Fentress County lost a basketball coaching legend on New Years Day with the passing of Coach Homer Lee Linder Jr. Arrangements will be made sometime on Wednesday (1/2/13). Please keep his wife and family in your prayers!

Sounds like someone with a rift with a coach or administrator. Most likely someone that was unable to make a sports team while in high school. Support the student/athletes. These opportunities don't come around often....enjoy them while you can!!!

No I don't have an inside track so I really can't elaborate any farther. Just think there were reasons for why some things have happened the way they have. I understand what your saying about the "yes" man thing, but with the unconditional support thing I meant support the team regardless of who the coach is. I still don't understand the comment on "scared ones", and whatever that means, I am not one of those. I just want York to do well in all aspects of the school-- athletics, academics, etc.... So I will end my discussion on this topic with my usual: Go York!!!!!

Did not hit a nerve, I was just wondering who you were talking about. I have not been especially happy with everything happening at YAI either, but I will not go so far to say that the administration does not care about the students. Many of the negative posts on this message board most likely come from a few folks that did not get their way about something or a person that does not like a coach personally. I think a great deal of care and caution must be used when hiring new personnel, in our society today you cannot be to careful when it comes to hiring someone to monitor kids. From things that I have heared and been told there were good reasons why someone was "passed-over" for a certain job, or replaced by someone else. I would like to see everyone that considers themself a York fan stay positive and provide unconditional support for our teams. Go York!!!!!

Not my intentions to call you out, I was just wondering if you were interested in the job. Had someone ask me if you were taking the job. I have also been told DB from Clay Co. might be interested if the P.E. job opened. Options86, I honestly thought you would probably be a good choice for the job. Hope we get someone hired soon so that any "transition-period" struggles can be kept to a minimum. As I usually end my posts: GO YORK!!!!!!!!!

How is Clarkrange approaching the HOF opener(s)? Are they going to play the early game with jv players and use starters in the second or will they use a mix of both for both games? Pretty confident statement about your team when you schedule two games for one evening.

Livingston and Upperman will be the class of the league, no doubt. Smith County with the addition of Carr will be in position to quite possibly compete with the top two. York- If the young post player can contribute big by tournament time York could be a tourney contender. Cannon- Lot of good young kids, should be exciting to watch. Macon- Always dangerous because of good post play and stable guards DeKalb- Watch out. If they improve as much this season as last year they will get a district win (s).

How will the gridiron gang from York do this season? Tough to repeat last seasons performance. Can they do it? Who are the odds on favorites to make the play-offs from this region?

Coach Wright is our coach, and in the event you did not notice, is doing an exceptional job. Let's let all the other stuff go and support our team and coaches. Coach Matney is a good man and has moved on with his life and coaching career, and I think everyone else should do the same. Go York

Sounds like you have all the answers. If you are this qualified maybe you should put in you application and become an assistant coach. Get off Coach Stories back. She is doing a good job and will have the Dragonettes where they need to be when they need to be there. Yorks strength through the years has been that they play as a team, and that is continuing under the current coach. One disappointing game does not a season make.
