  2. Any update on the final of the girls and boys championship?
  3. If they were second at the TNT, then she must be a player for the Ft. Loudon Lady Braves.
  4. From everything I hear, Science Hill has got to be the favorite. Everyone talks about how dominant they are. I haven't seen them play.
  5. Steve, Is anyone posting results for TMSAA Large Sectional at Pigeon Forge? Can't find anything out about the play in games and first round games. Have any info to pass along? Congratulations on the win today.
  6. When will all these Area 1 battles be decided? And what will Blountville or TA Dugger's chances be against Sevierville Middle? Are there any teams who might be able to stay in the gym with the Area 1 teams?
  7. Anyone have info on how the Blount County Tournament is going? What about Heritage Middle girls?
  8. Anybody with a name like macdaddy is high on my list.
  9. I agree with this line of thinking. A great way to help your feeder program is to help train the little league coaches. We would invite our little league coaches to clinics with us and would run a little league camp in the summer to help jump start their programs. They could join us on the sidelines or in the box if they wanted. We tried our best to make them part of our family and it paid great dividends. Later we involved the booster club and had them pay for sending the coaches to clinics or camps during the summer. If LC can get a middle school program, great, if not, then make the little league the best in the region.
  10. Coachinhoops, What I challenge is your perspective. I understand politics with athletics, but you claim corruption. Big difference. As coaches we find it too easy to blame everybody else on our failure. Stop whining and realize that as the coach, you are responsible for your program. There is no job that doesn’t come with baggage. If you are up to the challenge, then take the job, if not, move on. Great coaches love great challenges.
  11. Coachinhoops, I believe you may be a little biased. It always seems to be someone else??™s fault when we fail. It is too easy to blame everyone around you. I just do not see the lack of support from the administration you are talking about seeing that the principal is an old basketball coach himself. I know you have the inside track on what went on in the school, but political corruption? What would be the motive of the politicians in undermining the coach? Weren??™t Coach White??™s dad and the current school superintendent good friends? I think you are trying to make this thing out to be more than what it is. The situation is a little more straight forward than that, the program that Coach White put together just didn??™t work. It doesn??™t make him any less of a man, it just didn??™t work. The job at LC is attractive to many coaches. There are a lot of coaches that would love to take a program on the bottom and build it up. I would much rather take over a program at the bottom than one at the top.
  12. Hey Soloman, yes the LC fans wanted change. Just because they were trying to show some civility does change the fact that they are probably not shedding any tears today. Coach White’s resignation was his choice. It was his program from day one and all that was accomplished or was not accomplished was his alone. Critics are just that critics. Their words had nothing to do about Coach White leaving. Now we can begin the debate or rumors on who will be his replacement.
  13. This is a difficult call. It is nice to have nice warm practices, but I do commend the coach’s efforts to allow athletes to play multiple sports. In my day, we just had to lose athletes to baseball during the spring. I do think running track does help the team in the long run to develop speed and endurance. I would like to see a spring game. It always gave the kids something to look forward to doing at the end of spring practice
  14. 85, I appreciate the comments. I believe my coaching days are done, but I still hope that I can help the next generation (if you know what I mean, many coaches in the family).
  15. 101, Glad to have another person seeing things the way I do. There are two things High School coaches must do, adjust scheme to talent, and build talent for the future. Good stuff 101.
