  1. it is looking like the off season weight training is paying dividends also. The girls seem stronger ripping rebounds and winning tie ups and they are definitely getting off the floor better. Doesn't look like the speed has been hurt maybe even some are a little quicker! Thanks Todd for the work you put in this year! /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  2. Totally agree! These girls play their best when the relax and just play. They put enough pressure on themselves without the community and parents piling it on too! Coach Morgan has become a master at handling the girls and their problems. They are GIRLS for goodness sake!! It would be nice to get the "Gold" ball, but what I admire most about Coach Morgan and Coach Young is their record of getting girls in college and following them after basketball is gone. That is the true measure of coaching and teaching young folks, getting them ready to contribute to society. Todays kids in general are not ready when they leave high school to go out into the world and make a difference. Central is blessed with good coaches in all sports and I know for a fact, teaching life is high on each one's agenda while they have our kids on their teams.
  3. Pulled muscle. Don't know why she is dressing if she can't play.
  4. To become an official you take an open book test! All I ask for is KNOW the fundamentals!! A stutter step with the lead foot is not a walk, defensive position standing flat footed with the hands extended straight up is not a foul!! calling reach fouls from 30 ft away is guessing!! I actually saw one of the other officials roll his eyes when "Sir Whistle Alot" called his 30th foul. Again, be consistant first, know the rules and if you are a senior official, take the newbes aside and give them some leadership, it doesn't hurt to call them down a little and teach them.
  5. I thought you were out of town for the game!! If you were there, you would have seen what was happening and would not be making the statements about descipline. This game was well played by both teams and was hard fought. Yes, Central has had their moments, and YES the coaches are/were addressing the issues and will continue to work on improving in this area. I really don't remember but 1 PF, and that was a double PF between one of Central's best natured kids, #50 AND from what I have read, one of GB's best natured kids #71. Please let it rest for a year and see if things are better next year after Central's kids have time to grow and get better. I have faith the coaches will concentrate on being more desciplined next year.
  6. Here we go again!! First game of the season and officiating is getting worse! Whats really bad is I am a fan of the team who won in a blow out. I just watched a game between McMinn Central and WIlliam Blount Girls and it was one of the worst officiated games I have seen. A total of about 45 fouls were called and believe it or not, ONE official called 37 of those fouls!!!! When the TSSAA went to 3 officials a game, I feel officiating went down hill. I have played, coached or watched for over 35 years and it is worse now that ever. Officials don't hustle to get into position like they used to, they don't talk to the players like they used to. Consistancy is non-existant, players will adjust IF the games are called consistantly. Old school refs would tell a player, "back off" or "hands" early in a game and set the tone for the game. Someway, somehow, some changes need to be made!! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
