  1. Well, think about it. Now, you're usually starting to work out and prep for the season right after Christmas break. You work out from January 10th or so, to about March or April. Then, spring practice starts around late April, and lasts till about mid-May or so. Summer workouts run pretty much through the whole summer break, and then, right before school starts in August, practice begins for the season. The season runs for about 10-12 weeks if you count a jamboree. If you're good enough, you go to the playoffs, and if you're really good, that lasts for about a month, and the state championships are held the first week of December. So, lets see here. That's about.......44-48 weeks a year that are dedicated to football. It's mentally and physically exhausting. Even to a 15-18 year old kid, it wears you down. And oh dear god, I couldn't even begin to imagine adding a basketball or baseball schedule on top of that.
  2. I'm thinking South-Doyle needs a new strategy or something. Duncan is running an offense that he doesn't have the personnel for. The linemen are too small to play what he's trying to run. From the highlights of the game, the defense needs some coaching as well. Lots of arm-tackling and not wrapping up. All in all, 2-3 wins would be a major accomplishment this year. I'm also thinking SD needs a new head man. Don't want to say that Duncan is a bad coach(he did reach a state title game with Powell in the early 90's), but I don't think he's right for this, specific job.
  3. Farragut, Bearden, South Doyle, Carter, unicoi county never follow heat rules
  4. Well, South-Doyle did lose some pretty darn good linemen last year. The scheme that they're going to have to run this year is going to have to be quick, short throws, and a draw play or two.
  5. UT Medical Center has confirmed that the young man has passed away.
  6. WVLT has just reported that the young man has passed away.
  7. Well, this isn't exactly what I had in mind for the opening week.
  8. I hope that this young man is Ok. Prayers go out to him and his family.
  9. I really hope that Duncan does well. This program needs a jolt to the arm. Now, I wasn't initially on board with the hire at first. I was kinda skeptical about it to be honest. Then, I thought about it a little more. Duncan did take Powell to a state title game in 1991. Duncan had a lot of good success there at Powell. But, him being out of the game for 17 years does concern me a little. The game, even at the high school level has evolved by leaps and bounds. If he can adapt to the modern, post-2000's game, he'll be a pretty darn good coach for the Kees.
  10. Not really that hard. This team can only go one way, and that's up. Been away from these boards for a while. Nice to finally talk some SD football.
  11. Who are you? You have to have some kind of alterior motive for being here. Unless you're just some dude who woke up in a bad mood, or something to that extent. BTW, the whole homeschooling thing, as for me not being in school anymore, is/was my decision. Have a nearly perfect record for discipline, and almost never was in trouble. My grades were dreadful, but that's more me being lazy than anything else. Any other quarrels you have with my posts? One of the better rebounds after a loss in modern times here in this little area.
  12. Umm, yes, yes you are. First of all, who the heck are you to tell me I don't have a dog in the fight? Really? Do you even care about South-Doyle? Unless you're one of the football players or coaches or something. If you are, that's another story, but I seriously doubt that. You know who the joke is in this situation? Do ya? Well, if you don't, that would be you, good sir. Here's the bottom line _____________________ Unless you are one of the fans, players, coaches, parents, etc., GTFO of this thread, unless you have something constructive to say. Ehh, the basketball team has the groundwork to be good. Barnes is in year 2, and I think all the things to compete are there. Stevens would be an excellent choice for our coach, no doubt about that. Sure his stint at OR didn't go so well, but look at what he did at A-E. State champs(although the loss to Independence was bad, but then again, most teams lost to Independence).
  13. No s++t. Really? I had no idea I stunk. (This is sarcasm, in case you haven't figured it out yet.) Really, I couldn't care less about the fact I never would have cracked the 2nd team JV. I really don't care. It's not the reason I started this thread. If it was, I would have attacked every single player on the team. I don't, and I will not attack every breathing thing within 50 yards of SD because of some petty thing like that. I have always given the good players thier due, and contructively criticized the ones that aren't so good. None of what I do on here is a full blown attack on you, your team, and this program. I'm just sick of seeing good athletes sit at home every year because of a coach who couldn't do much more than lose his darn mind every year.
  14. I think you give our team entirely too much credit. OJ is good, so is Bama. Conley still needs to get down some basics of the game, and our o-line, with the exception of Joseph Romines, is going to be subpar.
  15. That would be my choice. However, Stevens from what I've heard, is still gonna teach at Oak Ridge.
