Oak Ridge High School Principal Chuck Carringer on Monday said an altercation involving the school's head football coach following the Oak Ridge Clinton game Friday remains under review. Clinton officials allege Oak Ridge Coach Stanton Stevens cursed Clinton students who came onto the field after the game and then shoved Clinton Assistant Coach Richie Marsh in the chest with both hands knocking him backward.
Stevens allegedly then had to be physically restrained by others as the incident came close to escalating and involving players, according to Clinton High Officials. Carringer wouldn't comment on the allegations.
" I regret that the situation occurred, " he said and will take the approriate action after the review."
Stevens wasn't avialable for comment.
Oak Ridge won the 35-21. The Clinton-Oak Ridge rivalry is longstanding and has included incidents of vandalism in the past.
