  1. The reason you would need a TN all star team to compete with them is because they already put together an all star team from more than one state. How about they just wrestle with the kids from TN? Ranking public and private in the same poll is silly.
  2. ok purple, here it is, quoted from this post. It's on the first page of this thread in bold print no less. Also, the things I stated are not generalities, they are specific, literal things that have happened. Perhaps it is you that is too uninformed about this situation to comment.
  3. Note the quotation marks. They denote that the word was used previously. But since you asked, he cheats, he lies, there is no transparency with the finances, people are yelling at him at the board meetings, and people want nothing to do with anything he has a hand in. Sounds pretty "toxic" to me.
  4. It appears Bowers and his supporters have a lot (or very little, whatever the case may be) in common with him. The "toxic" environment has been created by Ben and no one else. I have been around wrestling for a fair amount of time and things have never been like this before. As a matter of fact, I have seen any organization in this kind of shape. It is not "toxic" for people who have had enough of him to speak up and say so. It seems a large percentage of the people who have had any dealing with him do not want any more (and most of them seem to only want to be give their kids a chance to wrestle). So, either everyone who knows him is absolutely crazy or this dude is the only "toxic" part of the deal. If no one want to be around you or even deal with you then it probably ain't everyone else. It's you. Any person with an ounce of integrity or pride would not continue to try and do a job they are obviously incapable of. Apply Occam's Razor and tell me the solution.
  5. Sounds like a great idea and I hope it works, but my bet is that he won't go for it. It is important to understand that a lot of what drives Bowers is to be perceived as important. He wants to be seen as being in charge and in control. It makes him feel like he is somebody if he thinks he is getting accolades for something that kids are actually accomplishing (I know, weird and sad right). And yes, before anyone gets their panties in a wad, these things have come out of his mouth. It is not hearsay or slander.
  6. AHHHHH! The double edged sword of dominance.
  7. If the things that are said are true, how is that bashing? If one doesn't want to be held publicly accountable to a standard of decency and honor then that person should not ask for a public job where one is accountable to a constituency. If one runs for a public office or position then that makes them inherently open to public criticism, and when that person's constituents believe the job is not being done appropriately then it is their duty to air their concerns. While in his current position, Bowers has publicly lied and cheated (little kids no less), and is now trying to rip them off. Therefore he is subject to be held accountable in a public forum. If you can justify his actions, please do so. If not, then don't be shocked that when he called down the thunder and he got the lighting along with it.
  8. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention the guy is a liar and a cheater.
  9. What a joke. Bowers is the clear problem and if he is one of the "coaches" that is a bigger joke. His knowledge about wrestling is worse than his ability to deal with people and communicate (which is saying a heck of A LOT).
  10. $300 bucks just wasn't enough to support Bowers' trip. Come on guys!! get on board.
  11. Where are you quoting this statistic from? How about the statistical analysis that the guy who gets the first take down is simply a better wrestler most of the time, and that when two quality kids meet this "statistic" is no longer applicable?
  12. So.......should we be expecting you guys to sign up for the Bradley tournament this weekend any moment? Got to support the state!!
  13. But if I make people ask me for my blessing, it makes me important, and God knows I want people to think I'm important! I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and dog gonnnit, people like me.
  14. SInce the answer to every question is to call, I'll attempt to answer. It appears that in order to force kids to wrestle in TWF events, Bowser has come up with some new bylaws that require attendance in TN events to go wrestle by using the "All athletes who meet ...., any existing state qualifying procedures". Rumor has it that kids will have to wrestle in the TWF state to be eligible for Fargo. I'm curious, however, to know what will be done if kids refuse to go. Will TWF sell TN's spots to other states and not allow TN kids to go? Will those kids be allowed a release to compete with another state? Is TWF going to punish kids because adults refuse to deal with another adult that they find deplorable and dishonest? So many questions, so little time
  15. Are wrestlers going to have to weigh in this year or are we all going to get to use the honor system?
  16. Here is an idea of what is going on without trying to make the schedule seem bigger than it is. There are 5 freestyle tournaments in TN this year.
  17. My lack of wrestling experience is obviously the problem here. I'll try to get out and watch some outside of TN sometime. Perhaps one day I will qualify to understand your vast knowledge. I agree the venue is terrible and should be changed. I didn't realize that was the issue you were talking about since you were complaining about the split. Maybe you don't even qualify to understand your argument? Jesus and scribes and pharisees? Really? Seems a bit much. I didn't call you Joseph Goebbels for making up quotes. ...and just to reiterate, the cow palace is terrible and everyone involved for moving the tournament there should feel ashamed and embarrassed for what our state tourny has become.
  18. Once again, who are you quoting? Maybe you and I don't understand quotation marks the same way. It appears these may be over generalized statements and not quotes. It also seems very presumptuous to speak collectively for everyone who promoted a private school division. I am not sure how it affects the level of wrestling as a whole in TN to have divisions. I agree that some kids place that wouldn't have but so what? The top level kids still train just as hard and compete across the country. I leave you with this topic, as it has been "beat to death". (quotation marks in this instance denote slang)
  19. I don't remember that. Who are you quoting? Let's also not forget that the public/private split was a direct result of the private schools blatantly breaking the rules.
  20. (Unless something has changed)It is allowed in wrestling because each region decides how it will name it's region champion and runner up. A region dual is not required by the tssaa. The strength of this region means that getting to the duals is the goal. Where they end up in the bracket in relation to the rest of the state is usually an after thought. I do not agree that sports that are inherently different should use the exact same rules. Several years ago this was done with wrestling/basketball off season rules and the results were terrible. For example, wrestling teams were allowed a certain number of off season scrimmages. No wrestling team I know of has scrimmages. Mixing apples and oranges can get confusing. Just the difference in vocabulary is enough. Football teams are required to "play" playoff games. Nobody is playing wrestling.
  21. follow him? Follow? For real? True colors usually show through. If these were baseless allegations then why respond to them in the first place? Unless you have intimate knowledge of these things being true or not, why would you not assume they were hypothetical? A statement or allegation is not verified by being mentioned on a phone call nor does does it mean that some sort of statute of limitations has run out if it was not mentioned. Definition of akin 1 :related by blood :descended from a common ancestor or prototype The dog and fox are closely akin. 2 :essentially similar, related, or compatible His interests are akin to mine. That first sentence is not good. Was it a question or a statement? The second half was definitely a question but no question mark. The first half alludes to something that is never followed up on. I would normally not point this out but you seemed interested in vocabulary, so I thought you might be curious about grammar as well. Lastly: Pick a user name
  22. Forums are, by definition, a place to exchange view points, so it seems completely reasonable to discuss concerns about TN wrestling on a forum dedicated to TN wrestling. Issues such as the chairman of the twf taking his children on team tn trips for free which is akin to him being paid for a volunteer job, or money being made on the ordering of gear, of balance sheets being provided for money collected for trips and where that money was spent would all be appropriate topics for this forum and thread as is the current discussion. Other than calling 911, what would a reasonable person be expected to do in the case of a house fire? Firemen suggest laypersons stay out of the way and let professionals do their jobs. No need to get for one to get in over his head simply because he is looking for credit of accolades. P.S. I think you meant "were you" not "we're you".
  23. This appears to be the problem.
