The score in regular season Cf 20-13

Playoffs OS 20-13 ..skin of our teeth for both, 2 great games I personally hate that #27 from coalfield out of it,but curious to see how the defense holds up without #42 and #27...OS o ly lost 3, 2 starters. It will be a great Thursday night rivalry game. But the region will tough

    Rockwood will be good

Harriman only lost 3,they will surprise folks

Greenback,we will see what they bring in

    Oliver Springs will be solid

Coalfield will be good, curious to see if the rumors are true

Me to. If so it’s gonna be a big deal but I do not think it is true. At least not for this year but we will see.

Here we go again!  CYJACKET IS FROM OLIVER SPRINGS.....just in case folks can't figure that one out.  This is no secret.

    Think about it!

Speaking of Oliver Springs we played them the other night in basketball (new gym is very nice by the way) and I saw on their electronic sign “Welcome To Oliver Springs Academy”. When did that happen or have they always been an “academy”?

Tell me Crow, does Oneida get any transfers year in year out. I'm sure you all get a few but I never hear of it.  I know Coalfield and Greenback get their fair share.  I know Oneida has struggled here of late but have had some really good teams in the past and deserve a nod for doing it with good homegrown talent and coaching.

We get a few but we lose a few as well. Not huge numbers either way. Lately we have had several come in from the county and a few from the Knoxville area. Overall we are far from making a living with them and we’re not losing games because of it really either. Just not much of a draw up here. Kids may move schools within the county but we’re not really known as a hot bed of D1 recruits either.

Oneida seems to see things a little differently than Thebalduglycooters. Maybe there is something to say about consistency and success at a school…..

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying we’re any kind of standard or model for anyone to follow because obviously we’re not but SB and WB are lucky to have the same guy more than 2 seasons. That’s rough in any program. In fact it eventually will kill most programs if not corrected.

  5. So let me just throw this out there. How many HC changes have there been at SB and WB in the last 20 years? How many at CF in the same timeframe? Yes kids want success but they also want, need and deserve consistency. Consistency, by the way, tends to help with success. Not the only thing but almost impossible to have success without consistency at HC. If the good folks of SB and WB want success and for the community kids to go to those schools maybe they could find a way to run off the folks running off the HC’s they get instead of worrying about what CF may or may not be doing. Remember this is coming from an Oneida guy so it’s not like I’m a big CF fan, just giving respect and acknowledgment where it’s due, still don’t like ‘em much though lol.

  6. I’m sure there’s some bias that draws some from other areas of the county to coalfield. Just as I’d be willing to bet there are kids that live closer to CF that go to SB or WB. A lot of it has to do with circumstances. There are a million reasons why someone would prefer their child to attend a school other than the one they happen to live closest to, sports is one of them but certainly not the only one. The idea of zoning doesn’t sit well with me anyway. It seems to be a very left winged liberalist idea that somehow the government knows better than me what is best for my kid. If it’s within the rules and I’m willing to provide transportation to and from school for my child then who’s business is it where I decide is best for him or her to go. It’s simply a matter between me, my family and the schools admissions staff.

Like I said using the rules put in place and pretending like it’s not getting a leg up is ridiculous.   It’s like starting a hand of poker with pocket aces especially at lower levels.  The worst part is these Programs get treated like they can do no wrong and do everything the right way . Well sometimes you got to stand up and call a spade a spade.  We are creating a generation of FRONT RUNNERS  ! It’s too easy to go to the established schools than stay where you live and help rebuild.  It’s the easy way out .

So I’m guessing that’s a no on the zoning map link? That was all I was really interested in. Thanks.

This is not college the success of the program blah blah blah shouldn’t have anything to do with where kids go . You go to school where you are zoned to go to school the rest is BS most of the time. Put out by front runners….  People want to know why schools have a hard time turning around this is exactly the reason why. Sadly they hide behind rules that the county put in place. Anyone with any common sense knows It’s not right.

I haven’t been able to find a Morgan County Schools zoning map anywhere online. Got a link to one? I was under the impression Morgan county, like most counties especially rural ones, were open zoned.

Coalfield Middle School has the Hammock player who transferred from Sunbright school to Coalfied with no change of Address and didn’t sit out any time at all. I think he is way older than the other kids in his grade. That is illegal if I’m not mistaken. Someone needs to report it to TSSAA.

If it’s middle schools then the TSSAA doesn’t care. Now the TMSAA may be interested. I agree sounds like you’re the one to report it given your insider info on the situation. Like we’ve all said for years, if you have the info and don’t report it then it’s just a rumor.

  10. 1 hour ago, BFL347 said:

yes, we agree on that for sure! the open borders in morgan means you can go to any school in county, Thats all but you can't per say go to Wartburg freshman yr. and then say Oakdale sophmore, without moving.

You can but it would cost you 1 year of eligibility by sitting out.

Wow, just noticed York doesn’t have a single player on this list and they were ranked by most of the same writers as number 1 most the year right?   I wonder why only 2 qb and rb on the 2a list? That would have helped I’m sure Leffew from YAI and 25 from Riverside had to be the next ones right?

Not asking you specifically ST just wondering and this post it is easier to see the positions.

They didn’t have one on the coaches all state team either.

I know Oneida isn't dodging the Bobcats that's for sure!  I'm not intending Oz would either for all you Bobcats out there.

No I highly doubt either is scared to play the other. I suspect a schedule conflict somewhere with both regions having some changes this past year.

i think you have to move as a freshman, like you can't just be a jr and decide to move schools.

No you absolutely can move anytime you’d like. If you’re a junior and change schools you either have to have a legitimate change of address as defined in the transfer rules or you must sit out 1 year from last athletic participation. Example if you transfer after game 3 of your junior year and you do not meet change of address requirements then you would not be eligible until game 4 or your senior season but you absolutely would be eligible to play your senior season.

Not real sure where the confusion is,but besides that. Someone thinks this is another account of a guy that is named cyjackets. It's not and 100 percent not from coalfield or do I know who cymjackets is. I was just trying to comment that about 5or 6 starters on coalfield this upcoming year are from last yes roster and they all started in wartburg. And while I'm on here ,why did onieda take OS off schedule?

Honestly I’m not sure Oneida took OS off the schedule or if OS took Oneida off, I don’t have an answer about Oneida and OS other than maybe with the new region alignment for both there may have been a scheduling conflict for one side or the other, maybe both or something. It’s been on and off for a long time now. We’ll play a few years then won’t for a few. That’s the only thing I can figure but I do not have a for sure answer.

I'm not switching handles, what are you talking about, I'm just curious were someone made you think it was Oliver springs,  there aren't any oliver springs kids on the up coming schedule.. but you could mention Wartburg, even tho the most just played youth ball in wartburg

    ???

Doesn’t matter as Tssaa says once you start somewhere you can’t transfer unless it’s an address change

Yep that’s why transfer rules apply. Doesn’t mean you can’t go anywhere you want to though. Might have to move or sit a year or just start where you want as a freshman. If I lived in sunbright and had a kid that was decent or above at football he’d likely be at coalfield first day of high school if I’m being honest.

  17. 4 hours ago, Thebalduglyduck said:

    That’s not true they cannot.

Morgan county is an open zoned county I do believe. Of course transfer rules apply and you may have to provide your own transportation. I actually know of a couple of Scott county kids over the years who attended and played sports including football at Anderson county due to family either teaching there or working in the area. A lot of counties allow kids from outside their county. There have even been kids attend Oneida who lived in McCreary county KY and vice versa again typically due to family teaching or working in the area.
