When SW beat Springfield 62 - 0, it got my attention (although Springfield is down this year) When they beat Beech 45-22, it got me a bit worried, can't lie. I've heard the QB is very good and some good receivers and they play very disciplined. What is it that makes SW so good this year?

Question on the Fake FG: I'm not sure if it was a called fake FG or a botched snap and holder just scrambled, but either way. The holder scrambled to the sideline and heaved a pass that was caught at the 3. Someone said it was caught by the snapper. Anyone know for sure? Also is there some crazy rule on FG attempts that allows lineman downfield and/or anyone to catch a forward pass? Or did the ref's just miss that? No flags on the play and Riverdale got first and goal and scored just before halftime. Thoughts?

Is the lack of activity on this thread along with the results from the jamboree a sign that HC will take a significant step backwards this year? Anyone have info on what to expect? I don't know but I will still be there for support. Go Big Red

If both HC and Springfield make it that far, the game will be at HC I believe. Lots of football to be played before then.

As a lifelong HC Big Red fan and a long time Coach T reader and occasional poster, this message board is not enjoyable like it used to be. The ole days of OldDevil, Prophet, Drewcephus, RedSwarm, SEC1rules, MSURacer, and others when there were actual discussions about high school football are a thing of the past. You notice many of these are no longer on CoachT, but I guarantee you they are at games on Friday nights cheering on Big Red. There are a few newer HC posters that are over zealous and talk big/smack (very seldom actually discuss football) then get their feelings hurt when HC gets beat - even by a very good Beech team. Yes they can post whatever they want to, and get mad and take their ball and go home, and delete threads,,,, that is their right. Yes all teams have those type of fans. But I don't need that. I will still occasionally read/post on the threads, but will always be a Big Red fan just like the other 3000-4000 that attended the game Friday. I guess I'm just too old for all this extra stuff, just wanted to discuss football. Congrats to Beech on a very physical game - eers, Bump11, Tandem. As is the case in most Beech/HC games, a couple of plays are the difference between winning and losing. Good luck the rest of the season. Go Big Red

I just saw where they moved this game to Centennial High School in Franklin. Is the turf not ready at Summit? Does Centennial have turf?

Thanks for the post Director. To overlook Summit would be a mistake. Yes the lost a lot from last years team, but the players they return have seen some VERY good teams. Summit lost one game each of the last 2 years - Oakland last year and Franklin 2020. They will not be intimidated - in fact they should be favored. That being said, I like HC in this one but they will need to take care of the ball and start better than last few years -- and I think they will. If history tells us anything HC gets better as the season goes on, and has had some early season struggles the last several years. This will be a close one. Go Big Red!

I know nothing about Powell, the reason for the question. But I had heard from earlier in this thread that their D was their strong point. So are you saying Nolen and Soles would not be very effective against Powell's passing offense?

It was a VERY entertaining game. Page just made a few more plays then HC. (The Page QB made plays with his legs to scramble and has a great arm.) If you had told me HC would only punt one time for the night, had 1 turnover, rushed for 522 yds, scored 21 points in the 4th, I would thought they win going away. But Page took advantage of every break, and the QB could not be contained consistently and they made plays. Congrats to Page. Should be another fun game next week against Powell as both are mainly passing teams. And Congrats to HC on the mid season turn around. They return many key positions and I expect them to be back next year. Go Big Red.
