something to cry about. Oneida has played a brutal schedule. I would say the toughest for a single A team except maybe Clarkrange. That is how you get ready for tournament time. Asking what is wrong with Coach West? What is wrong with Oneida people? You have a very respected program that is loosing some of it's luster with complianing fans and bragging students. I'm am not from Scott County but I have friends there and have been somewhat of an admirer of OHS. I do not personally know Coach West. I do know his Coaching. He is an excellent coach and seems like a good person as well. I would say he is not yelling at the girls for a couple of reasons. 1.The youth of the team. 2. Junk like what is on this board, "he's yelling at my baby, they should fire him." "He shouldn't yell at those girls it hurts their confidence." The latest, "He don't care because he's not yelling enough." WHAT? Are you kidding me? Here's an idea go to the GAME to watch the PLAYERS. Let the COACH do the COACHING. Support the team, SHUT UP!!! Stupid junk like this ruins programs. Other option.......don't go to the games. Just support the team do bring it down.
  10. what are the circumstances to these coaches having to do double duty? Lack of qualified coaches, lack of teaching positions of egos? Just asking?
  11. i would be looking for a new job if I were you. This A.D. is unethical and unprofessional and nothing will change that. If he is able to control who you have on your team he will control other aspects as well. One of the most sacred duties as a head coach is the opportunity to choose the players you want for your program. At any level. i have worked in a similar situation myself. It is not worth the fight. All A.D.'s are not like that. The A.D. is sopposed to be a coaches biggest supporter and if he doesn't see eye on things or if there is a problem they handle it in private professionally. There are always jobs out there and I would guess a better fit for you.
  12. Speaking of zone defense. Why can't you win with a zone? Syracuse wins 20+ games a year with 2-3 defense. Many college teams run either some type of zone or matchup. I agree that you should be a multidefensive team. But many coaches try to run only man 2 man and that is much easier to coach against.
  13. My thing is....do something about it! 1.If you know so much, get your teaching degree, apply for a job, get hired and do a better. 2. Take your kid somewhere else and stop ruining the current program your child is in. 3. Make him/her quit. 4. Most important......Don't get on a gossip board and talk about it.......do something productive for everyone concerned. Or, refer to rules 1-4.
  14. They do have 2 classifications.Small and Large.
