  1. I will have to say I was not a fan of the pregame show, but it is the team and the coaches that decide what they do before the game. I don't think it hurt our boys anymore than it helped UC. The fact of the matter is, two good teams played and one had to lose. Our boys played with class and left it all on the field. I am proud of our team. Look for our boys to be competing again next year for that gold ball!
  2. This is where SP really struggles.......................... I can remember in the 90s when them Jasper folks ran their yappers at the South Pittsburg faithful.....looks like the tables have turned. What comes around goes around, huh??
  3. Ok Roy, don't get your undies in a wad. Jasper just does not have the players to compete with the Pirates right now. For all you doubters out there.....the Pirates will be back next year. I have faith in our coaching staff to have our boys ready. If they get back to basics (conditioning, strength training) they will run it down anyone's throat next year and make them like it. This team will still be young but the talent is still there to compete for the region and another state title.
  4. Isnt this what you said after last year??? One thing about it TTP, no matter how much weights the Warriors lift, they won't beat the Pirates for several years to come.....and that will keep them from winning the region.
  5. I think Gordonsville will be the 1A team to beat next year on our side of the state. I don't know about the issues but I was impressed with the size of your team this year. SP and Gordonsville will square off for the next few years in the playoffs much like TC and SP faced each other in the last 10 years. I met up with a few men from Gordonsville after the loss in the state...I think they were coaches for the Tigers but I did not ask. Anyway, they were nice guys and we both agreed that we will see a lot of each other during this newest playoff format. Good luck next year Tigers!
  6. The 2010 Pirates need to look at how the 2007 team approached each game 2 years ago. They did not overlook anyone and played hard whether it was a team they should beat or a team that was equally as good. Respecting your opponent is the key to playing hard each week. The 2009 team was talented but in my opinion listened to the blowhards too much. They underestimated two of the three teams that they lost to and both ran a style of offense very familiar to us older Pirates. I hope they learn from some of the mistakes made the last couple of years and get back to Pirate Football. There is plenty of talent coming back to have a good team next year.....just how good they will be is how hard they work in the off season and if they play as a team.
  7. First of all, let me say that I have no affiliation with either of these schools. In fact, I didn't see either of them play all season. Congrats to Union City. A state championship is something no one can ever take from you, and you should be proud of your hard work. South Pitt, nothing is as hard as finishing as a runner up in a state championship game, but someday you will realize what an accomplishment it was and how privileged you were to play in that game. Great season for both teams. Union City: I understand feeling some frustration with being disrespected throughout the week by south Pitt posters, but YOU WON. That fact alone should do all the talking that needs to be done. As an unbiased observer, some of your posters reflect poorly on your school and city. "Win like a winner, Lose like a winner." A couple of you have mentioned players being on these boards and reading these posts. Why don't you try to show them what a winner acts like by enjoying your win, and not talking trash to the team you just beat. It makes you look like you have never been there before. I certainly don't want all Union city posters to think I'm talking to them, because from what I can tell, most of you are a class act. Again, congrats to both teams, and to Union City for bringing home the gold ball. This is the email I wanted to write a couple days ago, but all the bashing by the UC posters got my blood boiling and I just posted something I should have just kept to myself. This game could have gone either way. Turnovers and missed tackles doomed the Pirates. UC won the game playing their style of ball. I congratulate them on the win and apologize for the previous email.
  8. First bold comment: You personally blamed a SP player for possibly costing the team a state title then followed it up by saying they shouldn't be ashamed...seems like a pot calling the kettle black. Second bold comment: I assume you're referring to Purple & Gold Standard's comment and I'm pretty sure he clarified the situation a few posts up. Third bold comment: Who is really the jealous party? The ones being humble about an upset state title win, or the overcompensating fans that are trying to make excuses by blaming teenagers for dropping passes in the endzone? Random thought: The fact that you say SP struggled against physical teams all year then go on to say that people saying other teams would have held their own against SP is contradicting. If a team that beat UC such as Huntingdon did it by being more physical than UC then by your own statement of SP having problems with physical teams seems to suggest that Huntingdon would have held their own or possibly beat SP. Read the post again moron....I did not blame anything on #21. I was just putting in perspective what could have been if he caught that ball. There were more plays than that on that determined the game. Please don't think us Pirate fans are jealous of your team....if I had to watch that every week, I would go to sleep...boring!!!
  9. You and your purple and gold friends are some of the poorest sports I have ever seen after a game....where you did not dominate....you won by 2 points with an exchange soccer student!! Look at the stats...we had 20-30 less plays than you did and still almost matched your yardage and points. I will never respect the Union team or school after the way you bunch of punks have gotten on here...downed our team, our town, and our community. You say that we had 3 players and that was it...what a joke!!! If you are going to go that route, then your team only had 1...#27. Take him off your team and we beat you handily. You can talk about other teams beating us until you are blue in the face. Yesterday was Union's day...everything in the game went your way. I agree with the poster earlier that mentioned if we played you 5 times, we would win 4 out of 5 times. Enjoy that Gold ball...probably will be the last one you get since you should be in 2A anyway.
  10. What a great game between two determined teams. Both left all the had on the field and unfortunately one had to lose. Union City has a very boring offense but it worked to perfection today. Big ole #27 gained 3-4 yards on just about every play. SP has struggled all year against physical teams. Congratulations to UC on a big win. The only thing I don't agree with is that UC dominated the game. If they did, they would not have given up 28 points. The Pirates beat themselves today with two turnovers and poor tackling. If Malcolm does not drop the pass in the endzone on the first series, the Pirates are up 21-7 at halftime. The Pirates played their hearts out and have nothing to be ashamed of tonight. The seniors did a great job leading this team all year and will be missed. The underclassmen need to step up, work hard in the off season, and prepare for next season. UC has a quality team. I know some of our SP faithful were predicting a blowout but don't bash the team. Anyone that gets on here and laughs at players being injured is a sick individual. Our boys played hard and just came up a little short this year. Anyone that is happy that they lost and bashs SP is just jealous...plain and simple. Very few 1A teams can graduate talented seniors like we have the last two years and be back in the State game. One more thing....these fellars coming out of the woodworks saying that their team could handle SP are really funny. If they could handle SP, why were they not on the opposite side of the field??? Oh, yeah they were beaten by UC or by someone UC put out of the playoffs. Congrats UC...you earned the win today.
  11. I hope there isn't any blame game being played either considering Robinson still hasn't scored on that first touchdown, that SP kid's knee was down on that pass play and a SP player tackled Jacob Worley (#11) on the two-point conversion...The only thing the Pirate fanbase can remotely argue is the personal foul penalty near the end of the game but the SP kid did push Bowling while he was on the ground but nobody heard what he said while he was pushing Bowling in the turf... It was a great game...5 penalties in all called on both teams combined.... Union City ran 70 plays.....69 of those run plays...They lost 5 yards in 69 carries....Josh Nicks had 47 carries....Out of all those carries he only lost 1 yard....UC had 32 mins plus of TOP to SP's 15 mins plus...SP KNEW UC couldn't pass and they still couldn't stop the run....That vaunted SP defense we all kept hearing about got run over, around and thru.......That speedy SP defense couldn't catch that slow #28 for Union City on those speed sweep plays either ....There are no excuses when you get manhandled by a team's offensive line... I don't remember you personally making all those crazy predictions but there were plenty of your fellow Pirate Nation brothers and maybe sisters that did....There is Crow Supper of huge proportions that will be served on here the next day or so and with good reason .... I hope Roy Dillard got his answer about whether or not Union City lifted any weights and also hope the Tornadoes earned enough respect to be called by their actual name...Union City...Not just Union or Onion City....Cute but a complete lack of respect for the opponent... If he would have read that Murphy Fair book a little closer he would have seen that the Tornadoes lift weights and alot of them.....I don't remember seeing one Union City player limp off the field...I saw numerous SP players sprawled out or limp off...Thank goodness all of them, that I remember, came back and played..Maybe THEY need to hit the weights a little more....Did anybody else hear that one of the coaches for SP said that the injury to #21 was more or less in his head ??..I at that.... What a classless post about #21...you lost all respect from me by bashing a player that played his heart out. Your great tornado team could not stop him or #6 so I see it as even between them and your big running back.
  12. I will say this now like I said it after the Boyd game....no way would they beat us if Terrell played...and if the field was dry it would be worse. They can puff their chests out and say they beat the Pirates but deep down they know they got lucky to play us in a monsoon and without our best player. I think Trousdale Co wins this games because they have battle tested players that were in this situation last year....plus they have a beast at running back/linebacker. TC, this is one Pirate fan that is rooting for you to win it Saturday!!! Go Jackets!!
  13. Alright...it is late Thursday night and Pirate fans are having a hard time sleeping dreaming of that gold ball. I expect this to be a very hard-nosed, hard-hitting ballgame. Both teams will bring their A game but the Pirates will prevail due to the tough schedule they played this year. I have to agree with Old Pirate when he said earlier this year that our offense should score at least 1 touchdown each quarter. With that said, I think we will score one more. Union City will play tough but will not have the horses to stay with the Pirates after the 3rd quarter. My prediction: Mighty Pirates: 35 Gritty Tornados: 21 GO PIRATES!!!!!! BRING THAT GOLD BALL HOME!!!!!!!!!!
  14. From an inside source in that area....they may not "Recruit" but they do something. Anyone who knows anything about H S football will say that if a Single A team is that good with that little of a school....something fishy is going on here. Union City....WILL PROVE that they can give the little old pirates all they want come noon Friday...just watch my friend. And if your that good...why don' t you play up a class or two like Trousdale County did for a couple of years....couldn't hang I imagine!! That was proven this year! What a bunch of garbage!! Everybody in our area knows that all our players are hometown boys. You are just plain jealous and trying to make excuses for losing before the game even starts. We will see if your Union City boys are up to the task tomorrow at 12:00. We played 2A, 3A, and 4A teams and won all but two of those games so that is not even a valid point there bud.
  15. From what I have been told, Jabriel could not hold Terrell's jockstrap. Terrell is a stud on both sides of the ball. Jabriel may be the real deal, but I can guarantee if you saw Terrell play, you would not be doubting his ability....just ask all the teams we have played this year. UC will have trouble with Terrell...mark that down. No one we have played has shut him down....not even Polk County. Ask the Boyd fans if they would want to play us again with a healthy Terrell Robinson. My point is, many players are overlooked in 1A football. Terrell is not blinding fast, but has good speed, a great arm, and is a great leader on the field.
