  1. It should never be their time to host. There is nowhere to sit, and no way to cover the field. At least some of the schools have field tarps. The coaches have done a good job with what they have had to deal with. They need to understand that it is about sending our best representatives to the sub state and beyond. As it stands now the two advancing teams are going to be tired and pitching rotations will be screwed. The coaches could look at the weather forecast and see that it was likely going to rain. They were given an opportunity to move the location. As usual it was county vs. city schools. THS, SH, and DB wanted to move it to DB. I don't see what advantage it gives the city schools other than DB gets to play on its home field. Next year the tournament is to be played at Boone. Same thing. Less than 100 seats and no tarp. They split the gate receipts so there is very little money to be made. THey need to wisen up.
  2. After last night's games (TN High over Science Hill and South over Boone) do we have any different opinions on how the Big 9 will shake out.
  3. 2 aces is one more than every other team in the conference has. NatPat would be a solid two on many teams in this conference as well as Sharpe. McKinney and Norris have to be near the top when it comes to 1-2 pitchers in the state.
  4. McKinney was 5 for 5 with at least 7RBIs. He was awesome last night.
  5. Your kid didn't make the varsity huh!
  6. Any scrimmages in the Big 9 yet?
  7. THS is going to Florida for the Disney tournament. They leave tomorrow.
  8. How about those Lady Vikings going to DB and winning. Good game all around. To beat the preseason #1 team with Montgomery only scoring 12 says a lot about the depth of the Vikings. Might be a long year for the rest of the Big 9.
  9. The reason for 2 of the touchdown passes was our best corner getting beat in one on one. Maybe we should have helped over the top, but I think we expect him to be able to cover better. Hopefully it was a fluke, as he has been solid all year.
  10. Less than 30 hours to kickoff. I'm glad to see this thread get back to the THS vs. South game. Honestly as a Viking supporter I still recognize that South is the favorite in this game. If you take both teams body of work over this season South deserves to be the favorite. This being said if Beedle truly is out that changes things alot. South relies heavily on running behind that monster. Phillips being hurt is bad enough. I think the Vikings can definitely pull the upset and win the final MLC championship. The time for trash talking is almost over. Can't wait to see who eats crow on Saturday morning.
  11. I doubt after the Volunteer debacle last year that any games will be overlooked. This one will be over by halftime. Sheppard and pals will pad stats for the 1st half and then the JV will hit the field. Perfect game right before South. Hopefully the Vikings will get healthy.
  12. Exactly right. Bart is arguably the best player in the last 20 years at THS and he only got to long snap his 5th year for Virginia Tech. We have talent but not the kind you find around Knoxville and West TN. Hey Cap. I bet there is a reason that Mason is not playing on defense. Although I did see him take some snaps there this past game. He has the frame to be a great defender. I have no idea about his technique or heart. Your kids are good football players, but ultimately basketball is both of their top sports.
  13. I'm definitely not coaching. I don't know as much as they do about football. Great post TVA. You said what I wanted to. I just was a little rougher. My bad on that.
  14. In order to blitz you have to have corners that can cover man to man. We have one that can do that. You also need a safety that can help out over the top. Between Tallman and Arnold we can pressure the QB. I agree that a blitz might be good from time to time, but we don't have the personnel to do it much. Davis and Snyder are working hard and will both hit hard, but they have a hard time covering a taller receiver since they are both about 5'8". You can only do so much with what you are given.
