  1. I think Arlington is poised to move up next year....might even represent West TN in 6A....
  2. I just have a hard time choosing a team that isn't local....blame it on loyalty.
  3. Haters? Maybe so...but speaking for myself, I enjoy watching good football. I don't "hate" anyone. I'm a W.S. fan, we're out of it now. So yep, I'm hoping for Whitehaven to take their "A" game east of here and win the semi's, then finish it the following week. I think there's plenty of other people from this area wishing the best for WH also. But don't worry bhs, it isn't YOUR bandwagon anyone is jumping on.
  4. Congrats HC! Looks like it was a decent game, maybe closer than many expected. But that should be the way it goes deeper into playoffs. Good luck next week! I'll be watching from a distance....
  5. Well, congrats to Whitehaven! The Tigers left no doubt who should be the representative from this area in 6A. Great job throughout the playoffs. I hope they do well against Mt Juliet. Start well, keep penalties/turnovers in check, and finish well! I'm climbin' on the band wagon....
  6. Hmmm, Looks like not much competition from Ridgeway tonight....
  7. 24-7 Whitehaven....and the Sparty ship is sinkin' deeper!
  8. To my (very limited) knowledge, no. I do wish we had some better media/tech coverage of local games. We have one radio station, and sometimes, Comcast will show up for TV broadcast on a local channel. But just not much else for high school support.
  9. LOL....Taking the high road, eh? Well, should Sparty fall tonight, I'll hop on the Haven's band wagon. If HC plucks the Roadrunners from advancing, I'll be pulling for HC the rest of the way too.
  10. yep...had to do it! I thought I'd see 20-30 "hate me" replies. I really do like their(HC fans) passion and presence on this board though....most of what is posted makes for fun reading.
  11. FYI......Here's the Commercial Appeal's take on the game... "Ridgeway has played some outstanding football over the last few weeks -- especially on offense -- but the Roadrunners will have to overcome a huge challenge tonight if they are to reach the semifinals for the second year in a row. The Patriots have steamrolled past all 12 of their opponents this year, outscoring their competition by an average of 45-10. Henry County does most of its damage on the ground, with Najee Ray (960 yards, 12.6 average, 15 touchdowns) and Shaquille Allen (909 yards, 17 touchdowns) leading the way. Offense has never been a problem for Ridgeway either; Jaylen Walton enters the game with 2,320 yards and 24 scores. And Sheldon Dawson is a threat to score any time he touches the ball. But the key will be on defense; linebacker Lenard Harden, defensive tackle Adetayo Ajayi and company will have to make some stops." What do you think?
  12. Soooo, HC fans, I have a question for you.... When you lose to Ridgeway tonight, what team do you pull for to go the rest of the way?
  13. ....and you think this is unique? Aren't most all teams coached and taught to try to score on every play...not just on each possession?
  14. Ahhh, the memories! Actually, the Brentwood game was every bit as difficult as the Whitehaven game that preceded it. Both games went to the wire, were won late in the 4th quarter. The Maryville game was actually somewhat anti-climatic. None the less, your point is well taken,....defeating the same opponent twice in a season is difficult, but it has happened.
  15. I have been on Coach T for about 4 years now....maybe a bit longer. That memory/old age thing.... I have always admired the active following the Henry County fans have for thier program. I find myself pulling for you guys each years as you get further into the playoffs. I mean, who can't appreciate well played football? However, other than what I read here, and see in game scores. I don't know anything about the team or players, or coaches. Regarding Ridgeway, since I am a White Station fan, I have seen them play. Albeit usually once, maybe twice a year. They fit the pattern of many of the better local teams....meaning, usually good coaching, good to great atheletes. When they get on a roll, they are really tough to beat! Defensively, they have struggled this year due to youth. As in most games, when your defense isn't very good, your offense spends less time on the field. I think that accounts for alot of the early season woes. They have managed to adjust, gain experience, and get better as the season went on. I don't know if they are good enough to beat HC, but I do expect they will show up and give you a good game. Some posters seem to think HC defense is soooo good, that the Ridgeway "stars" will get hit really hard, and lose their desire to play. REALLY!? I mean, do you REALLY think they don't take shots here? Look at any good football player, or good football team....every game they play, they have a target on them. So the opposing defense is going to always give it their best effort to hit the guys hard, and put some fear into 'em. I really think that over the past 2-3 years, these players have felt hard hits. Yet they continue to play hard. So please, show them some respect for being "football players", just as your HC players are. They all understand quite well this is a physical game. I would also imagine, Ridgeway players might have a hit or two in store for HC. Whew...ok, rant over... I'm looking forward to seeing how this game turns out...intrigueing match up! Good luck to all...I'll be watching WS vs WH....
