  1. You are right, and sadly, I was wrong. Well done on another espnism, however misguided. He'll be LIKE BUTTER, CUZ HE'S ON A ROLL. spread thin and melting under the pressure of actually having to make in-game adjustments and pregame planning
  2. Well due to the outcome of the job search I'm pretty sure coaching ability was NOT part of the job requirement. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> The admin wanted a 'yes-man' and got one. They probably felt that King didn't fit the bill. King like Whitefield will land on his feet, both are men of integrity and character. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  3. I, unlikely some in the community, am not blinded by the shining light on top of the hill at FMS. I was simplistically very optimistic that they wouldn't even give a second thought to a MS head coach in lieu of an exceedingly qualified, honest, man of integrity already in the building. that's where my optimism lay. And you are correct Fairview isn't filled with those 'type' people, but the few that are in the community like 'that' seem to be the loud minority which brought about distracting issue after issue over the past few seasons. I guess we'll see how full the glass really is when fall rolls around. And you had a great post going...really letting me have it...until the end. Was that a Stewart Scott impersonation? I don't get it? You may have confused your Dick Vitale and Stewart Scott cliches. its ok though, we forgive you /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  4. A great way of tearing a program down is to completely disregard the best choice for the kids, the school, the parents, and the community. Coach King! He wanted to be there in spite of everything that made the job undesirable to other experienced coaches. I think my attacks are warranted considering the means by which Coach Hughes has been elevated to his new found position. My predictions for the future are, you can reread my previous post, based on knowledge of the new coaches' inadequacy having never worked on a high school staff much less worked 'with' a high school staff. I do want what is best for the team, unfortunately the 'best' things keep walking out the door(or are being pushed out).
  5. Since beginning this post at the request of a friend I have been sitting back watching the festivities, I have not been disappointed! Unfortunately I am a "glass-half-full" type of guy so throughout the process (or lack there of) of Fairview's quest for a man to guide the Jackets to continued success I consistently assumed that the administration would do the right thing for the student-athletes at Fairview High. Boy do I have egg on my face now. Maybe I'll become a bit more cynical and negative now....probably not though...I have come to fully understand that Fairview's Administration is UNLIKE any administration that I have ever seen. The AD posts the Head Coaching Job. A week later sends a mass email so every other coach can see who is applying (genius) to the candidates to say they would be contacting candidates for interviews. Upon deciding who they want to interview, the AD neglects to contact those not being considered leaving 40 professional HIGH SCHOOL coaches to wonder "whats up?" Here's an idea Mr. AD, choose one of your jobs to do well. Williamson County Commissioner, Athletic Director, Softball Coach, or Golf Coach, because right now it looks like all your irons are melting in that fire. The Athletic director should have the hardest job in the school. I've worked at schools where I got an email every week from the AD asking if there was anyway he could help me and my program be more successful. (I wonder how helpful Whitefield, Matykiewicz, Rewis, Etc. would say you were to the football program-or other smaller programs). Looks to me like a stipend is being wasted. To the rest of the Administration-you need to do a little more homework next time before allowing the wool to so obviously be pulled over your eyes. If you did do your homework and still made this decision, shame on you. I considered not using this forum to bash the new head coach before he every gets going, but the opportunity is too ripe. My Dad always told me that two wrongs don't make a right....well...Two Head Middle School coaches don't make a Varsity High School Coach either. Hughes walks into a good situation with a good senior class, but having seen first hand his inability to develop basic techniques in young players tells me after this senior class hands him at best 6 wins the program will be heading down a road that will require an experienced HIGH SCHOOL coach to rebuild what is about to be torn apart. And for those YellowJackets reading this.... Play to The Whistle! Your fans know that you will succeed no matter what hand you are dealt. Always Remember...Chop 'Em!!!
  6. I imagine he is probably the front runner... We can only hope that another of the assistants will put in for the job. They have a Great man on staff, King, who has been their through the last 5 HCs. he's been their for 10-11 years now, loves Fairview and wants the best for the team. exactly the reasons the admin will probably go in another direction. and to answer another question. the MS HC and the HS AD are good buds. shameful small town politics in my opinion.
  7. A shock to all YellowJacket fans!!!! Coach Whitefield tendered his resignation Thursday as Head Football coach effective immediately. The administration (AD included) forced him to make decisions against his best judgment on the facilitation of the football program. The major conflict between the two parties was the Administration forcing Coach Whitfield to bring the MS Head Coach onto his staff without him having any say in the matter. This might cause some to say, "well that should not be an issue." However, the MS coach was the other finalist for the HC job 2 years ago. He accepted an offer to be an assistant on the HS staff in the past but left after a week, and has consistently attempted to undermine the HS staff in hopes of eventually being elevated to the HC position. How do you think he'll play along if he knows he's untouchable? and all this after Coach Whitefield was promised upon taking the position that he'd have the authority to Hire/Fire as he saw fit. Over the last two years Whitefield has sent 6 resumes of qualified teachers/coaches to be considered by the admin...not one was given a second look by the admin. The student-athletes at Fairview have been done a disservice by the administration once again. They have continued to grow even through a revolving door at the HC position brought on by an admin with a skewed view of the importance of a solid and stable football program. Fairview is a goldmine mired by issues that might not be worth the headache for an incoming coach. Having talked to Coach Whitefield personally I can tell he was totally taken off guard, but felt he was put in a position where he would have to compromise is principals. He has not been looking for other jobs and was excited about Fairview's future. He said he will stay committed to the Kids and the offseason weights program until a replacement can be found. Hang in There Jackets, Fviewallday
  8. KS, you will be happy to know that the Harpeth-Fview will continue to grow their rivalry over the next two years. they'll battle during Week 5 next season (pretty sure its at Fview).
  9. A heartbreaker for sure. The kids were so close. It'd be one thing if we didn't feel like we could've done anything more to win. We were on the door step and couldn't seal the deal. Great year for the program though! Lots of kids in the halls were energized by this football season. Nothing recruits out of the halls better than a team that wins! Next season will be interesting for sure. Fortunately for LC and FView we have 2 playoffs spots to split among the teams we have. Hickman knows they have a tough row to hoe after losing all of their talent, and East is still 2 seasons away from any success in this district. The 4A schools in our district (though I know ziltch about Giles) look to be rebuilding as well. SH has lots of talent but lacks forward progress if you will, Page loses huge talent in the backfield and at WR, Marshall seems to be in the same boat. With the systems they like to run it is harder to reload if you've had seniors soaking up the PT for a couple years. It still doesn't sit well having our schedule versus 4A schools matter toward our placement in a 3A playoff bracket. The logic escapes me. Either way Week 9 will be a battle next season! Can't wait! /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  10. so I came on this thread hoping to see Loretto fans talking about hopes for a new season. Instead I find another Idiot Wavo player spouting off like he is something. The way you run your mouth I'd venture to say that you are probably NOT on the starting roster and you do NOT and will NOT work hard enough to every be. Any self-respecting student athlete would be in the weightroom (or on another sports team) trying to figure out how they could get better, not on here talking about how good they are. Oh and while I've got you on the line are you that good that when you get to the playoffs you can't even get your team into the endzone???? 5-5 (newsflash: 5-5 is NOT good, being a wildcard is NOT good)and a 1st rnd 41-0 shilakin' you might as well of not shown up. That's embarrasing, oh that's it!?!? You're embarassed so you need to try and tear a team that is working their way out of a slump down to make yourself feel good. got it. glad we had this talk.
  11. Oh and BTW. Follow....along....with....this....tropicalstorm....thought...i'd....type sllloooww....since..you..are...obviously..not...overly.....intelligent. I'm pretty sure based on this topic and thread that the fans here have given up on THIS football season. Hence why you see them talking about NEXT season. The only mention of this season was started by a raging lunatic high school kid from owcoa(he's probably sits next to you in algebra). Are you following the logic? or should....i....slow....it....down.....for...you. Oh and go to class, the 2nd period bell just rang kiddo. You don't what to be tardy. and pull your pants up!
  12. I'll speak for Fairview...The Junior Class has 23 kids coming up most with game experience, 6 returning on both sides of the ball. Cassidy and Raines are back in the backfield. We lost 2 big OL Beard and Collins (might not have been ideal for the offensive gameplan anyways). Biggest hit for Fview is the loss of Johnson, he was a kid that DCs had to account for on every play and at FS he was a black hole (ended the season with 10 INTs). He'll be missed. I know the Fairview Football program is excited about the new district. retaining the Hwy 100 rivalries (EH, HC) and in county rivalry (Page) was huge. The end of the season will be exciting this year for Fview. Wk9 vs. Lewis Wk10 vs. Hickman, both home games! This next season will be very excited. The other non-contributing sports (i.e. they don't make any $ so why should their opinion matter sports) are a little upset (and are blaming the FB coach like he had a vote) because they had created good rivalries w/ wavo, creekwood, harpeth, and the district 11 schools. But I say they need to learn how to create rivalries against the schools that the football team plays, like it was back-in-the-day.
  13. First, let me say I would come back with the classic "at least we are still playing. nannynannybobo" comeback. but in this instance it won't be necessary. I could also use the ever popular verbiage made infamous by Hickman and East fans when they start calling each other illiterate inbreeds, but I won't do that either. Oh, and I haven't forgotten who won our meeting earlier this year it was 7-6 and neither team scored an Offensive TD(not a really great argument for you either, huh?) I'm not bitter, it turned out OK for us. Anyways, I knew after I posted the famous last words "credible source" that I'd see a crap storm. so here it is, I talked to a dear friend and former colleague who was in Murfreesboro for the meeting today with other coaches and athletics administrators. At this meeting is where this discussion between the coaches took place. it was more of a collective contentment with the realignment based on continuing rivalries and the added bonus of 2 auto bids. All said, I'm afraid that you read my post with the wrong colored spectacles. When I spoke of each school I was referring to the coaches not the whole community which obviously contains people who try to read between the lines to often.
  14. I know from a very credible source that Hickman, East, and Lewis wanted Fairview to go south to give them 4 teams in the district, thus 2 auto playoff bids. Fairview agreed with the move, especially since East and Hickman are on the downslide. well, Hickman is on the downslide and East is trying to work up. pretty good situation for Fairview and Lewis in my opinion. Natural rivals stay intact on Hwy 100. think about this district now? you have the top 3 teams from 6AA and the top 3 (w/o DL) teams in 5AAA in the same district. stout to be sure. there will be very few sure things on the district schedule. exciting football!
  15. I understand the intentions of the T$$AA with this realignment..but...I think a lot of teams might be getting the shaft when the playoffs come around. at the same time I have a mind to say if you can't cut the mustard, tough! District record counting towards qualifying for the playoffs just doesn't seem (i hate to say it) fair. why should my record versus 4 teams in a larger division for district play count toward how I stack up versus teams of my same caliber for the playoffs?? I also think it's funny that this reclass under the guise of saving on gas $, comes after gas prices have dropped 40%.
