what do y'all think about Columbia?

a game is a sport so yes BOWLING and golf are both sports. you have to become better at your acuracy i would love for someone who doesn't bowl on a regular basis to bowl against a highschool bowler and not get beat. bty i know football players who are on highschool bowling teams and they consider bowling a sport

well in a way we do we go with the football team to whatever school they go to and then we play before the other band vice versa depending on the school so in a way it is one on one at some points. and if you look at the football playoffs they can actually be compared to a torney bracket b/c you have to beat the team in order to advance to the championship game.but in band there are such thing as region shows but your right about not going up against just one school in them

in a way they can, they can decide to call back a touch down. and what about tourneys there is more than tow teams there and they give 1st 2nd and 3rd places. in marching and they only give those three places a well so it is either score in the top three or nothing.

in a way the ref has some part of how the game turs out in other sports like football because they decide wheather or not to call a penalty so in a way they are like our judges. just with white and black striped shirts compared to kaki pants and dress shirts

band has a winner and a loser like any other sport there are just more teams in between. we do play against more than one school. and we do play for points based on a 100 point scale. if u had to look at it in a game way it would be like a bracket for a baseball or basketball tourney.

ok i know this from expierence. but still if it takes less physical effort to play baseball than is does to be in the marching band then why can baseball be a sport and not marching band?? and if you say that a game IS a sport the def of a game is a competitive activity involving skill, chance, or endurance on the part of two or more persons who play according to a set of rules, usually for their own amusement or for that of spectators. so why can't a band competition be considered a sport after all. because we are compeating against other schools just like any other team

and football is defined as a game not a sport. so you can't go mainly on definition

wrong.. they stand up on stage and do as little movement as possible how much strength do you really have to exert to do that

b/c we do play different things all year in the stand but like any football team who has to perfect thier defensive and offensive plays we have to perfect our movements and our tone as well as marching in step all turning in the same direction at the same time so just as you run plays repetatively in pracetice we go over our forms set by set. oh and yes band is a sport this coming from one who has mrached an instrument marched in the colorguard and played several sports the require just as much physical ability and endurace as band oh yeah this is also coming from someone who has grown up around football all her life. i never said that it was harder than football but is still a sport never the less.
